The Nice Guy
THE NICE GUY delivers a fun and upscale atmosphere that has been lacking in Los Angeles. The NICE GUY, one step above a restaurant but below a club, is a cozy reservations-only destination for friends and family to feel like they truly belong.
Upon entry the vintage marble and brass bar greets you. Its size, scale, and shape invite the guests to a unique social experience, encouraging conversation and camaraderie – the booths along the exterior wall command intimacy between guests, while the larger booths flanking the room stimulate the party atmosphere throughout the night.
What Insiders Are Saying
Be your best Jenner and head to the Nice Guy in West Hollywood, an Italian restaurant to see and be seen.
Bartenders/hosts were a bit rude. Server was very nice and food was really good. Had a great night.
Too dark for me. Our friends food came cold. Otherwise it's OK.
I came to The Nice Guy for my first dinner in LA visiting from Australia and had the best time. The venue is cosy and sexy and the food is delicious. 100% would recommend!
We waited for 40 minuets to be seated when it was half empty and left.
This place is awful.
Incredible, rich and flavorful food + great ambiance
Pretentious and over priced, staff could not be bothered looking after you unless you are a someone or are spending a lot of money there. The food is average, nothing special and really expensive. It’s so dark in there you can’t see what you’re eating. Made to feel so uncomfortable, would definitely not return or recommend to anyone.
Pros: tasty Italian food and lovely ambiance. The no-photos policy is wonderful and the curtains at the entry and exit are a nice touch. Cons: Food is overpriced for the quantity and caliber given. The lighting inside is very dim, so coming in through the curtain during the daylight hours takes a minute for your eyes to adjust, and the clutter of chairs, table, and people are tough to navigate around in this situation. Our waitstaff was also a bit slow - understandable given the crowd, but all three waiters who had helped us in the beginning seemed to have disappeared entirely by the end of our meal. One waiter also poured tap water into a $6 glass sparkling water at our table despite us identifying it as he went in for refills. The photo booth in the back was non-operational during our visit. Finally, the bathrooms are quite nice but the male and female restrooms are two adjacent stalls in the same room, which can make things a bit awkward. It's also hidden inside a blind turn from the kitchen, and leading to collisions with the staff and patrons entering/exiting the kitchen/bathroom. Overall consensus - a pleasant experience, but probably wouldn't come here again.
Waited 40 minutes to be seated at the table we made the reservation for, waited another 30 minutes to get one plate, didn’t get water until we were done and it’s not as if 100 people were in the restaurant...
Celiacs be careful :-/
Great ambiance. Excellent vibe and music. Terrible service, awful seating options. Food was just mediocre.
My server was very slow at refilling our drinks, coming to check on us and making sure we were ok. We saw him only 3-4 time and in a couple hours time and it was very dead in Nice Guy so wasn’t sure what his hold up was. Everything else was amazing as usual.
The server felt like my tip wasnt enough, apparently. Because he went ahead and tipped whatever he pleased. Its the second time happening here.
The "Impossible" fusilli was amazing, and you can't miss the photo booth. This place is known for good people-watching, but our table was tucked in a corner. Good food and good vibes.
After reading the horrible reviews about the nice guy, I still wanted to check it out. Our reservation was for 930. We got there and we were told it would be a little bit of a wait because our table was finishing up. After 15 minutes of standing and waiting, the hostess offered to seat us on the patio until the table was ready. We ordered a bottle of wine until we waited. Around 1030 our server comes out apologizing about the wait and told us that the table would be finishing up soon, and asked if her manager came and spoke to us. We told her no. She came back after 15 minutes at 1045 and told us our table was ready. She goes on to say ‘my manager spoke to you right? I’m definitely sure he’s going to comp something’. We told her he had not come. We were very nice up to this point because we understood it wasn’t her fault. After we got seated we ordered our food. Our meals had arrived and two of the meals were the steaks on the menu. The first bite that we took was cold as can be. We politely asked to warm it up. They brought it back and it was exactly the same with more garnish on it. We asked the server to take it back and that our appetite was ruined. At the end, they had taken our steaks off the bill and gave us two free desserts. But the whole experience was a disaster. Nothing was done for us to have waited an hour and 15 minutes past our reservations. We didn’t feel like we were ‘important’ enough for them. Also, I was left hungry at the end of the night.
Perfect place for a special occasion or romantic date. Request a booth so that you will be in the main restaurant area, and have a good view of the house band and best for people watching. We had a small table by the bar off to the side, which was a little disturbing because that is where the waitresses pick up the cocktails from the bar. The pasta dishes were great though and their cocktail specials are fantastic.
I would definitely suggest calling the restaurant to make sure that you are not seated outside. Their outdoor area is very much removed from the inside of the restaurant, and the main reason I like the Nice Guy is because of the atmosphere.
Would recommend for a night out but food average at best. Pasta was undercooked and pizza was over cooked, cheese was burnt. Would not dine here again.
Service, quality, everything has hone down. A has been place. Will not return.
Our Server Dylan was Amazingggg. Will be coming here again I loved the food and the atmosphere
I had reservations for 10:30 for a party of 8. I was asked to confirm twice, which I did, both times. They also sent a text to arrive right on time because they only hold tables for 15 mins. My entire party arrived together at 10:04. We were told it would be a short wait. At 10:31 they were just seating 8:30 reservations. At 10:45 I asked what the anticipated actual wait time would be, the hostess couldn’t or wouldn’t give me a straight answer. At 10:55 I asked again and the other hostess avoided answering me at all. So my party of 8 left. That’s quite disappointing. I was celebrating my engagement and wanted to have a fun time. I’ve been to Nice Guy several times before and loved it but this just left a terrible impression. I know LA isn’t the pinnacle of hospitality service but the rudeness was super unnecessary.
Unfriendly, long waiting line,
Felt that the food was brought out a little too quickly between appetizer and entree but other than that it was delicious
Served pizza, salad and entree at the same time. Waitress and kitchen were out of sinc
Made the reservation and put a note that it was our 3 year anniversary. We waited 20 mins for our reserved table and then we were sat up against the wall with the smallest table! When we politely asked to switch to one of the 6 embty booths, they told us no and any other table would of been an hour. Luckily I made a second reservation at a much more inviting restaurant (Rosaline).
The only reason I placed a 1 star is because there is no choice for no stars. The employees and even the managers at this place have no customer service whatsoever. I made reservations for this restaurant because I was in Los Angeles celebrating my bachelorette and when we arrived we were told that one of my friends in the group could not come in because he was wearing shorts. The hostess suggested to go across the street to buy pants, so off he went. We were sat down and our server begins with trying to get us to order drinks, I wanted to wait for my entire bridal party to be at the table before we order, so we told him that we would be another minute. He began to let us know that the allotted time for a table is 2 hours. He didnt need to go into that because I was well aware. He comes back a second time to ask us to order and mentions again that we should place an order for food or drinks before the 2 hours are up. He was definitely rushing us, so we ordered drinks and an appetizer to get him off our backs. My friend returns from the mall and then the bouncer outside says that he's still not allowed in because he has sandals on. Why was this never mentioned when the hostess looked him up and down? He begins to argue, so my friend asks to speak to the manager. The manager never shows up and after waiting maybe 15 minutes, the hostess says its okay for my friend to go in. Well, my friend decided to go eat elsewhere because of the way he was treated and the rest of us stay to eat. As we waited for the food to come out we notice 2 guys with baseball caps and one wearing a sleazy trucker hat. So hats are okay, but not sandals? Makes no sense at all. Our server then whispered into another servers ear and suddenly they switched. They made no attempt to apologize or even regard us as a table. The manager stopped by towards the end to very quickly say, "is everything ok?" but began to walk away quickly.
The food was great though.
Very nice place
Good food very dark
Its a place that wants to be the place. Bartenders were great as was waitress and food but doorman and Hostesses have an attitude that they belong there and they do not need customers. They we're annoyed when called out for being 15 minutes late and more so at 30 minutes. Then we are relaxing into our meal and advised the kitchen was closing so order deserts then. I need to rush because they were running late for a pre-booked reservation. Local deadheads were abundant and treated better than six customers coming an hour and half early to have drinks and and never an offer of one on the house or give a desert because you want to close the kitchen before main courses and only halfway thru appetizers. Food was good but so are lots of Italians in LA
Lovely place to eat, staff are very attentive. Food was amazing! I had the spaghetti and meatballs and it was one of the best I’ve had.
Thankful for a wonderful experience. The mood was great and everyone was very acommodating.
This was our second time visiting. We from NY so love the LA vibe here . Food is really good and the place is live & jumping . The only thing is my husband had on shorts and they wouldn’t let him stay so he had to sit in car and wait for us . The food came out quick and I feel like they don’t rush you out at all and are not on top of you .. which is a great thing !
Great food and great scene.
2 glasses broke, ‘smart casual’ meant no shorts for men without an answer on the phone when asked. it’s beautiful but a boogie attitude for a cool place in 200-something.
Felt disrespected- need to work on the attitudes of the servers/hostesses. I was also expected to sit at a decent table but ended up at the bar so I wouldn’t have to sit in the corner next to a door that leads to a patio (essentially the worst table WHEN there were plenty of open tables that were reserved just like the table I thought I reserved for me and my friend).
The service was impeccable from the moment we walked in. The hostess, manager and bartender (Eric-so cute!) truly made a warm and welcoming environment for us. I don’t understand why some of the bad reviews. You just need to make sure you play by their rules. You can only get in with a reservation and make sure to confirm the day of. Most of the food was mediocre except the Arctic Char was delectable. One of the best fish dishes I have ever had. The Fig pizza and Tony’s pasta were okay. But I will definitely be back because of the service and I want to try the doughnuts and lobster bucatini.
Great food !
Service was amazing
The ambiance is nice as well
Great food and service. Very expensive place though.
The food doesn’t taste like the chef took their time making it. Tastes like most of it came out of a can.
Wasn’t what we were expecting. Probably great bar experience. Don’t wear shorts!
