We needed a quieter area for a hard of hearing guest and for the most part we got that. The service and food was excellent. Our waiter was clearly busy, but it was a Friday night and the tables were full even in this out-of-the-way room. We keep coming back to this restaurant because we are continually satisfied here. Thanks to the staff for making us feel welcome.

Food was good, but not good enough to justify the price. I’ve had better experiences downtown.

I hadn't been to the Newsroom in a long time. Our waiter was great and kept our beverages filled and was always checking to make sure things were good for us. The food was excellent.

We arrived and ordered food in a timely manner. One guest ordered a beer and it was forgotten until halfway through the meal. The food was delicious. The Server was attentive but robotic. Overall a decent experience.

We had not heard much about The News Room, but thought we'd give it a try before a symphony event. We were pleasantly surprised and will come back. The menu has something for everyone, interesting twists on many items, and nice drink/wine/beer options. Both the Peppered Pork Roast and the Pork Shank were tasty and generous portions; the appetizer eggplant was excellent - could have been an entree itself. Service was good but could have been a bit more polished. Overall pleased with our choice to try The News Room!

Asked for a table that was quieter. They gave us a really nice table in the back that was perfect for 4. Everyone loved their meal and the wine list was good. Will be back. Fun decor.

Excellent service, but unfortunately, I didn't remember our server's name. She answered our questions and had great suggestions as we had never been there before. The food was outstanding! We had wings for an appetizer, along with a craft beer and glass of wine. I had the peppered pork cutlet while my wife had the Jambalaya pasta. We had martinis for desert and they were awesome as well. The total tab was a bit higher than expected ($112 before tip) for the two of us, but we did have two containers (love the take home containers!) of leftovers for two more meals at home. Overall, a great place for dinner!

The wait staff appeared to be "put off" having to serve lunch. Waiter was impatient; when asked what he recommended he simply said " The Cobb salad is what we sell the most; the chicken panni is the most popular sandwich." So get your order in and don't bother me.... When the wrong food was brought to our table, it was if it was our fault. Ask for a fork...let me slam a set up on your table. Lunch was $50 for two, plus tip. Staff was evidently busy preparing for future customers- which will not be us.
Bathroom is poorly marked - attempt to be cool with design. Minimal privacy.

Average decent food with no sparks. We ordered the shrimp cakes for our appetizer. There were 3 cakes over a slaw. The shrimp cakes were dry and the taste of defrosted seafood was strong so we just ate the slaw. The waiter cleared the plate with the cakes without even asking what was wrong.
For entrees, the ahi tuna was good (however the side dish that came with it was too salty) . The blue and black salmon salad was ok. Overall - average No reason to go back

It was our first time visiting The News Room. The four of us all ordered very different entrees. The portions were generous and all were very good, especially the squash soup. It was the best squash soup I have ever tasted. Looking forward to visiting again.

We had a big group after we tried our luck at an escape room. Very good waiter. My food was very good as I had the bone in short rib. Probably not a good choice if you're someone that likes large portion sizes. I got a bite of jambalaya which was a good sized serving and tasted good. Everyone was happy.

Took my son and friends here for a 21st birthday. Food was both creative and good; particularly surprising since the decor was more like a sports bar. Good place for foodies that want a casual atmosphere. Try the meatloaf flight!

We sat on the patio since the weather was permitting. Unfortunately the view consists of construction currently but I'm sure will be beauitful once it's all finished. The host that sat us was incredibly welcoming, friendly and accommodating to our preferences. Our server was attentive and food was delicious.

Good overall. One issue was that they never brought the app I ordered, but they also didn't charge for it. Brought clients for a relaxed dinner and everyone seemed to really enjoy themselves. Not too quiet, but we could still have a casual conversation.

We love coming to The Newsroom. The food is outstanding. The staff very friendly and helpful. The atmosphere is great, comfortable seating with enough distance between tables. Mostly the wonderful food is the reason to come. I have had several options off the menu and have found all of them to be delicious and generous in amount. The braised short rib with sweet potato risotto is to die for as well as the filet. We used to go to other restaurants downtown but now we just always head for The Newsroom. It has become our favorite downtown Minneapolis dining spot.

Not impressed at all - and understand why it's always empty. Mediocre food, super slow service. They had the windows open which was nice because of the weather, but ended up constantly swatting flies away. Not ideal.

I had asked for a quiet place and they were great at giving that to our party. Our waitress was excellent even though she identified herself as new on the job. We would not have known that. She was eager to be helpful. The portions are very adequate, and the warm bread and honey butter are welcome additions.

The food was good and the specialty drinks interesting. They had a good beer and wine menu. However, it took over an hour to get our food, and we never got refills on any of the drinks. We weren't even asked if we wanted another beverage. I know the pricing on OpenTable shows a 2 $$, but it should be ranked in the 3 $$$. It's a good thing that we'd planned for a longer dinner and chatting before our show. There was no way we would have had time for dessert with how long it took to get our entree.

We visit the Newsroom quite a bit when we are downtown, it's close to Orchestra Hall (our destination the last time we were there) and a good location for a lot of points of interest in downtown Minneapolis. Good food, good service!

Our waiter was quite the character, making my drink and food decisions for me (after my inquiries ;-). ). Atmosphere was fun, food was awesome. I had the swordfish and my husband had the ahi tuna. My potatoes were the stand out being very tasty! Our teenage kids were with us and enjoyed the ambience too. There was construction going on outside on a Friday evening and it was a bit noisy outside of our closed window. Seating outside was on another side but seemed a bit noisy with so many people enjoying the nice evening weather. We had reservations and were taken care of promptly for our Star Trek event later at Orchestra Hall, which was also awesome! I would highly recommend!

Fun decor, not too loud until a large group came in. The cheese board was skimpy and unimaginative, not worth the money, but the calamari were good. I'd been hearing about greens-with-watermelon salad, so I tried theirs and it was delicious. My husband enjoyed his tuna steak with "forbidden" rice (whatever that is), and my shrimp-and-mac-and-cheese was also delightful. Would definitely go back to try some other things!
