The Nest Kennesaw
The Nest has a great beer selection, and a wonderful atmosphere. However, the food is less than mediocre. We had wings and they were super overdone. Also, the sampler was average.
I’ve been to The Nest several times and the food and drinks are always good. I always enjoy the variety of beer. My brother was in town and he loves good BBQ. We got the big platter of different meats and veggies. It was AMAZING! My brother enjoyed it very much. His only complaint was there wasn’t much of a smoke ring on the ribs lol. But that doesn’t matter to me. It was the best ribs I have ever had. He loved the cole slaw so much that he got another order. He loves a vinegar based cole slaw and said it was the best he’s had in a while. My niece really enjoyed the Mac-n-cheese. And the cherry creme brûlée was delicious! Can’t wait to go back.
Promply & courteously greeted. Immediately seated and served by David. Wide selection of appetizers & entres for lunch, well & quickly prepared. Very satisfied!
I had the brisket sandwich which had a great smokey flavor, but was a bit dry. The mac and cheese is excellent and the fries were spot on. The staff couldn't have been friendlier and the restuarant ambiance is right in the sweet spot between a bbq shack and a mid level restaurant. Overall great experience
The food was incredible! The Beef Brisket Taco was amazing, loved the Nest Egg with the bacon, and the Cracklin' Pork Rinds were so great. The service was awesome and I will definitely be back.
Our favorite restaurant in Kennesaw! The pork rinds are AMAZING!!!! The food is always delicious and the service is excellent.
Great place to hang out. Good local beers and outstanding food
Service was excellent with nice outdoor ambiance. Food was overcooked but tasty. Must be careful with smoked meats.
Server was extremely slow!! The restaurant was not crowded and he would disappear for awhile. I drank all my water but he never asked if I’d like a refill!!! French fries were not totally cooked.
We were looking for a place to celebrate my sons birthday near KSU. Several people had recommended the Nest and it had gotten over 4 stars as a rating on open table so we decided to give it a try.
First let me say the service was very good. Its a very very causal place. We were greeted and seated immediately. Our server, (Dave I think) was helpful and attentive. Unfortunately that was the best part of the evening. Our meals were terrible, I would have to say the worst BBQ I have ever eaten. The portion was generous, ( 1/2) pounds of meat, but it was so dry no amount of sauce could help it. Three of us had the pulled pork platter which came with two sides. In addition to the BBQ being so dry, my sides were terrible. Potato Salad ( dry and no flavor) I sent it back and the server even agreed it didn't look good. I also had the baked beans. Again very dry , I never had beans so dried out. My son had the ribs. No a very good cut of meat at all. We sent it back and ordered him a pulled port sandwich, which again was not very good. Our bill for three adults and one 12 year old, was over 80 dollars, without alcohol. In hindsight, I should have said something to the management, but we were celebrating my son's bday, and I didn't want to put a damper on the evening. It felt like the meat was maybe a day old and reheated. Won't be back again.
What an amazing experience with The Nest! The nachos were the best I have ever had the portions are huge! Pork skins were also the BEST! You can’t go wrong with this restaurant!
Great Ribs! Great selection of beer too!
Everything was excellent, from the waiter to the food. I will be back.
Great spot for BBQ, had the brisket and it was off the charts, a little fatty but that is what makes it good!
The best items were the brisket, the smoked wings, and the banana pudding. The deviled eggs were disappointing as were the ribs( too dry and burnt taste), Ceaser salad (the hot crouton detracted from the taste) and the cream brule'. I will try it a second time and hope that the chef is less heavy on the hot sauce that will allow the patron to experience the full flavor of the meats. Thanks.
It was a fun place. Good flavor on the pork with a decent beer selection.
This was our first visit, and we really enjoyed it. Eating in what used to be a home was fun ... we tried to determine what room we were in. Was it the original kitchen? A bedroom? Who knows! The service was excellent, and the food was very good. Smoked chicken queso ... YES! And the peach barbeque sauce was a hit. Seemed a little pricey for what we got overall, so a slight ding to the value proposition. But plenty of food. We will be back!
Sadly, last nights experience is likely my last at The Nest. Special occasion dinner and the guests were looking forward to the ribs and wings. The wings didn’t have the smoked flavor that makes them so delicious. I’m not a wing lover except for these wings. The ribs were not the falling off the bone ribs like usual. Also, another friend was served the most dried out baked beans that we’d ever seen! Still not sure why they were even served. The manager apologized for the ribs and brought out yucky brisket instead of more ribs. The beans were replaced and looked like they should have in the first place. Oh, there was also a mouse on the wall behind us but no one mentioned that until today. Not sure what’s happened to this place, but I can’t imagine that anyone in our party of 8 will return. I haven’t seen the smokers being used in a very long time either. The service was great but that’s the only positive thing that I can say about the experience.
It was a great evening. The mixed drinks are a bit limited, and weren't very good, but the place is known for it's beer, so that is my fault for not ordering one of the many great beer options. The live music was fantastic, and fun. I wish I could remember the name of the group. It was something and grit. They were very entertaining. The taco's were fantastic, as were the ribs... well done guys.
Six of ate there for dinner and everything was delicious!
Food was good they seemed to be a bit overrun with tables which may have impacted service. I would go again if back in town.
I would recommend you sit outside instead of inside. Even in the July heat, outside was cooler. The food was ok. Our waiter was great!
The food was very good, portions were bountiful, service was excellent.
Visiting from out of town 2nd time we were here ..close to Smith-Gilbert gardens. ...,great lunch stop
Beer, food and service were all perfect! Very happy with everything.
The food was OUTSTANDING!! Looking forward to our next visit!
I REALIZE that this is a restaurant with outdoor seating, However, I did NOT like that animals are allowed. The animals were “rowdy”, plus I didn’t like them near our food. Sorry - (btw, I AM an animal lover, but at the right place and time)😬
Food portion seemed scarce; waiter was nice but seemed uncomfortable.
We do love the restaurant and will try again.
Food and beer selection were great. Love that you can order smaller sizes of beers so you can try a few
The atmosphere is great. We sat in chairs around a table,in the bar area. Unfortunately, the food and service was horrible. We ordered two “the whole farm” dinners to share. The wings were burnt beyond consumption. The ribs were overdone. We could not bite into them. The pork was very salty. We received two small slices of brisket and it was the only thing that tasted good. My Son had to continuously go to the bar for drink refills, condiments, extra napkins etc... it’s a shame because the place could be great. I’m not surprised we were able to get in on Mother’s Day after reading the reviews. If you are going to drink beer or have a glass of wine, sit at the bar and you will be fine.
Servers attempted to seat us outside on cool rainy day. We requested indoor table and were given one. Service very good and food pretty fair but you'd better like BBQ. Food good but not exceptional. May return.
Our family loved the food and the atmosphere. Great afternoon lunch. The KSU STU is awesome.
The food didn’t have much flavor . We ordered several different items and all of us were less than impressed. Wanted the banana pudding but they did not have it that night. My husband ordered ribs and was not asked if wanted any sides. The brisket tacos were bland and the mixed greens did not pair well as a topping in the taco. We tried all the sauces. I think this place is best for the many choices of beer they offered which was an extensive list.
Maybe they had an off night. We were a party of 6 and all of us had extremely dry meat. The brisket was ok in regards to dryness but not a lot of Smokey flavor. The chicken, ribs, and pulled pork was dry. Chicken wings were mixed. The collard greens were delish as were the pork rinds. The mac n’ cheese not inspiring. We were in town from NY and wanted good BBQ. Unfortunately, The Nest fell short in-spite of being rated the best BBQ.
Ran out of several food items and it took over 40 minutes to get our food.
The worst $60 spent. Half the food was over cooked other half under cooked. Host was rude.
It was a great experience again. Do love to take customer and friends here
The staff was very friendly and helpful. Food was just okay, but if you really love BarBQ you may enjoy more than I did. Atmosphere was fun, old south in what seems to be a historic building. Great beer selection.
We had a great first visit to this unique little find. I had the barbecue pork plat with Mac n cheese and baked beans. Sides were incredibly well done. Pork was very good (loved the spicy sauce). My wife had nachos and they were very good. We shared chicken egg rolls with our friends and they were terrific. Atmosphere is very laid back...we would visit the bar side next time we go for a little more liveliness. Beer selection is excellent...a great variety of craft beers. We will definitely be back.
The food was amazing, and the service was very good. Staff was friendly, and they were able to seat a large party, containing many children, very well, and in an area where we could feel relaxed while we ate.
Food and service were amazing!
