The cottage was a nice setting in a restored old house. The food and whiskey pairing was a very interesting dining experience and both were delicious and went well together. We were seated with 2 other very friendly couples and hit it off quickly and had a great time.

Second time at Nelson Cottage and we will definitely come back. Great special occasion meal with a group of friends. Fun and unique evening of very good food, paired with several whiskies of the High West Distillery. Food, which is a set menu, is served family style. Terry, the host, is entertaining and extremely knowledgeable about the whiskies. We had a special St Patrick’s meal with corned wagyu beef (really good) and a chocolate dessert that was outrageously good. If you like bourbon/rye and good food in a relaxed setting, you will love this.

We were on a ski trip and were aware of High West Distillery. We thought we would try the restaurant our first night on a Friday and happened across the Nelson Cottage. My wife is vegetarian and my daughter is a preteen so the menu matters.

The Nelson has a prefix menu but accommodated us spectacularly. The pairing with the whiskeys is unexpected and a must if you visit. Obviously my daughter did not try that. Nor was it so much alcohol that you get smashed.

The atmosphere was great as it was communal and Nelson’s made us all comfortable to visit and share experiences. The historic building and feeling of a Mountain Cabin made you hungry.

The staff and Chefs were so attentive and the food was truly the star of the show.

This is my “don’t miss” pick in Park City. It’s an experience like no other. This quaint cottage seats ~30 and serves family style seasonal dishes. You’ll need a reservation for one of their two nightly seatings. Come early for a pre-dinner cocktail outside with heat lamps and cushioned seating to enjoy the view of downtown Park City and views of the mountains. Every meal is different but impeccable prepared, explained and served. We had fish stew and New Zealand rack of lamb.

Two tips:
1. Don’t miss the whiskey pairing.
2. Come with friends or prepare to be friendly with others at your table.

This was fun! I liked the family style dining, and the unexpected opportunity to mingle with our tablemates. The food was tasty and imaginative. Two problems, though: the noise level really made it difficult for conversation, which I think is much of the purpose of "family style" dining. The portions were just a bit stingy - there should have been slightly more generous servings. That said, I would go again - we had a great time.

Food quality is great but there is not enough. After spending $75, you go away hungry. The courses, except soup & dessert, are family style. At our table we shared one medium trout with 9 people. That meant 1-2 small medallions (bites) per person. The bison was the same. The whiskey pairing is a great way to sample all the products, but is also expensive. For $60 you get (4) 1-oz tastings. You know the cost up-front, so no surprises, EXCEPT.......the Manhattan they serve everyone up-front, & then charge $14 for. It was a great evening, though expensive - about $400 for 2.

As a longtime fan of High West Whiskey I was excited to take my wife here for our anniversary. The cottage itself was very well done and had a very cozy cabin like atmosphere. We were instructed that there would be drinks and appetizers about 30 min earlier than dinner. This was outside on the deck which was fun as they had fires and seating. Little did I know this would be the last time I would have an actual conversation with my wife. The appetizers were good and were pate, foie gras, & deviled eggs. The dinner is served as a chefs choice and served family style. The thing we didn't understand that family style wasn't a meal for my wife and me, but actually family style with everyone at the table. This aspect wasn't very fun as for some items there wasn't enough food for everyone. The Chefs menu was the same menu as their sample menu on the website. So I'm not sure that the menu actually changes. The Chef never came out to discuss the menu which was disappointing. The food was good but buffalo was the best part. Dinner was very loud and I could barely talk to the person next to me let alone my wife across from me. Not exactly the romantic evening I had anticipated. For $60 extra you can get whiskey matched to the meal for each course. I got one and my wife passed as she isn't a big fan of whisky. She looked at the wine list only to find that her only choice was a full bottle of wine. It was fun to hear about each whiskey and flavors to look for. However, 4 shots of whiskey for $60 from the company that makes the whiskey and likely wants you to buy more wasn't a great showing. Save your money and buy a $40 bottle of whiskey from them afterwards. At the end of dinner they took us on a tour of the distillery which was informative. I would recommend it for the experience if you are prepared to pay for it. Skip the whiskey and your bill will be about $93.81/person. With whisky expect the bill to be about $168.86/person. Would also be more fun as a group than a couple.

Nelson’s Cottage was an exceptional experience with great food and a great concept. However, when booking we expected a $75 pre fix and $40-$60 whiskey tasting. Instead our meal was $90/person with a $75 whiskey pairing and surprise charged welcome muled wine. Rather disappointing surprise charges to an otherwise excellent evening.

A very memorable and fun experience...loved the group we were seated with! The food and drinks were delicious! The one thing that was lacking was servers not paying attention to detail when guests wanted a drink other than whiskey. Both I and another guest had to wave the server down to get drinks. Also, it would have been great to have a choice of wines by the glass. My wife chose wine and we had to purchase an entire bottle, as opposed to 1 or 2 glasses. Overall, it was a lovely experience and we intend to return the next time we are in Park City.

We are locals and took friends to the Nelson Cottage over the break. What an experience! It was over two hours which began outdoors on their patio where they had a fire pit and heated lamps and distributing hors d'oeuvres and drinks. We then moved indoors where the tasting menu began. It is a communal experience with family style shared food brought to the table. Its great meeting others around you, and enjoying food and drinks. We opted out of the whiskey pairing but the whiskey sommelier provided us with great knowledge about the whiskey. The food was delicious. Overall, a very high quality, unique experience and for the price, it can't be beat.

We had the pleasure of attending a very special dinner at the Cottage. The evening started outdoors around the fire with a delicious cocktail and creative passed appetizers.

We then moved inside for a bit of history about High West and the Cottage. The “whisky som” was not only knowledgeable, but delightful and a joy to speak with. In fact, all the staff was truly amazing. Thet made the evening feel more like a dinner with friends than at a restaurant. Everyone was attentive with genuine caring ensuring we were taken cared of in every way.

Of course the highlight of the evening is the food and the whisky pairing. The food was prepared perfectly, each course showcasing the creativity chef and his staff. The pairing was a wonderful way to experience the High West family of spirits. The house smoked salmon accentuated the spicy notes of its paired whisky and is a reason to come back. The other highlight was the wagyu tomahawk rib eye. That said, there wasn’t an item served that wasn’t plentiful and scrumptious.

Dinner at the cottage is more than a food and whisky lovers delight, it’s an experience not to be missed. It is a slice of what makes Park City so great, it’s a nod to the spirit of the West and those who blazed the trail before us. The staff made the night memorable and one I am looking forward to experiencing again.

We have been trying to have dinner at the distillery in Park City but the wait is always so long!! When we found the Stevens Cottage option online, we jumped on it for our son's 27th birthday. We made reservations about a month in advance for the 5:30 pm seating. We arrived just before that time and sat outside sipping hot toddies. Then we were shown to our table in the cozy cottage. Our group of 4 sat at able of 8 and a lovely cheese board was served. Between dinner courses there were explanations of the wonderful food and the whiskey pairings being served. There was time to ask questions of the chef and the whiskey som. The atmosphere was wonderful and we all enjoyed our meal, our amazing dessert and all the whiskey!!

Fantastic High West Distillery outpost right off of Main Street. Housed in a charming 1908 house that has been carefully and beautifully renovated, the restaurant is the first to combine whiskey tasting and a gourmet menu in PC. If you love whiskey or are just curious this is a great place to taste and learn. The seating and the menu is family style. Menu is creative, seasonal and finely executed by a talented chef. Whiskey pairing is available for each course, but wine and beer is available as well. Great addition to the PC restaurant scene.
