We enjoyed the food, but seem to be only 1 server for a large group & a few other tables. Had to wait a long time after asking for something like a refill on our drinks or even just to order
My wife, and I met with friends for dinner. We had great conversation, good food, and nice service by the staff. 3 out of 4 of us had the crab cakes and sides, while another had the shrimp Alfredo fettuccini dish. Everything tasted fine. The staff adhered to our request for dietary concerns. One of our party has alpha gal, and cannot ingest any form of meat or dairy products. The staff saw to it that all requests were met without fail. Thanks for your attention to detail, it made for an enjoyable time !
went there for my birthday dinner with my family. Glad we used open table as they were really busy, but were seated right away. The food was good but the noise level is too high to have much conversation.
Neighbors is our go-to restaurant whenever we are in the Lynchburg area. Great food, great service and nice atmosphere
Our grandson asked to come for the cheesecake, a favorite. The booth was ready when we arrived after making a dinner reservation online. My wife likes fresh vegetables served as sides and Weight Watchers-friendly entrees. I enjoyed the choices of draft beer and seafood. Service is friendly and efficient. This is one of our favorite places to eat in the Lynchburg area. Food is always good here. Lunch specials offer a good value.
Easter brunch was amazing! Everything tasted so good that we couldn't pick a favorite!
Not bad. Could be better
We are never disappointed when we venture to Neighbor's Place. Good food, attentive service and a pleasant dining experience.
The staff were mostly friendly and accommodating, as usual. The meal was prepared adequately, however the risotto was under-cooked. Companion's chicken Alfredo was delicious and service was prompt. Overall pleasant experience!
The food was tasty but the meat was tough. The veggies were overcooked and kind of dry.
Outstanding food and great service. Do not overlook this as a choice to visit.
This was my fourth time at this restaurant and like other times, the atmosphere, service and ambience was spectacular. The food has always been delicious and above par. This time I ordered the Ahi Tuna (not the first time) and it was extremely salty. Again this was not the first time I ordered, but the first time it was overly salty, I could only manage a few bites before deciding it wasn't worth it. I'm not sure if there was a new chef in the kitchen, but I was just there the previous Saturday and ordered the same dish because it was so tasty and beautifully cooked. I will try it once more before I decide whether or not its worth an hour drive from Roanoke for this restaurant.
It is always an enjoyable meal at Neighbors Place!!
Neighbors is a great place for a special night. We love the crab chips!
Food was pretty good. Although the fries tasted like they were frozen fries that were just oven baked. The waiter seemed like he was rushing us. It was kinda loud. But overall still recommend it.
My wife and I was given a gift card for Neighbors and since we love eating there, we reserved our table on-line. Of course, their Skirt steak is the best! Service was great (even though they were busy), and we enjoyed our evening.
My wife and I have been here three times. All were for special occasions which is why we chose to come here versus a chain restaurant. The first visit was very nice and the food was good, at a good value. The second visit was very frustrating after being told we would be seated in a half an hour but waited an hour and a half to finally be sat at the bar to eat. We noticed they did take reservations so last weekend I made a reservation for 7 pm. Upon arrival I explained the frustration we had for our last visit, and wanted to know if we would be set for a reservation or we would have to wait. We were told we would have to wait but they didn't know how long, the vestibule was full of people and all very frustrated saying they have been waiting for anywhere from a half hour to an hour. Whether they have a reservation or not. Therefore on a very special evening for my wife and I, we left after waiting 20 minutes for fear of being strung along for hours again rather than enjoy dinner.
Wait staff was great, very personable, kitchen was fast and delicious.
Nice atmosphere, nice variety of entrees, speedy service..Great dessert and beverage menu
Excellent food! Wonder friendly staff
Food was good but ordered appetizer and it never came.
Was very impressed with this place! One of the best steaks I have ever had and the others' food was excellent as well. Very nice setting, good service. Wish there were more vegetarian options. Looking forward to going again.
My daughter and I had steak. Both were over cooked. Her med rare was med well. My med was well done.
Very enjoyable meal. A little noisy but everything else was great!
Food was excellent as always. We chose a time that was less crowded so there was no wait and the service was good. The food was well placed between drinks salads and meal.
Food was delicious. Would recommend making a reservation. Very busy.
We sat in the bar so we could watch football. Every time the back door opened a big whiff of cigarette smoke wafted in. I'm not a huge fan of that so be careful if you sit in the bar. I will definitely go back though!
Awesome place, excellent food. Cutely decorated. Price is good.
This was my second time here and the food was pretty good. It was a warm environment and somewhat cozy. However, when I placed our reservation online, I mentioned that it was our anniversary and asked if they could do something special if they did anything. At the end of the night, our waitress wasn't even aware it was our anniversary when I mentioned it! I don't mind that they didn't do anything, but it was a little disappointing for our special occasion.
I like this place more and more. Waiter was awesome and food is just soooo good. We became vegetarian about 3 months ago and that had delicious options. Just a great menu for everyone
We dined at The Neighbor's Place after reading all the positive reviews, and the experience did not disappoint. We enjoyed the beautiful outdoor seating overlooking the mountains, soaking in one of the last warm days of fall. Our waiter was phenomenal! Made great suggestions, had a lovely sense of humor, and was extremely prompt with refilling our drinks or accommodating us in any way.
For an appetizer, we shared the seared ahi tuna and an order of the shrimp and scallops over sauteed spinach. The ahi was very good. It was cooked a little more than I am accustomed to, however still very good. The shrimp and scallops were mediocre, but the bed of sauteed spinach with grated parmesan was amazing!
For our entrees we ordered the sesame salmon with green beans and mixed vegetables, the ribeye steak special with mixed vegetables and fries, and the cajun neighbor over the whole wheat pasta. The ribeye was cooked to temperature perfectly at medium rare. The mixed vegetables were very flavorful, and the green beans were amazing! The cajun neighbor was full of spice and very filling. The sesame salmon was disappointing. The flavor was nice, however after finding the fourth bone in the "filet", I stopped eating it.
All in all, a wonderful experience. I would definitely return, however I would not order the salmon again.
Great food and fantastic service! Will definitely be back!
Friends came in from out of town and took them there to impress. The Neighbors Place did not disappoint in quality, selection and service.
The crab cakes and mushroom risotto was excellent. Highly recommended!
This is our second visit. We went back because the first was very good. Lamb chops were excellent and the fish and chips good too.
First meeting with new friends.
This restaurant is in a very busy area in Forest called Wyndhurst. It is always busy and the noise level is loud, which makes it difficult for business meetings and private conversations. I always ask for a booth to block some of the noise. The sandwiches and salads are always good. I had the ahi tuna salad and it was very good. My guest had a Caesar salad with chicken.
The food was great. I had scallops-perfectly seared-on a bed of perfectly seasoned spinach and a side spinach salad (fresh, perfectly sized and balanced with a great dressing). Sorry, realize I keep saying perfect, but it really was! My husband had steak and shrimp. They retained their individual flavors in the sauce and it has been awhile since he has had a steak that was cooked exactly as he ordered. They had "honest" mixed drinks, i.e. you could actually taste alcohol and not just mixer. It was a nice afternoon and we were the first ones to eat out on their spacious deck and that was really nice. Our waiter was Nelson, who was great! Good recommendations and explanations. He didn't hover and keep asking if everything was ok or if we were enjoying the food, as is common now, to the point of being annoying, but we were, from a distance, constantly in his radar. Water, when depleted, just appeared; when a drink was finished, he came and asked if we would like another. He paced delivery of drinks, courses, etc. very well. Beware of the desserts! We usually just share one ( and they are smaller than I would normally make at home) but we couldn't decide on a share, so we each got one. He got the brownie (2 actually) with pretzel crust (nice sweet/salty vibe) with ice cream (two scoops) and chocolate and caramel sauce. I got the mocha pie (Nelson said they make their own ice cream) which came on an Oreo crust and was covered with whipped cream and also drizzled with both chocolate and caramel. It was the biggest dessert I have ever seen as well as being inexpensive (maybe 6 dollars?)! My hand measures roughly 8x5 inches at its longest and widest and this dessert wedge was as wide as my hand at the base, and both taller and longer than 8 in. It would have been a meal in itself if we had not already had a lovely meal. If we lived in Lynchburg, we would probably go in for dessert and coffee in lieu of dinner.
Thanks for a nice evening!
With the hottest nights of July, their air condition went out! However, the staff couldn't have been nicer and there were maintenance people working on the unit that evening. Still, the meal was fantastic! We both had seafood entres which were delicious and cooked just right! We'll look forward to going back soon!
It was a little hot. The waitress said they had the air on as low as it could go but it was still warmer than we would have liked it to be. The food was excellent as it always is. Service was great.
Our meal was very good, steaks cooked just right. Service was pretty good too. I did have to ask for bread with salad . Unfortunately it is pretty loud which makes it not so easy to talk with your dinner companions
