Their gnocchi with lobster is to die for! For dessert, I had their bread pudding, which was a dream coming true - it was made out of croissants, filled with lovely melted chocolate plus a generous amount of delicious whipped cream. It was amazing! For entré, we also had the lamb and fish with potato croquette. Both were good, but the lobster gnocchi was everyones´favorite. The appetizers (French Onion Soup, Crab Cakes, and Paté with baguette) were fine but if you want to save some money, indulge in the entrés and desserts instead!

I have always liked this restaurant very much, so I expected a great meal for Valentine's Day. However, both the short ribs and lamb were seasoned with overwhelming amounts of rosemary, and the lamb was well done despite requesting it as medium rare. Furthermore the restaurant hiked their prices up considerably, just because it was Valentine's Day. A very disappointing experience.

The food and service were exemplary! The only problem was being in a small room with two very loud obnoxious women. It’s too bad they couldn’t have toned down their conversation and laughter a bit.

Service was great! The tomato bisque was delicious, but the trout was just okay. We enjoyed the atmosphere and being in downtown Davis!

Mustard Seed is off its game right now. Service still fine, ambience okay. Wasn't happy to have to dine out on the covered patio--I know I reserved late, but they might have warned me. Food--surprisingly mediocre, given their track record or history. Duck both tough and tasteless. Onion soup tasted suspiciously like it came out of a jar. Pate kind of blah. Not bad exactly, but not what it has been or could be. Makes me remember Soga's around the block a few years back when they sold the restaurant and apparently left behind the recipe book while forgetting to leave directions on how to cook it. If this once is typical, then for the moment I'd say Bernardo's around the corner is probably the best in Davis.

Afterthought: excellent glass of pinot, though.

The Mustard Seed is our "go-to" spot for pre-Mondavi concert dining. The food is always outstanding at Mustard Seed, and the service is solid (very friendly staff). The last few times, we have been seated in the outside area, which in winter time is enclosed, with heaters.
