   We celebrated our wedding anniversary at the Mustard Seed and had a lovely time. The service was great and the good was delicious. I can't have gluten and the restaurant was really accommodating from the appetizer to dessert.

   Overall an ideal special-occasion place. Seated promptly at our reserved table; wonderfully attentive but not intrusive service; patient with reservation changes--give advance warning if you're reducing a larger party size; outdoor space was just right & very comfortable with heater; they let us take time over drinks and apps, lounge and talk without any sense of being rushed to entree stage or out the door; we could hear each other nicely; I could see feeling a little too close if all tables full outside (there was an empty two-top next to us give us enough buffer from other conversations). Food: very good. Pesto pasta dish had beautifully al dente pappardelle, shrimp were huge and just right; duck was deliciously tender. Salmon carpaccio lovely with fennel and citrus. Pricey, but experience was a pretty good match to the price tag. This was second time here. I will go again for next Davis-based special meal out, and can also imagine trying this out for non-occasion light dinner of soup or app with one of their delicious sounding salads.

   Outstanding meal, as always. The food was superb, crab cakes starter, cioppino, and rack of lamb, each delicious. Finished off with chocolate croissant bread pudding, hard to beat. Also, the service was impeccable. Still best in Davis for all aspects.

   Even though I was running late for my reservation the hostess was gracious and welcoming. The selection for lunch had variety and value. My friend and I had the Tomato Bisque and half sandwich. It was perfect. We lingered for quite awhile after finishing our lunch and no one tried to rush us out the door. I will certainly have future meals at the Mustard Seed.

    Food was ok but not special. Pricing (high) suggested special but food was just ordinary good. Noise level was high, making conversation difficult at times. To be fair, one table (person) out of 20 was the source of the annoying shrieking.

    Took our granddaughter, who is a student at UCD, for special dinner. It was a first for all of us, dining at Davis, since we live inBay Area. Restaurant was cozy, and we had a great table in a corner, so conversation was easy. Staff was friendly and efficient. Gratefully, no hovering.Menu worked for us. Had crab cakes, salmon, lamb, and beef ragu. Well prepared, and served. We liked everything. Thought the food was a bit overpriced, but could be mistaken, as we have not not eaten out much since Covid. Overall, a nice experience

    The mustard seed is a very cute little restaurant With an intimate setting! The service was great and the food was delicious! I had the lamb, which was perfectly cooked and the sauce was delicious! My boy friend had the the pork, which the mustard sauce was amazing! I will definitely go back!

    Visited the resturant for the first time. I found the entire experience to be one of the best in many years. The staff was very helpful and the meal and wine was execelent. I highly recommend this resturant and will return very soon.

    Planned to meet friend there, who was delayed in traffic. Wait staff energetically described appetizers so we could “stall”,app & entrees delicious, allowed us to stay & visit even though restaurant had closed for lunch. Excellent service & food, crab cakes super. Enjoyed their take on the sauce (no Mayo based, flavored soy was good).

    Looking forward to eating here again and trying more items. Our party had mixed reviews about the food. For example, salad had way too much dressing and the potato leek soup was bland. Scallops could’ve used more flavor but the red curry sauce was delicious. Ragu and duck got high marks. Desserts are yummy. Service was impeccable.

    A knock-your-socks-off experience. From the attentive service to the phenomenal food, this was a phenomenal dinner. The blue cheese on the pear salad made a wonderful dish spectacular. The lamb chops were the best we've ever eaten. So tender and flavorful, and perfectly cooked! The barbecue sauce provided with the chops was not needed and would have masked the delicate seasoning if it wasn't easily scraped off. The accompanying roast vegetables were also delicious. And the crowning jewel of the night was the bread pudding made with croissants, real whipped cream (perfectly sweetened) and delicious chocolate shavings that was to die for, especially when we combined it with a glass of Taylor Flagate 10-year tawny port. A 10-star meal in a cozy quiet patio nicely heated with gas heaters.

    Everything was wonderful about this meal with the exception of the meat choice - the ribeye was much too fatty and would be best substituted by a leaner cut, perhaps filet mignon, New York, or Sirloin.

    This restaurant is always consistent with it’s excellent cuisine and service. The owners are present and working during the entire experience. The reservations times are well planned and I don’t recall ever being seated late. I would recommend this place as my favorite restaurant in the Davis area!

    Appreciated the restaurant calling ahead of time to move up our start time so we would have plenty of time to enjoy our meal and get to the Mondavi Center for 7:30 concert. Food was good and service very professional. Only concern was the very high prices for entrees.
