The Morgan Dining Room
Needs proper ventilation. It was a bit stuffy. I felt it in my throat right away. We moved to the cafe. It was wonderful.
Have dined here for years- many times
The Cobb salad in courtyard cafe has greens that we’re wilted and old
Felt ill later in day
Called health department to report
Don’t understand how they have gotten. Lazy or careless or both at the Morgan kitchen
It’s is a beautiful venue, but the food part is sinking
Reports here of slow and inconsistent service in the formal dining room as well as too small portions I have experienced all of these too last couple
Can someone there please pay attention!!
Our lamb was VERY rare and we sent it back to be cooked more. It was delicious and perhaps our waiter should have warned us about it as we ordered.
This was a lovely place for a Mother's Day lunch. The pre-fixe menu was delicious and a great value. I wish there had been time to see the museum that day, but the dining room is a great option on its own or with a museum visit. Getting our dessert got a bit delayed, but the server fixed it as soon as we asked about it. I look forward to returning.
The Morgan Dining Room NEVER disappoints. The food is innovative and interesting, but also delicious and well-presented. The service is impeccable! We never feel rushed, and always feel as if we have our server's undivided attention. No trip to NYC is complete for us without a trip to the Morgan for at least one dinner.
The setting here is very attractive and it is an excellent place to eat if you are in the neighborhood, and especially if you are seeing an exhibit at the Morgan. The food - in particular the chilled corn chowder with almond milk and a touch of crabmeat - was delicious. Our server was very attentive most of the time but the orders did not come out at the same time, we were not served bread until we asked for it, twice, and the check took much too long a time to get to us after we requested it, again twice. There might have been something wrong with the computer that day but these things all took too long.
Our waiter was overly chatty and everything took a long time to arrive. But the food was good and the location even better.
Ambiance and service excellent. Food delicious, but spending $36 for an omelette and coffee was ridiculous. There were NOT enough vegetarian choices. I ordered the omelet without the ham.
Great food, great service but a loud until it cleared out a bit.
Meal was subpar - menu sounded much better than the food actually was.
Nice venue, good food, and pleasant service but REALLY SLOW. The interval between our appetizer and our entree was significant (on a day they were serving a price fix planned menu).
A quiet oasis in the city. Attentive service, high quality food.
I could very well be mistaken, but I thought that members were entitled to a 10% discount in the dining room. I mentioned to our server that I am a member (ID# 143162) but the bill showed no discount. It's not a big deal but, if a discount is a perk of membership, it is a nice one to have. So do let me know.
Portions were soooo small...not good value at all...and prices not cheap
Very tasty food that was well prepared. Service was impeccable!
Wonderful place to have a meal while visiting the Morgan. Food is delicious though expensive and very small portions for the money. Really only for a very special occasion. The Morgan is a very special place.
Great food and service. Not 5 stars only because the menu is quite limited.
THe Morgan Cafe is a lovely place to meet friends, and to enjoy lunch before or after visiting the exhibitions. I have not been satisfied with the food for some time. Portions are small. Last Sunday I have Harvest Salad, which was all greens (no dressing) and a few pieces of squash---very overpriced.
The Morgan Dining Rooms is one of the gems in the city: elegant setting, attentive service, exquisite food.
Reservations wonderfully handled. good staff to greet us. menu was interesting and varied. Two minor issues with the food. The omelette, while good and with a fresh salad, looked a bit naked on a white plate - perhaps a small bit of chopped parsley sprinkled on it might have given it a better presence. A request for hot water with lemon was delivered with a smile..... all in all my guests had a very good time. thank you.
Quiet and relaxed.
Good spot to know about in that area
The menu could be a little broader. Tables are a little close together, but I understand the limitations of the space.
it is nice to stay in museum all day. That is what we did. Could not get it all in before lunch.
It was very nice. The food was excellent. Probably since they're mostly open just for lunch, and not a big place, the menu was limited. But we will go again.
Nice setting, nice food - Bad service
The place is outstanding and the food is good. They simply do not care about you - keep you waiting with no one attending you at arrival and after.
The food was excellent. Service was slow, despite the Dining Room only being about 25% full.
We had a nice meal at the Morgan. The pork belly and the risotto were both very good and the three martini lunch was a lot of fun.
Ran out of half the menu and bread. Was over 50 dollars per person. Eggs were made in small iron skillet brought to table but were black on the bottom. Also found a hair in the food. Crazy.
Great place for a meal. Very attentive service. Would go back again
We had Sunday brunch at the Morgan Dining Room. The room was smaller than we expected but it is pleasant and quiet. Service was a little slow, but perhaps we need to not always move at New York speed! Both of our entrees - the risotto and the lobster - were fantastic. The salmon and potato cakes for a first course were also excellent. Well worth a try.
A magnificent experience. A little pricey, but well worth it.
A great place. The service was wonderful, and the food was terrific!
A lovely elegant place to dine with quite good food . Three of us had a chance to have a nice get-together
The food on the Prix Fixe was small but adequate for lunch. The wine was good and very reasonable.
Service was slow but relaxing for us ( we were not in a hurry).
Highly recommend the dessert - Flourless chocolate cake - excellent.
I visited the Morgan Dining Room during Restaurant week. The set menu was disappointing. One of the two appetizers was polenta with egg and truffle but unfortunely the polenta was lukewarm, and the truffle not very flavorful. I chose the most interesting of the three main dishes, a vegetarian pot-au-feu, which turned out to be a few sad brown vegetables with very little broth (no spoon was available) and some more truffle shaving. There were some pleasant tasting notes (a faint acidity) but the quantity and presentation of vegetables felt inadequate for a vegetarian main dish. I left hungry and unhappy.
Honestly I wish we had eaten in the cafe instead. The food was mediocre at best and an awful value. The dishes lacked flavor and were 3 items thrown on a plate. Ingredients were downgraded zucchini for chorale mushrooms and shrimp for lobster but I’m not sure they would have even helped the dishes.
For the fact there were perhaps 10 tables the level of follow up and quality of service was poor.
I would definitely not recommend eating here.
Charming, delightful and good value for the area - my new spot to meet for brunch.
Small portions, but adequate and tasty. Reasonable prices for New York. Good service. The room was moderately noisy until a large group left, otherwise a pleasant lunch in lovely surroundings.
Elegant best-kept secret but must make reservations through open-table because it's small. The chef is wonderfully creative, and the soups never disappoint. The service is gracious, and "Iran", a rather new server to this restaurant is superbly attentive, yet unobtrusive - he's a delight. Even when full - and it usually is - it encourages quiet conversation.
Very good first experience however I was not offered bread and it took a bit long for someone to come over and acknowledge me and pour water, which I would understand if it was very busy but it was very quiet. Overall the food was high quality despite having small portions, I would come back.
