The Morgan Dining Room
Good food, great service. Lovely room with atmosphere. Not cheap but worth the experience
Food was very good. Except for the baguette, which was so chewy and tough that you had to use your teeth, it was impossible to tear by hand.
And the mains took a half hour, there had to be some mistake in the kitchen. We complained, to no avail.
Lovely dining room. Limited menu and very pricy. The food was well presented but the portions are teeny tiny.
It was quaint and wonderful! Food was delicious and the ambiance perfect for a quiet lunch.
We had an outstanding meal at the Morgan Dining Room during restaurant - great food, great service, great value. Worth a trip even if you are not visiting the Morgan Library.
Good food, a little pricey, but you really didn’t get the feel of the museum in the dining room. Service and server were great!
The Morgan Dining Room is an oasis of calm and gentility - the perfect respite from the hectic pace outside its doors.
Appetizer and entree were delicious although rather salty. Dessert was disappointing, a peach triffle was bland and the peaches were hard. Overall very pleasant. The dining room is elegant and beautiful.
Set around the surroundings of a 19th century dining room is a comfortable modern restaurant setting. On Sunday they had their brunch menu which was with an alcoholic beverage + 2 courses for $27. Their normal menu is also well-appointed and reasonably priced. A great escape from the business of more commercial restaurants, especially if you like to mix culture with your dining. The Morgan Library always has wonderful and important exhibitions to visit.
Lovely setting with excellent food.
Excellent staff from the maitre’d to the helpful and kind waiters. A very enjoyable experience. Delicious food included heirloom tomatoes and salmon tartar
Waitperson (several teeth missing) forgot requests. First we were rushed to order and then wait for food was too long..in a dining room perhaps 80% empty. Salmon appetizer was tough and tasteless. “Cheesecake” style dessert was disappointing in flavor and texture. All inappropriate at the price.
slightly gloomy inner room - perhaps better in depths of winter; chatty but intermittent service; Peeky Toe crab tartine almost entirely avocado on toast with barely a peek of peekytoe. Bread (cut baguette) was impressively challenging to the jaw, but would work fine filling in holes in sheetrock. You can do this better at home folks
A quiet oasis from within one of New York City's premier rare books libraries, a good selection of light food in an old-world atmosphere. A treasure to visit when you cannot think where else to go.
This was an overall excellent experience. The waiter was very pleasant snd efficien, and the food was very good.
The vegetables were oversalted; therefore, not edible.
Wine was outstanding California vintage.
Bass was nothing special.
I was disappointed in the food.
Our reservation was at 2:15 pm, and we knew you closed at 5 pm. Our waitress, who appeared annoyed and disappeared at 3pm and left her husband to tend to us. We felt a bit rushed from beginning to end. "The kitchen closes in two minutes" was our introduction by the waitress, etc. Not a good feeling.
It was a special meeting place for us. We are from California and met a friend, who lives in NYC. We had not seen each other for 20 years.
Great value for money. Lot of style. Feels like you are in a very expensive place. Authentic American.
Everything was excellent, with the exception of the mini baguette which was chewy. The pork belly on polenta was scrumptious, as was the strawberry-rhubarb cheesecake dessert. The ambiance is lovely. An oasis in the heart of the city.
Needs proper ventilation. It was a bit stuffy. I felt it in my throat right away. We moved to the cafe. It was wonderful.
Have dined here for years- many times
The Cobb salad in courtyard cafe has greens that we’re wilted and old
Felt ill later in day
Called health department to report
Don’t understand how they have gotten. Lazy or careless or both at the Morgan kitchen
It’s is a beautiful venue, but the food part is sinking
Reports here of slow and inconsistent service in the formal dining room as well as too small portions I have experienced all of these too last couple
Can someone there please pay attention!!
Our lamb was VERY rare and we sent it back to be cooked more. It was delicious and perhaps our waiter should have warned us about it as we ordered.
This was a lovely place for a Mother's Day lunch. The pre-fixe menu was delicious and a great value. I wish there had been time to see the museum that day, but the dining room is a great option on its own or with a museum visit. Getting our dessert got a bit delayed, but the server fixed it as soon as we asked about it. I look forward to returning.
The Morgan Dining Room NEVER disappoints. The food is innovative and interesting, but also delicious and well-presented. The service is impeccable! We never feel rushed, and always feel as if we have our server's undivided attention. No trip to NYC is complete for us without a trip to the Morgan for at least one dinner.
The setting here is very attractive and it is an excellent place to eat if you are in the neighborhood, and especially if you are seeing an exhibit at the Morgan. The food - in particular the chilled corn chowder with almond milk and a touch of crabmeat - was delicious. Our server was very attentive most of the time but the orders did not come out at the same time, we were not served bread until we asked for it, twice, and the check took much too long a time to get to us after we requested it, again twice. There might have been something wrong with the computer that day but these things all took too long.
Our waiter was overly chatty and everything took a long time to arrive. But the food was good and the location even better.
Ambiance and service excellent. Food delicious, but spending $36 for an omelette and coffee was ridiculous. There were NOT enough vegetarian choices. I ordered the omelet without the ham.
Great food, great service but a loud until it cleared out a bit.
Meal was subpar - menu sounded much better than the food actually was.
Nice venue, good food, and pleasant service but REALLY SLOW. The interval between our appetizer and our entree was significant (on a day they were serving a price fix planned menu).
A quiet oasis in the city. Attentive service, high quality food.
I could very well be mistaken, but I thought that members were entitled to a 10% discount in the dining room. I mentioned to our server that I am a member (ID# 143162) but the bill showed no discount. It's not a big deal but, if a discount is a perk of membership, it is a nice one to have. So do let me know.
Portions were soooo small...not good value at all...and prices not cheap
Very tasty food that was well prepared. Service was impeccable!
Wonderful place to have a meal while visiting the Morgan. Food is delicious though expensive and very small portions for the money. Really only for a very special occasion. The Morgan is a very special place.
Great food and service. Not 5 stars only because the menu is quite limited.
THe Morgan Cafe is a lovely place to meet friends, and to enjoy lunch before or after visiting the exhibitions. I have not been satisfied with the food for some time. Portions are small. Last Sunday I have Harvest Salad, which was all greens (no dressing) and a few pieces of squash---very overpriced.
The Morgan Dining Rooms is one of the gems in the city: elegant setting, attentive service, exquisite food.
Reservations wonderfully handled. good staff to greet us. menu was interesting and varied. Two minor issues with the food. The omelette, while good and with a fresh salad, looked a bit naked on a white plate - perhaps a small bit of chopped parsley sprinkled on it might have given it a better presence. A request for hot water with lemon was delivered with a smile..... all in all my guests had a very good time. thank you.
Quiet and relaxed.
Good spot to know about in that area
The menu could be a little broader. Tables are a little close together, but I understand the limitations of the space.
