About The Montgomery Inn - Original
When we say our ribs are famous, we mean it. Enjoyed by actors, athletes, and every U.S. President since Gerald Ford, they’re hand-spiced and slow-roasted daily, then finished off on our custom broiler. But Matula’s secret recipe sauce is the real star, made with only the finest California tomatoes and a super-secret blend of all-natural spices. And don’t worry about wearing a bib. It’s a good look.
Our world-famous ribs are definitely a hard act to follow. That’s why we also offer equally out-of-this-world entrées and combos, signature appetizers, soups and salads, and seriously decadent desserts. And if you have little ones who refuse to eat anything that’s not a nugget, children’s menus are available as well.
Whether it’s lunch, dinner, or carryout, there’s always something delicious you’ll want to try. But if you always decide to go with the ribs, we’re fine with that too.

The Montgomery Inn - Original Ratings and Reviews
We picked Montgomery Inn as our out-of-town friend had a craving for ribs. We were seated quickly thanks to the Open Table reservation, but we were seated in an area where they later on had a live radio show, which wasn’t made clear upon assigning our seats. Our table was next to a speaker, which made it impossible to have a decent conversation. After complaining to our server, we were given the table behind us, but it barely made a dent in the noise level. The manager explained that nothing could be done. Quite a disappointment. Aside from a cheap apology, nothing was done to make up for our ruined evening out with our friend. Not the Montgomery Inn experience we had hoped for 😟
The service was great, starting with the hostesses to the bar staff to the server. The food was fantastic! We had not been to the Original Montgomery Inn in many years, and were so pleasantly surprised. We will be back! We were celebrating my dad's 85th birthday, and the California Salmon dish was much to his liking! He was so happy we chose this restaurant for his special day.
Yes, we picked Montgomery Inn to go to dinner when two people in our small group do not eat ribs. It was the perfect choice! Try the grilled chicken - we did. Try the grilled salmon - we did. They also had a special - 2 for $22 - appetizer with the main course and a side. Best deal. Of course, we also got the Saratoga chips - always outstanding!! The service was outstanding-- we were taken care of by our waitress and another waitress They were covering each other's tables so everyone always had everything we needed.
A+ for service and food on a Friday night.
In the past, we loved coming here. Not so much on Sat night. Made a res in advance, 6 of us. Got there early for a drink. Receptionists seemed a bit confused. Bartenders were confused as well. We found seats at the seating area next to the bar. We were seated at our reservation time. The service was extremely slow; it was not busy. Res was for 7:15. We were served our dinner approximately 8:30. No appetizers, 1 drink. It was a long wait. Again, by that time it was even less crowded than when we arrived. My dinner was average at best: shrimp with sweet potato. The waitress gave us our checks when we finally flagged her down and mentioned that the bill "might not be accurate" (or something). It was definitely not correct for 2 of the 3 couples. I had recommended the Montgomery Inn to my friends since I live nearby. I'm sorry I did. It was not the great experience I had hoped for; especially since 2 of my friends had never been there before and were excited to go. A glass of wine was $10.50. Wow. I'm not sure I'll return. My husband and I were fairly disappointed at the evening. It was an expensive night for us all and while we enjoyed the company, I don't think the dinner was worth the cost. The service was very slow and it wasn't a very crowded night. Sorry this was not the best review; wish it had been better.
The food is good and the service is too. We were a little disappointed that we didn't get bread with the meal or even see cornbread as an option. Would love to have been able to get a 1/4 rack of the smoked and a 1/4 rack of the traditional. We all enjoyed ourselves and would probably go back there.
The server and manager would not accept the use of a $50 gift card for Montgomery Inn, purchased earlier in the day at Kroger. We had bought a gift card for my son to use on his date out of convenience. It was far from that as we had to pay, awkwardly, over the phone using a different credit card.
I hate giving a bad review, but I don't want someone else to have the same bad experience. The ribs was tough and the brisket was mostly fat, I have never been more disappointed! We was celebrating our 27th anniversary, had it not been for our own company the night would have been a total disaster.
Seems to be surviving on reputation. Nice atmosphere. Efficient but not very friendly server. The ribs and brisket were tasty. Margaritas were icy and weak. Mac and cheese tasted like it was straight out of the can. Cornbread was cold. Montgomery inn will need to do better to survive long-term as many great restaurants as there are in Cincinnati. In my opinion, really overpriced for the quality of the food and drinks.
Six of us, including two preschoolers, had dinner on a Thursday at 5:30. We started with the warm potato chips dipped in BBQ sauce. They were great. One order would have been enough for all of us... very generous portion!
Roasted BBQ chicken was delicious, crab cakes were okay (no lump crab there), ribs were okay (meat was falling off bone but dry), and pork chop was good. Kids' chicken tenders were huge and delicious. Baked potato seemed to have been sitting for a while prior to serving (not a fluffy russet), MAC and cheese was okay, green beans were fresh and delicious.
Overall, this is a local favorite and a destination spot with ample portions of comfort food.
