Everything perfect but the price

Outstanding food, service and ambiance - perfect without being stuffy

One of our go-to favorites. A special and always entertaining prix fixe menu. A little pricey but worth every dollar. The waitstaff is smooth and always nearby. We will return soon and often.

There are 2 dining options. We dined in what they call the formal dining room which is a very open and light space looking into the courtyard of the museum - very nice. You get a menu that is a 4 by 4 by 4 by 4 or I think they also offer a tasting menu of 6-8 courses. We did the 4 by 4 by etc.. The choices were good and the food was great - all you would expect from a michelin 2 star restaurant.

Amazing restaurant, they very much deserve the two Michelin stars!

Exceptional in every way.

The prices are nosebleed high for what one gets, and service a bit overweening with headwaiter presuming we knew little or nothing about wines or sources of certain foods. Beautiful presentation and excellent cuisine in very small portions. Handsome setting overlooking garden of MOMA.

The Modern is one of the best restaurants in NY.

Food was great but it took 10 minutes for a bartender to even look at us at the bar, and service was slow and servers pretentious
We arrived 10 minutes before reservation time and there was no table. We got a seat like 10 minutes after. So overall not perfect

Delightful, memorable, delicious. Many tables were celebrating special occasions (as were we) on Saturday night. The staff was exceptional--always professional, never intimidating. They made it seem as though they really wanted us to enjoy every moment and every morsel. We did! And next time we are in NY, we will definitely return.

Excellent: the food, the ambiance, the staff! Could not have enjoyed ourselves more. The 4 course dinner was so tasty, different and filling. The staff all worked together so well that it was a seamless steam of attention. Look forward to another trip to the city to eat at this wonderful restaurant!

The food is good, service is excellent, broad, interesting and reasonably priced wine list, but a bit disappointing overall compared to many two Michelin star restaurants. Everything was perfectly fine, but the food just didn't stand out the way I'd expect given their rating.

Worth the price - one word to describe our late lunch: perfect!

Another fabulous lunch! One of my top restaurants in NYC and the whole world... a Must if you’re in NYC!

As ususal, the visit to The Modern was terrific. We consider the restaurant one of our go-to places for special events or an impressive venue for out-of-town guests or business prospects.
The service was quite good and the food was, with one exception, memorable. One guest in our party found her chicken dish to be overcooked and dry.
One criticism, the sommelier didn't devote any time to exploring what her guests were looking for in the way of a taste profile or price point. She seemed hurried and, after only asking what the food selection was, she presented three moderately expensive (i.e., unacceptably priced) alternatives. When asked for a more "value-oriented" alternative in the same varietal family,
she grudgingly presented one alternative at a 15% lower price point.
All-in-all, our visit to The Modern was enjoyable and we expect to return (many times)!

The food was very good. Long time between courses so dont go if you are in a rush. Is a good choice for a special dining experience.

Celery butter with milk was impressive, but it was not on the menu. In general, the food and service was acceptable. However, it feels too hustle bustle during our dinner. The service did not put us at ease. The music was a bit too loud.

Superb food, wine list, wait staff and sommelier service (both very very friendly and helpful), ambience, and the location which is looking out at the Modern Museum's outdoor sculpture garden.

We celebrated our engagement here and it was absolutely perfect! Each of the staff came to greet us and congratulate us which was incredible. The service felt quite personal and connected. The food and the service was outstanding. Nothing could’ve been improved because it was simply perfect. The wines that were recommended by the sommelier was splendid. Thank you to all the wonderful staff at The Modern for making our day so special!

Wonderful as always

One of the best meals I’ve ever had. We ordered the 4 course dinner, each a taste treat, wonderful textures and flavors ...perfect portions, beautifully presented. Great service.

Lovely room and pleasant service though not as attentive as I would have expected. Food excellent, especially celery root soup, chicken entree and apple creme fraiche dessert. Three courses for lunch is a bit much for us but we enjoyed being there. Next time we will try The Modetn Barroom.

The service was phenomenal! Forrest was so attentive, the wanted us to let him how long we would stay in order to ensure our dishes were brought out in a timely fashion. All other wait service were also very attentive and engaging.

Everything was amazing and the service was impeccable! I was also invited to take a picture in the kitchen with the chefs who make the magic happen. This is an incredible dining experience. I would highly recommend this venue.

This restaurant never fails to please. The food is superb. This service is top notch.

Modern does not deserve its 2 Michelin stars. Way over priced with a tab of $400/couple without alcohol. Our first course didn’t arrive until over 1 hr 15 minutes after our arrival, which included a 10 minute wait for our reserved table). There was only a perfunctory apology for the wait. The waitstaff were relatively inattentive, causing us to be searching the room for attention multiple times. With a couple of exceptions, the food selections did not reach multiple star levels.
