About The Modern
The Modern is a 2 Michelin-starred contemporary American restaurant at the Museum of Modern Art. Helmed by Executive Chef Abram Bissell, the restaurant features refined, playful dishes that highlight exceptional ingredients and seasonality in a $168 four-course menu and a $228 eight-course tasting menu. Lunch offers a $138 three-course menu or $178 six-course menu. Master Sommelier Michaël Engelmann's extensive selection of wines showcases exceptional diversity and value.
The Modern accepts reservations 28 days in advance. The restaurant also includes the vibrant and lively Bar Room (reservations encouraged), terrace for seasonal outdoor enjoyment, and bar & lounge to welcome walk-ins. The Kitchen Table offers a custom tasting menu for up to four guests in the heart of the restaurant's world-class kitchen.

The Modern was excellent. We got the 8-course meal, which was delightful. So many of these places can be pretentious, but my wife and I didn't get that impression at all. The service was efficient but relaxed. It was a wonderful evening. I will say the last dessert was a bit of a misfire, as the citrus ice cream had an unpleasant bite to it. We should have sent it back and asked for something on the menu. That said, the chocolate with pop rocks in it made up for it!
An amazing restaurant : art and the art of food . Always inventive the best ingredients and a beautiful presentation . Great value for this good adventure and a special place to dine . Only one complaint is the house made sparkling water . Badoit is 1000 better the cuisine deserves a better wart
Everything about my lunch was Impeccable. The space is lovely, the flowers beautiful, the settings clean and elegant. Each item on the menu sounded exceptional; my problem was making a choice. The cuisine is fresh and creative but without overbearing sauces or techniques. Everything was delicious.
What an amazing experience. Kevin Browne is just the host you want every time . He did such an amazing job . I was a little upset at first but he totally made up for everything and a lot more. Amazing food, amazing service, amazing experience. Will definitely go back again... a true Michelin star restaurant.. By far my favorite...
Birthday . Sophisticated but not overly complex dishes . Delicious, different, varied. Liked some more than others and some were just great. There was not too many courses. It was the aright amount of dishes —no one got too stuffed.

The food is delicious and the presentation is artistically appealing. Our service was fantastic the wait staff is very attentive. All in all it was a lovely and memorable experience. It was our 25th wedding anniversary and we were presented with a very thoughtful and special dessert! My husband is not a wine drinker and he was thrilled to find his very favorite IPA on the beer menu. Jaialai!
Great restaurant. We went for the 8 course chefs tasting menu and every dish was vastly different, creative, yummy and presented really well. Excellent food. The service was on point with all the right touches of a fine dining experience. The only issue we had was the sommelier service lacked slightly. The sommelier came to the table at the beginning of the meal and did not return until the meal had started. When a lady came to drop a dish it turned out she was another sommelier and helped us with wine selection although asked us about budget when we asked for her to pick something that would pair well. Then the male sommelier came back and gave us selections and we finally started drinking wine by the third course. The wine was excellent but would have been nice to have had it a little quicker into service. That was not enough to deter us and we would definitely return and recommend this restaurant. Throughly enjoyed our meal and evening.
Compared to the price level and the two Michelin stars we were not impressed by the food.
Two or three of the eight course meal were very good, but we expected more.
The waiters were friendly and professional, but made a couple of mistakes: They mixed sparkling and still water in our glasses and they misspelled my girlfriends name in the birthday cake.
Furthermore it took to much time to get the menu and before they took our order. Therefore we had to rush through the eight courses.
Overall it was good food and a fine experience, but I've had better for under half the price.
Exquisite food presentation and taste, service, ambiance. Classy and superb. A notch above all the established top-tier NYC restaurants. Peek into the kitchen -- astounding! Put this at the top of one's list for "special occasion" dining. We'll be back. Thank you.
Great food and friendly service but at a 2 it is not ok to completely miss the wine service to the main course ... I had to point out that the wineglasses and wine was missing and when I did so they moved to get it served. They did however not remove the plates until I pointed out that they needed to that while the wine was served so we could enjoy warm food with the wine. The apologized of course but did nothing else to remedy the error. Unworthy a 2. Too bad but again food was great.
Dined for New Year’s Eve after travelling from the otherwise of the world to spends New Uears in NYC. Was simply sensational and nothing to fault. Food Devine, service sharp and understated and loved every moment. Bravo to the team. You were awesome

Stellar, professional service but sometimes cold and haughty (especially the sommelier). Small menu with either four or eight courses to choose from. Not very interesting from a pescatarian’s perspective. Stuffy atmosphere intended to cater to old rich people. Disorganized at reception desk.
