The Mill House
The Mill House applies an innovative approach to fresh, local ingredients in dishes that honor the cultures of those who emigrated from Japan, China, Spain, Korea, Portugal, and other distant lands to work in Maui’s sugarcane industry a century and more ago. All dining areas pay homage to Maui’s sugarcane history with reclaimed and restored pieces from the area’s now closed sugar mills.
When you make a reservation with The Mill House space is set aside at an indoor table for your comfort. Upon arrival, guests are seated in one of our four dining areas, with varying types of ambiance, and all open aired.
While the views from the lanai can be stunning, it is important to note that the weather varies. Swings between hot sunlight and cool breezes or rain are possible, making seating for this space unpredictable.

Food and service and ambiance were fabulous!
Wonderful service and great locally sourced food.
Really can’t recommend this place enough. Amazing views and fantastic food. Also, be sure to check out Soley Aloha’s art and clothing shop, which is located right next to the restaurant.
Amazing service with stunning views. Save room for Scoops ice cream next door!
Mahalo for dining with us! We're glad you enjoyed the amazing service and stunning views. Mahalo for the recommendation to visit The Scoop for some locally made ice cream and gelato, open daily from 10 am to 5 pm.
The restaurant is in a beautiful setting. But the food is not that great. If you want to spend $150 for two just to sit in a beautiful setting, go for it. For us, it is worth to go there once. But we won’t be going back. You can get better food at several other places on Maui.
Very cool vibe and gorgeous view of the mountains. The food was good but not great. Feel like if they dial in the menu this place will be amazing.
Everything about this place is phenomenal. Food, ambiance, and service. Shout out to Jamie our server, who really provides exceptional service. You need to order the eggplant shared plated. The flavors are so good!
Wonderful ambiance, great food. Great service! The view from the patio of the West Maui mountains reminds me of Kauai.
Aloha, Mercedes! We're glad you enjoyed the farm-driven cuisine, great service, and ambiance. The view of Waikapu Valley from the patio is unbeatable. Mahalo.
What a wonderful gem! The staff was so professional, friendly, and knowledgeable about their menu. Favorite dining experience in Maui.
Mahalo for considering us your favorite dining experience in Maui! We're delighted you enjoyed the friendly and knowledgeable service. Until next time!
Beautiful grounds. Fresh food and great servers. Unfortunately, this visit one of our meals was not put in with the initial order (forgotten) and the rest of our group was served their dinners and two of us (who were splitting that one meal) had to wait for the forgotten meal. They tried really hard to make up for their mistake by bringing out some extra appetizers and they also did not charge us for that one meal. Still disappointing as it kind of ruined the mood.
Fantastic food, beautiful view, and great service
Mahalo for dining at The Mill House!
Great place, been there a couple times now and every time it’s a good time
Aloha, Chris! We're thrilled you consider The Mill House to be a 5-star dining experience. Your continued support means the world to us. Mahalo.
Scenery was beautiful. We sat next to a pond looking at nā mauka.(the mountains ) It was our anniversary and quite a few of the staff wished us a happy anniversary. My steak was good, but not the best I’ve had on Maui. My wife enjoyed several pupu’s.( appetizers )
Maui is like a second home which we’ve cherished for decades, but recently we’ve also enjoyed Oahu for its more extensive restaurant options. Discovering The Mill House in Wailuku has been a great find in Maui. The food, advertised as farm to table, truly delivered as such. We shared a beet salad, roasted bone marrow appetizer, and a delicious agnolotti pasta. The beets melted in your mouth, the bone marrow served with their homemade warm flatbread crisps and a deliciously piquant ginger and onion condiment was a bite of heaven, and the pasta was exquisitely rich, tender and decadently flavorful. But this was just the food; the views of the mountains, pond, and pasture were stunning. The surrounding gardens in the waiting area were adorned with wildlife treasures, as well. This all made for a wonderful evening, enhanced by Yancy, our knowledgeable and attentive waiter, who added even more to a fabulous dining experience.
Mahalo for appreciating the genuine farm-driven cuisine, the Executive Chef works hard to develop relationships with local farmers and ranchers to ensure the freshest ingredients possible. We're happy you enjoyed the surrounding gardens and views from the restaurant. We will pass along your compliments to Yancy. Until next time!
Lots to see at this venue. Inventive drinks, adventurous flavors and attentive service.
Mahalo for the compliments! We are pleased you enjoyed your experience.
The food was outstanding and the service could not have been better. Great local farm to table choices. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting Maui.
Mahalo, Gerry! We're glad you enjoyed the farm-driven cuisine and attentive service. We appreciate your compliments, as we pride ourselves on sourcing ingredients from small, local farmers and ranchers.
Phenomenal place not to be missed! Amazing food with gorgeous views and awesome service! Superb selection of vegetarian items. Our kids enjoyed the place a lot! One of the best restaurants and property grounds we’ve ever been to!
Mahalo for the kind words. We're glad your 'ohana enjoyed the farm-driven cuisine, awesome service, and gorgeous plantation views. We look forward to your next visit, don't forget to pick up duck food from the host stand to feed the ducks!
Stunning views, great service, delicious food.
Mahalo for the 5-stars, Marian! We're happy you enjoyed the stunning views, great service, and farm-driven cuisine. We hope to host you again soon!
This was my first time at the Mill House, and it did not disappoint. Our service was A+ along with the food, atmosphere and location . I cant wait to go back !
Mahalo for dining with us. We're delighted you enjoyed the farm-driven cuisine, excellent service, and plantation views. We look forward to hosting you again!
The Mill house is very close to the airport so I decided to bring my wife and daughter there as the last stop before our trip is over. This is a pretty big location with many scenic spots for photography. The restaurant offers both indoor and outdoor view. I chose the indoor because I don’t want to build up a sweat before I board my flight. The sunset was beautiful as the sun goes behind the Mountain View. The food is also very satisfying considering the prices. Throughout the trip I’ve tried other fancy restaurants like Banyan Tree, and Plantation House but the Mill House has the best value for the prices if we are only considering the food. I had the prawn and fish curry and my wife had the beef pasta. Both are great choices but the Kalbi appetizer was the biggest surprise. It looks a tenderloin but it tasted like short rib.
I think this place is a must stop if your flight home is at night.
Thank you for choosing to dine at The Mill House during your visit. We are thrilled your family enjoyed the farm-driven menu, especially the tenderloin. Mahalo!
Our family enjoyed all of our selections, including the market pork (perfect for the son with food sensitivities), the oxtail soup, the pizza, and the mahi entree. And the rum experience... ahhh! Plantation punch and daquiri... yum! Mostly, we enjoyed our capable and adorable wait staff team.
We are delighted your family enjoyed The Mill House dish selection and the rum! Mahalo for the kind words about the team as providing excellent service is essential to us.
Plan on extra time as you’re going to want to take pictures and perhaps feed the ducks/fish. Great atmosphere and service and food was very good as well!
Aloha, Duane. We're glad you enjoyed the farm-driven cuisine, great atmosphere, and attentive service! We hope you found a few great photo ops while exploring the plantation and feeding the animals. Until next time!
Wine choices-excellent. We ordered a bottle of red. It was so good.
Bread with butter- couldn’t finish it; it was a little too salty for us.
Manapua-excellent...Sauce that came with it was very tasty.
Sausage pizza-I thought it was pretty good; my husband thought it was just OK
Seafood curry was also a little too salty for us. We couldn’t finish that as well.
Almond dessert-I liked it; my husband thought it was just OK.
We were visiting from Oahu and was very excited about having Happy Hour there. We like the concept of “farm to table”. We were a little disappointed when we left. The service was great, the wine was great and the food was just OK. I really would like to go back and give it another try on my next trip over...
It was an amazing dining experience. From the tropical plants lining the huge property to the decor and ambience of the restaurant. They’re menu is amazing and the food is even better! It’s a must do when in Maui!
Mahalo for appreciating the tropical plants, decor, and ambiance! We look forward to hosting you in the future.
The Mill House is outstanding overall! Slightly pricey $$$$, but the food is well worth it. Ambience is wonderful with a very scenic view of the Maui hills. Highly recommend a visit.
We are ecstatic you enjoyed the food and views! The Mill House sources fresh ingredients locally, the prices and portions reflect this standard. Mahalo for the high recommendation!
We had a 4:45 reservation for early dinner which got us there in time for the end of happy hour. Everyone in our party of four found salads/entrees/drinks on the happy hour menu that they enjoyed. We sat outside and enjoyed the views of the well maintained grounds. A very positive experience!
Mahalo for your kind words, Martha! We are glad your party enjoyed happy hour. Come again soon!
As always great food & amazing scenery! Mahalo🌺
Mahalo! We can't wait to host you again!
Love the setting. Our server was excellent. Sorry I don’t remember his name. Food came out fast. The only thing was I wish we had the option to sit completely outside. We were never offered the option. Thanks again for the dinner.
Service is lackluster at best - disinterested, unorganized, and sloppy in actuality. Such a shame as the restaurant is nestled in the charming Plantation grounds.
Considering the fact that the drink menu is 3x the dining menu, one would expect more than overly sweet and sugary concoctions that destroy any character the spirits may have once possessed.
We ordered from the Chef’s Selections portion of the menu, which is purportedly the creme de la creme of the kitchen. What a disappointment. The flavors consist primarily of raw ginger, salt, and a HEAVY hand with lemon. The ox tail soup with dumplings was inedible with dumplings (Western, not Asian) as hard as golf balls. I couldn’t even get my spoon through one to taste it. I left the full dish with overcooked greens and raw ginger untouched. When our server came to check on us, Instead of offering to replace the dish with something else, he simply left it on the table and said he’d mention it to the kitchen but that they were supposed to be “dense”.
Meanwhile, our second course arrived - agnolotti with prawns. Imagine again my disappointment when a dish of a single cut up shrimp (not a prawn in sight) with flavorless ravioli covered in melted butter and mayonnaise (ahem, an emulsion) and what literally looked like the frozen veg medley from the supermarket freezer section was placed in front of me.
Oh, and the “fire roasted vegetables” was boiled crudités with powdered Parmesan cheese, which the server practically threw on the table, causing the whole dish to resemble a pizza delivered after being dropped and jostled through a sinkhole-sized pothole.
A manager asked how we were enjoying the meal, and I asked whether our server had mentioned the “dense” dumplings (as he said he would). No mention of it - what a surprise! I have long ago accepted the fact there is no “gourmet” dining in Maui, but hospitality is essential and usually the norm on the island. Mill House fell woefully short of the mark.
We are disappointed to hear of your recent experience with the food, drinks, and service. The Mill House is a from-scratch kitchen and sources fresh ingredients locally. Servers are trained to share guest concerns with management; we are sorry this did not happen. The bartenders are required to follow recipes which include at least 1.5 ounces of spirits per drink. Mahalo for sharing your feedback as it enables the Management Team to implement changes that enhance the overall experience.
Very nice restaurant with a beautiful terrasse! The food was delicious. I highly recommend it.
Mahalo for the recommendation, Lucile! We're glad you enjoyed the farm-driven cuisine and beautiful plantation setting. We can't wait to host you again!
The Mill House is a gem nestled within the plantation.
The views are stunning ( try to go during sunlight to enjoy the full effect). The staff was great and took the time to explain to us the history of the plantation and restaurant. The food was outstanding and definitely farm fresh. I loved the ambiance and open air traditional Hawaiian feel.this place is a dining must in Maui!
Mahalo for appreciating the farm-driven cuisine, as we take pride in sourcing ingredients locally! We're delighted you enjoyed the open-air dining rooms, ambiance, and views from The Mill House.
Delicious food especially the bone marrow dish. But, the view and grounds of the plantation can't be beat. Really enjoyed our meal!
Mahalo Rebecca! We are pleased you enjoyed the bone marrow and plantation views. We would love to host you for another excellent farm-driven experience!
Awesome Hawaiian food
Loved the ambiance and setting -- beautiful grounds/garden area, with mountains in the background. All of the hostesses and waiters/waitresses were so nice. Our favorites were: bone marrow appetizer (rich and tasty), and pork belly barley porridge (flavorful comfort-type food). The two lillikoi cocktails (can't remember the names) were both delicious!
We are delighted to hear you loved the ambiance and views at The Mill House! Mahalo for sharing your favorite dishes and cocktails from the farm-driven menu.
Beautiful setting, food ok
Mahalo for your feedback. While we're glad you enjoyed the beautiful setting of The Mill House, we are disappointed to learn the food did not impress you. We want to invite you back to try a different combination of flavors that may better suit your palate.
The setting is stunning; go early to see it in the daylight. The food is good but not great; maybe my expectations were too high. Chickpea cakes were totally flavorless but mushroom croquetas were very good. The fish was fine...not fantastic though.
Aloha. While we are happy you enjoyed the ambiance and views from the restaurant; we apologize the Chickpea Cakes lacked the additional seasoning you desired. We're delighted you enjoyed the Ali'i Mushroom Croquetas made with roasted garlic aioli and pickled onion. Thank you for your feedback.
Delicious food and super fabulous customer service. Our waiter was very knowledgeable about the plantation and menu. He was able to described and recommended dishes we enjoyed very much. The coconut sorbet was so creamy and rich -- the best coconut ice cream/sorbet we ever had. The agua fresco was very good too. Food came out on time.
Aloha, Mailee! We're happy you enjoyed some of your server's recommendations on the menu! The coconut sorbet is dairy-free and made in house with locally grown coconuts. We would love to host you again!
Excellent food and staff was awesome. Beware that there are a lot of children, especially earlier
Aloha, Mark! We're delighted you enjoyed the excellent farm-driven cuisine and service while dining at The Mill House. Mahalo for your feedback.
Newlyweds dinner night out. First time we visit The Mill House, we were excited to have a great time. But we had a bad server :( we did address to the manager, hopefully they will fix their problem and retrain the staffs. But we sure will give it another chance.
Aloha, Marie. We're delighted you chose to celebrate with us! Thank you for sharing your experience with the manager as it allows us to correct the wrongdoings. We look forward to hosting you again to serve you the true Mill House spirit.
The food was awesome! The bone marrow on pita bread was amazing. Great service and atmosphere, as well.
We're delighted you enjoyed the bone marrow on pita, service, and atmosphere. Mahalo for dining with us.
