We had a great Sunday Brunch buffet. Unfortunately, it was their last and the restaurant is now closed.
Nice entrance & bar area
I have been to the Mill many times over the past decades. The decor and food are consistently good. We were there when they were transitioning from brunch to dinner on a Sunday so the service was a little disinterested.
My sister and I brought our Mom to The Mill for her Birthday Brunch. We thoroughly enjoyed it and left in a food coma. The food was great, as were the cocktails. I would like to come back for dinner!
We were celebrating the purchase of a home about 3 blocks from the restaurant. Unfortunately, it was dark and January, so we did not get the full beauty of the lake and mill through large picture windows, but what we could see was pretty. Food was excellent, service excellent as well.
Sunday brunch at the Mill for New years day was overall Excellent! Great food selection in the buffet from the On the spot custom made omelet to the prime roast to the chocolate Mousse was all so delicious. Our waiter was attentive and friendly. The water fountain in the middle of the lake surranded by trees can been seen throughout the many windows in the restaurant. Was very satisfied and made for a great beginning to the new year.
Spent the end of 2016 with my wife and parents. Although we are frequent customers, New Years Eve exceeded our expectations! Food was outstanding! Service was on point for as busy as it was. Don Rogers, owner, and his staff are the best we have ever been around. They deserve the credit for making our "date nights" awesome. We can not say enough about The Mill. See you Saturday night!
We were there for New Year's Eve. My dinner was very good, but unfortunately they had a special menu and there was nothing on the menu my husband would eat. He ended up just getting a salad. I wish they had a little more variety on the menu. He was very disappointed but said he would go back again just not for a holiday dinner.
GRANTED IT WAS A MID WEEK EVENING, IT WAS NOT BUSY AT ALL. TOOK THE FAMILY OUT BECAUSE EVERYONE WAS HOME FOR THE HOLIDAYS AND WANTED A SPECIAL MEAL. FOOD WAS EXCELLENT THE SERVICE WAS SUB pAR.
The Mill at Spring Lake is lovely and I can see why so many people have their special occasions there. The dining room is so pretty and the ambience was very calm and relaxing and perfect for allowing conversations. The service was the best, the pacing of everything from the drinks to appetizers to dinner was not rushed and we felt like our server was paying attention to us, but not hovering.
The food was good, but not amazing. All of our dishes were of the quality that I would expect at perhaps a nice wedding. The selection was good and even the pickiest of the people in our party were able to find a meal they would like. The fixed price menu was decided on by some of our party and they all raved about the selection within that menu. If I have any complaints at all (and this is very minor, everyone with us loved the place and the food) is that the food choices were a bit bland.
We have been to the Mill multiple times. Never disappointed. Happy to have them in the neighborhood.
Dinner for four on a Saturday night was OK at best. Guys ordered strip steak medium rare, came out medium. Streak was flavorful, but not cooked to order. Ladies ordered scallops - undercooked. Room was very nice, service was excellent, but not worth the expense. There are much better values in the area.
Food was excellent. Presentation of entrees was excellent as well as overall preparation. Had sea bass, seafood risotto and filet-everyone commented on excellent selections.
Service was excellent, waitress very attentive. The food was very tough; We ordered the lamb & chicken.
Haven't been to The Mill (then The Old Mill, I think) since going there back in the 60s with my grandparents, so was very happy when my friend suggested that we make the drive down to Spring Lake Heights for lunch. Went on a weekday. Made a reservation, but really didn't need to. Got a nice table by the window looking out over the lake. Started off with a glass of wine and the lobster bisque, made from their 1938 (?) recipe. The soup alone was worth the trip there. It was rich & so delicious... Followed the soup with a fried black cod sandwich, minus the bread to make it a gluten free choice, and a rare hamburger sandwich with loads of bacon & cheese on it. Both were very tasty, but after the generous bowls of soup that we had eaten, we were too full to eat our sandwiches. Packed them up and took them home. Next time I think that I would choose to have the soup and maybe a salad instead.
The restaurant was nicely decorated for the holidays and the service was attentive. Would definitely go back again, even, as I said, if just to sit at or in the bar and have a bowl of that soup and a glass of wine... Sounds like a perfect meal to me!
P.S. There are several dishes to choose from that are specifically designated as 'gluten free'. It is always nice to have that option available if needed.
We had been to the Old Mill many years ago and had read that it changed hands 13 years ago going by The Mill ! We figured we would give it a try since the last time it was so run down and not good food ! We were so wonderfully surprised at the outside of the building to start! the inside was just beautiful ! The bar was incredible ! The room we ate dinner in was so cozy and romantically lit ! My sister and I had the delicious wedge salad ! and for entree I had the delicious seafood crepes ! My sister had the Club Steak and could swear she was eating filter mignon ! Her favorite served with it was Potatoe Au Gratin ! Everyone else at the table was so delighted and thrilled with their dinners ! A lot of us had the Prixe Fix-and for $28 it was well worth it ! 3 BIG Courses ! My advice? Anyone who hasn't been to the (Old) Mill in years , go now ! you will LOVE IT!
Always a great brunch spread. Love the lobster crepes.
Delicious meals. Wonderful presentation. Superb service.
Excellent food, service, and atmosphere. We hadn't been to this restaurant for many years, but we decided to try it for Restaurant Week. We had such a successful visit, that it has been moved to our list of favorites and we can't wait to go again.
We were at The Mill for the Brunch before going to the theater. Food, service was excellant. I have, in the past, enjoyed their early bird menu. Again wonderful. Would refer any person that needs a special place or even if not.
The ambiance is very nice overlooking the lake. The brie/pastry appetizer was awesome, along with the calamari appetizer. We had the pork chop and salmon, which was delicious.
Great value, excellent service, and good atmosphere
I went there with my fiance on a date and the service was great, the resturaunt was very clean and well decorated. The drinks and food were excellent and the portions were very reasonable. I would definitely recommend friends and family to The Mill as well as anyone inquiring.
Excellent food and service. Went for my birthday with family
The brunch is outstanding! Selection of food & quality of food is worth the price & includes one drink! Service is excellent & your plates are cleared promptly.
Very nice. Well trained friendly staff, clean, nicely decorated facility. Excellent food quality, well prepared. Very pleased.
Always a phenomenal brunch! A plethora of choices and always a few fun seasonal selections
This was our second time at The Mill for Sunday brunch and we will definitely be back again!
As always the Mill never disappoints. The chef is super creative and seems to be improving each visit. The wine list is extensive and has a great variety across all price levels. We are looking to spending our fifth Thanksgiving there.
The Mill is outstanding. Whether you are going out for date night or a special occasion with family and friends, The Mill is consistently good. Atmosphere is comfortable, warm and inviting with lovely views of the pond. The wait staff is always pleasant and attentive. The food, from appetizers to desserts are well portioned and delicious.
wonderful meal - beautiful sunset - fantastic service.. and the cappuccino at the end was prepared perfectly and really was a nice finish to the meal. thanks!
The Mill Inn sits across a lovely pond which provides a pretty view from most tables in the main dining room. We went for a family birthday and for the Sunday brunch. It was very crowded. We had made reservations which were honored on time. The brunch offerings were varied and plentiful -- carved prime rib and roasted pork, omelet station, pasta, filet tenderloins, eggs benedict, etc. A mimosa or a bloody mary came with the brunch. Overall, the food was fine but not above average. Despite a pretty setting and attractive surroundings, the clientele was dressed very casually. Overall, a bit disappointing to someone who remembers the restaurant as a special place with very good food.
Brought a group of family members who had never been to The Mill. They all thanked me for choosing such a beautiful restaurant with great food and good value. There was something for everyone on the extensive brunch buffet and everyone left full, happy and anxious to repeat the experience. Thank you. Keep up the good work.
I've been to the Mill a number of times. Most times the meals are excellent. This time, not so much. The special (swordfish stuffed with crab meat) was dry. Not worth giving up my usual Rib Eye for. They seemed to not have their incredible bread either. Now that was a disappointment! It seemed like your run of the 'mill' (no pun intended) rye bread. My waitress was not as attentive. Most visits our waiters are extremely attentive/accommodating. We couldn't blame it on it being busy since 60% of the tables were empty. The one thing that always remains constant is the desert menu. My wife loves having her desert after a meal and the Mill lacks any real 'to die for' deserts. The cheesecake is OK. The brownie special was just awful. I think there should be some more thought given to the desert options. For some tips on some great desert options have a look at MCloones in Long Branch, or La Cipollina's (Freehold) Banana Foster!
Steaks at the Mill are always spot on. Next time I'll pass on the 'specials' and go right for the steak. Afterwards I suppose my wife and I will look for a place to get some desert.
Our meal was awesome! My husband had the lobster shrimp scallop risotto and I had the rack of lamb. It was delicious! The rack of lamb was cook to perfection! This is our second time here and I have not yet been disappointed. Our server was awesome. The drinks were spot on as well. Thank you again for a wonderful dining experience. See you soon!
This is the place to go if your looking for good food. Was here on 9/21/2016 celebrating a birthday. My husband had the filet mignon and I had the seafood crepe, no complaints whatsoever on the food. The service was so so, asked us if we wanted bread, that should have been automatically provided without asking. We were there in August 2016 the waitress then didn't ask us if we wanted bread, it was served without asking, that is the way it should be served. I would strongly recommend that your waitresses not ask customers if they want bread, just serve it. We ordered dessert and she did not bring the correct dessert that we requested.
We do like the place so we definitely will be back, oh, love the atmosphere.
I would highly recommend this establishment to friends.
There was 5 of us for dinner. Our waiter John was on point from the start. We each had an appetizer oysters, (Atlantic and Blue Point) delicious and shrimp cocktail. We followed up with lamp chops, shrimp with risotto, crab cakes. 4 of us had soup New England special and lobster bisque. Caesar salad for two of us. The main course was 3 filets, a veal dish and a tuna dish. Know room for dessert everything was fabulous.
Nice up scale restaurant. Good food Great service
The service and the food were both great.
One of the BEST meals I have had in quite awhile! Looking forward to returning soon.
