About The Metropolitan Grill
The Metropolitan Grill. The moment you step into the Metropolitan Grill, you know you have entered a classic steakhouse. Guests enter through tall mahogany doors to be greeted by tuxedo clad Maitre D’s. Cuts of beef are showcased in a glass display in the front entryway. Framed photographs of celebrities, sports heroes and local politicians, all frequent visitors to The Met, line the walls.
At the Metropolitan Grill, the focus is on the Prime beef, American and Japanese Wagyu. Steaks are seared over the high heat of the “Iron Wood of the World,” imported mesquite charcoal, ensuring the most tender, juicy steaks available. Metropolitan Grill Chefs personally select each cut that is served to guests.
The Metropolitan Grill’s award-winning wine list showcases the definitive steakhouse selection of premium West Coast red wines, with special emphasis on Cabernets, Merlots and Meritage.

The Metropolitan Grill Ratings and Reviews
"I love the relaxed feel of this place – like a comfortable dining room in a friends home. I definitely would return to try more dishes. The filet mignon - prepares to perfection. Service was well-timed and friendly, all the staff - even the valet service was courteous and prompt.
So me and my gf have been here twice and had completely different experiences. The first time we ordered the filet platter with ohmi, American wagyu, and prime. We also got scallops, and lobster Mac and cheese. It was perfection all the way around from service to food to ambiance.
Second time around completely the opposite. The service was slow and the food was meh. We ordered the snow beef which was way below the quality of the ohmi. I’d compare it more to prime. It was also severely under cooked, purplish in the middle. Also ordered the 35 year aged top cap, which was very good (better than the $120 snow beef). It was an unfortunate experience for us because we held met grill in such high regard and recommended it to all our friends. Also it’s pricey for 2 people a couple drinks and food was $400. Honestly the snow beef filet was equal to $60 filets we’ve had at multiple restaurants and the marbeling left a lot to be desired when compared to ohmi or even American wagyu. We both tend to think we got a prime cut on accident. We’ll chalk this up to a bad day and we’ll give them another chance one day.
I want to bathe in the Lobster Bisque. It's so rich and golden it puts The Donald to shame.
Three of us ordered the chophouse burger and none of us could eat more than half. Really delicious beef smothered in my personal fave, onion-bacon jam. The Met should bottle that stuff and make a fortune. I'd eat it all by itself, with a spoon, in a dark room.
The Metropolitan is consistently excellent in their enjoyable ambiance, quality service and top-notch food. Our dinner this week was no exception. Nick, our waiter, did a great job in guiding us through the menu and voluminous wine list and ensured we enjoyed our dinner!
The worst experience I have had at the met grill ever. Took 10 minutes to get our menus. Then 10 minors to take our orders and 15 minutes to get our food. My salmon was over cooked. It then took 15 minors to get the check only after I asked another waiter to find our server. I used to hold the Met kit as my favorite place for a high class business lunch but after today I’m done!

TL;DR? Read the last paragraph.
My family and I came to the Met for a Christmas feast. The Met has a reputation of being a fine dining restaurant and my husband and I were ready to pay the price to treat the family to a very nice, classy meal. Everything was going peachy keen until the first course came. I ordered a spinach salad and as I was picking at my salad for a choice bite, I found a hair. Of course the waiter, Juergen, was extremely apologetic and offered to send a new salad; I just couldn’t eat another morsel. It completely ruined my appetite. The GM (well, who I thought was the GM because he was dressed in a tuxedo) came to the table and apologized profusely—probably because I was morose and the errant hair killed my vibe. You think I’m moody? Well, who wouldn’t get grossed out by something like that? (Questions racing in my head during dinner: What part of the body did this hair come from? Why is it at the bottom of my plate?) I’m just glad our other family members didn’t have an issue—I would have been completely mortified.
In order to remedy the situation, the Met comped my salad, comped the dessert course which consisted of tableside bananas foster, the nine-layer chocolate cake, the white chocolate coconut cake, and a big scoop of the a la carte ice cream. They also comped my mother-in-law’s and my valet tickets. They probably did the absolute best they could in order to fix the first course mishap, which I do appreciate.
Do I think the Met is a fine dining restaurant? No. The website says the dress code is business casual and people are walking in with jeans and hooded sweatshirts (also, the hair issue).
Does the staff care about their customers? Yes. However, you can’t expect to lift the mood of a customer after you start your meal with a hair.
Is the food good? Yes, but be wary. Quality Control in the kitchen isn’t up to snuff, especially at the prices the customer pays to dine there.
I have been to the Met probably 13 times over the years. Until the last visit, the food and service for myself and the others I was with has been great. This last visit I reluctantly sent my steak back as it was way over-cooked. They cooked another one and gladly comp'd the steak. The wait time for all meals was quite long compared to usual and could be because it was Dec. 9th & I've not been there in December before. It was very busy. That being said. I will absolutely return. The 2nd steak was perfect and their crab cocktails are the best and I would highly recommend this restaurant.
My wife and I dine here frequently. It is our favorite restaurant. The food was exceptional, as always. Our table was near the door on a cold night. We kept getting cold air, cigarette smoke and automobile exhaust in from the door, which, understandably, opened and closed incessantly. Usually our servers are charismatic and friendly. Our server this time was neither, and seemed rushed and annoyed the entire evening, and wasn't inclined to discuss menu items very much.
Nevertheless, a fine meal was had. Hopefully next time we'll get a better table and a friendly server!
I splurged for a fine dining experience for my wonderful boyfriends birthday who loves steak 🥩. We had a lovely staff help us order an amazing steak for two and we had a very cozy, relaxing and fine dining experience being catered to. I had the best steak I have ever had. It was delicious. If you ever want to splurge on a good steak come to the Met! Loved it and worth the money 💰
We've been to the Metropolitan Grill on five different occasions and every meal was absolutely outstanding. The wait staff is so professional, courteous and knowledgeable. They've taken good care of us every time. We live 90 minutes away and it's absolutely worth the drive... It's a special restaurant.
I ordered ribeye and scampi prawns. My wife had prime rib and prawns. Waiter forgot to bring the prawns and missed my order of prawns completely. I believe he brought the prawns that had been sitting on the warmer for sometime as they were dry and without the butter. My steak was cooked to order however both meats must have sat a bit as they came to the table cold. The table next to us was a party of 6 or 7 and was very loud and used very profane language for our entire meal. You could tell the staff recognized the situation however chose not to address any of it. Very disappointing night for a well respected restaurant. Probably will not return. To many other options.
The food, as usual, was fabulous! We must have had a new waiter (I didn't recognize him from previous meals); he made several mistakes - but DID try his best to rectify the long waits and mis-orders by comping us. I highly recommend the Pear Bread Pudding if you want dessert - more than enough to share!
Great food, excellent service. Valet parking out front makes it so easy. Not a place to go for a quick bite. The portions are huge, the salad is too big to have with the meal so share one, and you can probably plan for a great meal with leftovers. Entree prices are outside my comfort level for anything but a special occasion, but fair enough for the quality and quantity. My friends and I totally enjoyed the experience.
The best steakhouse in Seattle. Period. Everything about The Met is first-class, from the food to the service. And if you haven't had the Bananas Foster for dessert, you need to treat yourself the next time you're here for dinner. It will change your world. 10/10.
Glad to have the Met back as a classic Seattle business restaurant. Even lunch or dinner in the bar is amazing, which I prefer actually. The bar servers are excellent, have been there for many years and are very welcoming to guests - including returning and new guests. Favorite lunch business place for me.
