Excellent food served by polite and attentive professionals.
My initial exposure to The Metropolitan began in the 1980's upon our business transfer to the PNW, which necessitated incorporating the standard "business lunch", into our regimen. In all cases, the experience never failed to impress.
Even during afternoon lunch, the setting, ambiance, ..(and food), was spot on.
For this current occasion, we brought some European friends, who are investigating a potential move to the U.S, for their introductory experience. Simply put, ...they were openly (almost) overwhelmed.
The food was, as usual, superior.
Our waiter, (Todd), was, as usual, the perfect spokesperson for the restaurant....Friendly, knowledgeable & informed on nuances that might have slipped past others (our female guest LOVED the blue cheese suggestion !)
Overall, in my personal opinion, this place continues, to set the bar others HOPE to achieve.
It simply cannot & will not, fail to impress.
Even with the recent remodel, the "feel" remains the same,..(for me).
Needless to say, we'll keep going back...ESPECIALLY if /when we are inclined to treat ourselves to any of the(ir) outstanding beef offerings.
Service was premimum very attentive without being abtrusive and food is great!
We had an amazing experience. They were very accommodating to my son who is Vegan. They made him a special dish, which he loved. Thank you...
Lady at front desk was extremely rude. She was busy on the phone for a long time so I asked someone in the bar if they would seat us; she came up to me after she got off the phone 10 mins later and was argumentative. However, the waiter was attentive, professional and the food was most excellent.
We hadn't been there in a couple years and it was just as good as I remembered. Literally everything we ordered was delicious. The wait staff was really good and had a wonderful sense of humor. Everyone should try the Met at least once!
Excellent quality of beef! Very pricey! Celebrating Birthday!
We have posted on Facebook, told our friends, written thank-you notes to our children -- all for the very best dining experience we have ever had in Seattle. Every bite was better than the last! Our waiter was beyond comparison. We couldn't order enough food (including the to-go items we ordered when we sat down) to use up the $250 gift certificate our kids had bought us for Christmas. The leftovers are to die for!
Drinks and food were great and the service was outstanding. Thanks to our waitress Marla.
This was my first trip to Seattle and MG was recommended by several Uber drivers. The service was OUTSTANDING!! Bruno was polite, knowledgeable and accommodated all of our requests. There were four of us and we all thoroughly enjoyed our meals: steak, salmon, lobster tail, vegan entree. And let's not talk about the dessert. Bananas Foster, artfully crafted table-side. The restaurant is very elegant, high end but not stuffy. I'm definitely glad I dined there and look forward to returning.
Roger and the rest of the service staff were fantastic! The food was delicious and the old fashions were perfect. We enjoyed our experience and we will be back. Thank you!
What a disappointment! We were in town and wanted a steak dinner. We heard all the hype about this place ( which was generated by the restaurant's own advertising itself)
The menu suggests your food will be of extraordinary quality ( I supposed to match the price point)
Having eaten at multiple other restaurant chains such as Ruth Chris and local non franchise steak joints I can say this place isn't worth it!
Unless you want the illusion of going to a great restaurant with food that is just ok save some money and go somewhere else. No kidding!
We're a family of foodies, and this all-family dinner was for a special occasion (the patriarch retired). It was one of the best meals any of us could recall. The menu was extensive, the bar/wine list complete. the service perfect. This dinner will be the bar to which our future family celebrations aspire.
Excellent service - Very pleasant staff. Amazing dinner!
I dined with the Met on multiple occasions but this time was the worst. My business partner and I had to wait for half an hour with no attendant coming by to ask if we need some water. I tried to make some eye contact but no one really paid attention to us. The food came out pretty quickly though and we finished the meal pretty fast since we needed to hurry back to catch another meeting. We asked for the check but we had to wait for another half hour to get the check only after we reminded the attendant three times. I understood the business of the the restaurant but my business partner did not for her first time dining experience with the Met. So disappointed with the service on that day.
Took the family out to The Metropolitan Grille for a special dinner. The refrigerated display curio in the lobby showed some of there cuts of aged beef and was only the beginning of a wonderful experience. Waitstaff are very professional but also take the time to be conversational and friendly. The 4 different entrees were which we had Rib Eye one the bone, Salmon, Crab and Prawn Mac and Cheese and Bacon wrapped Pork Chops were all delicious and very high quality. The coconut cake with white chocolate frosting was just right with the dense cake having the perfect texture and taste.
Excellent meal and service. Bruno and Scott were fabulous. Impeccable service and attention to detail. From the blue cheese wedge to the bone in ribeye with a baker the size of a small football and topped off with a seven layer carrot cake served with Madagascar vanilla bean ice cream.....it was all delicious!
Lunch at the Metropolitan Grill is an outstanding experience. The French onion soup is perhaps the best in Seattle, and the lunch combinations include the ability to get the onion soup with neither the roast beef or turkey sandwiches, both of which are outstanding. The Metropolitan Grill State Salad and the Classic Cobb are terrific lunch choices. They also have an excellent smoked vegetable sandwich. Because of the layout of the restaurant which includes many booths, it is easy to find a quiet place to talk business.
The Met was amazing as always. The wait staff are very knowledgeable and will help you put together as memorable meal as your budget allows. Our Waiter had been there 19 years and it showed. The food is amazing, service level is great without interrupting every two bites to see how your doing. The French Onion soup on a cold, wet Seattle evening can brighten the dampest of spirits. Can't say enough good things about "The Met."
Good and service were good. Seating in a banquet for 4 was very cramped
Absolutely amazing dinner....and dining experience. One of my all time favorite restaurants in the world
Food was phenomenal, especially ordering one of the big sharing desserts where they flambe it tableside. It was such a big portion of dessert, I think a family of 4-6 could've shared it. Every dish we had was phenomenal. I loved that the entrees still came with sides, unlike some other fine dining steakhouses. So I didn't have to spend extra to get my asparagus with hollandaise sauce on the side of my steak. We got to dinner a little early (5:45) so we got a wonderful quiet booth and dinner remained rather intimate. As we were leaving (after 7), it did seem like the restaurant was bustling more. Service was great; the wait staff was friendly, but not too obtrusive. They let us enjoy our meal without constantly coming over, or rushing us near the end of our meal. We got to take our time savoring the experience.
Great service - the best. Matched by great food. This is a Seattle Original and they kept it in the old style following a 2 month renovation of sorts. Glad to see the food and service were kept up to par and did not falter.
Best steak house in Seattle, bar none.
I rated our service low, not do to our waiter but it took over an hour to get our main course. Our waiter offered free dessert. Food was superior, best Lobster Bisque in the world...
My husband and I have enjoyed your restaurant for many years. He asked me to marry him 11 years ago in your restaurant. Saturday night we brought friends from out of state. We couldn't have had a nicer evening. We started with drinks in the bar and finished with a beautiful steak and seafood dinner. All of us were impressed with the food and wonderful service. We live in Silverdale so it's a quick walk to the ferry and home. Thank you for the great evening.
It was okay. I don’t believe it is worth the price. The French onion soup is amazing though!
The best steak in Seattle and humanely raised and slaughtered according to the recommendations of Dr. Temple Grandin.
Another amazing experience at The Met...when I made the reservation, I asked for a booth but never expected such a great location for a special evening...away from the bar and perfect. ALL of the staff was outstanding. We dropped off our special wine early so they could decant it for us; a service never before offered anywhere. Even the coat check lady was kind and helpful. All in all, a beautiful evening...did I mention the onion rings? Over the top delicious....we will be going back soon.
We have been to the MG several times in the past few years. It has always been a top rated dining experience, except this time. The drinks, mine was a Manhattan Met, was short on depth, just bourbon, your completion, some 60 miles north, "The Bistro at San Martin", that is a Manhattan of depth and substance. You guys need to rise to the occasion. My other nit is the failed crab cakes. I don't remember there being noticeable carrot pieces in the cake, like this time. Also, who ever was cooking them became distracted as the bottom of the cakes were dark and hard, requiring a knife to cut them. There was minimal breading on two of the cakes, as expected from past experience, but the third, it was doughy, about half of it was that way. The Met and the Bistro had been neck and neck on the carb cakes, this time, your cakes were very disappointing. I left a review on the Met's web site as well. I live in Arlington, so coming to Seattle to the Met is a serious effort to be pleased. Not this time. The wedge salads were excellent as was our steaks, but they could not make up for the poor performance on the drinks and crab cakes. The staff was excellent as always, I should have brought up my concerns at the time but I didn't want any bad reflection of the wait staff.
I can now see why the Metropolitan Grill was voted one of the best steakhouses in the United States. Everything we ordered (there were five of us) was prepared perfectly, and our waiter was delightful. The drinks and cocktails he recommended were also spot on, and very delicious. I would definitely come back again the next time I'm in Seattle. A totally wonderful dining experience!
You can just never go wrong with the Met. Pricey, but absolutely worth every penny. Great for a special occasion.
Excellent evening at the Metropolitan Grill. This place never disappoints. Steaks are cooked to perfection. The side choice of root vegetables was a welcome surprise. I wanted the pea salad from the lunch menu and, although it was touch and go for a minute, the waitress found a way to make it happen. The wine list is huge. Perhaps overwhelming but lots of great wines. Highly recommend this place. 😄
Our waiter Victor is amazing! He is friendly, efficient, and knowledgeable about the menu. Go back just for him! He remembers people.
The Met never disappoints. The food is incredible!
Had a great business meal at the Met. The food was fantastic. I had the blackened Prime Rib and it was cooked to perfection and the taste was outstanding. I will go back again when in Seattle.
The steak was over cooked. The food wasn’t delivered all together. The cream brûlée was runny. This is the second bad meal in two years. At $270.00 for two this restaurant needs to get its act together. The only positive experience was the service was impeccable.
