About The Metropolitan Grill

The Metropolitan Grill. The moment you step into the Metropolitan Grill, you know you have entered a classic steakhouse. Guests enter through tall mahogany doors to be greeted by tuxedo clad Maitre D’s. Cuts of beef are showcased in a glass display in the front entryway. Framed photographs of celebrities, sports heroes and local politicians, all frequent visitors to The Met, line the walls.

At the Metropolitan Grill, the focus is on the Prime beef, American and Japanese Wagyu. Steaks are seared over the high heat of the “Iron Wood of the World,” imported mesquite charcoal, ensuring the most tender, juicy steaks available. Metropolitan Grill Chefs personally select each cut that is served to guests.

The Metropolitan Grill’s award-winning wine list showcases the definitive steakhouse selection of premium West Coast red wines, with special emphasis on Cabernets, Merlots and Meritage.

The worst experience I have had at the met grill ever. Took 10 minutes to get our menus. Then 10 minors to take our orders and 15 minutes to get our food. My salmon was over cooked. It then took 15 minors to get the check only after I asked another waiter to find our server. I used to hold the Met kit as my favorite place for a high class business lunch but after today I’m done!

After many visits over the last decade, i say with confidence that this place knows their beef. From drinks to dessert, I have never had a bad sip or bite. Break out the wallet once and while and treat yourself, you will not be disappointed with the met.

Absolutely phenomenal restaurant with a history to match. Food has always been outstanding and worth every penny. Also, if you're a cherries lover, ask for the Cherries Jubilee for dessert (it's a secret option) it's to die for.

Details: Party of 6 at 4:45pm on Sunday, December 10, 2017.
TL;DR? Read the last paragraph.

My family and I came to the Met for a Christmas feast. The Met has a reputation of being a fine dining restaurant and my husband and I were ready to pay the price to treat the family to a very nice, classy meal. Everything was going peachy keen until the first course came. I ordered a spinach salad and as I was picking at my salad for a choice bite, I found a hair. Of course the waiter, Juergen, was extremely apologetic and offered to send a new salad; I just couldn’t eat another morsel. It completely ruined my appetite. The GM (well, who I thought was the GM because he was dressed in a tuxedo) came to the table and apologized profusely—probably because I was morose and the errant hair killed my vibe. You think I’m moody? Well, who wouldn’t get grossed out by something like that? (Questions racing in my head during dinner: What part of the body did this hair come from? Why is it at the bottom of my plate?) I’m just glad our other family members didn’t have an issue—I would have been completely mortified.

In order to remedy the situation, the Met comped my salad, comped the dessert course which consisted of tableside bananas foster, the nine-layer chocolate cake, the white chocolate coconut cake, and a big scoop of the a la carte ice cream. They also comped my mother-in-law’s and my valet tickets. They probably did the absolute best they could in order to fix the first course mishap, which I do appreciate.

Do I think the Met is a fine dining restaurant? No. The website says the dress code is business casual and people are walking in with jeans and hooded sweatshirts (also, the hair issue).
Does the staff care about their customers? Yes. However, you can’t expect to lift the mood of a customer after you start your meal with a hair.
Is the food good? Yes, but be wary. Quality Control in the kitchen isn’t up to snuff, especially at the prices the customer pays to dine there.

I have been to the Met probably 13 times over the years. Until the last visit, the food and service for myself and the others I was with has been great. This last visit I reluctantly sent my steak back as it was way over-cooked. They cooked another one and gladly comp'd the steak. The wait time for all meals was quite long compared to usual and could be because it was Dec. 9th & I've not been there in December before. It was very busy. That being said. I will absolutely return. The 2nd steak was perfect and their crab cocktails are the best and I would highly recommend this restaurant.

I splurged for a fine dining experience for my wonderful boyfriends birthday who loves steak 🥩. We had a lovely staff help us order an amazing steak for two and we had a very cozy, relaxing and fine dining experience being catered to. I had the best steak I have ever had. It was delicious. If you ever want to splurge on a good steak come to the Met! Loved it and worth the money 💰

I ordered ribeye and scampi prawns. My wife had prime rib and prawns. Waiter forgot to bring the prawns and missed my order of prawns completely. I believe he brought the prawns that had been sitting on the warmer for sometime as they were dry and without the butter. My steak was cooked to order however both meats must have sat a bit as they came to the table cold. The table next to us was a party of 6 or 7 and was very loud and used very profane language for our entire meal. You could tell the staff recognized the situation however chose not to address any of it. Very disappointing night for a well respected restaurant. Probably will not return. To many other options.

The food, as usual, was fabulous! We must have had a new waiter (I didn't recognize him from previous meals); he made several mistakes - but DID try his best to rectify the long waits and mis-orders by comping us. I highly recommend the Pear Bread Pudding if you want dessert - more than enough to share!

Great food, excellent service. Valet parking out front makes it so easy. Not a place to go for a quick bite. The portions are huge, the salad is too big to have with the meal so share one, and you can probably plan for a great meal with leftovers. Entree prices are outside my comfort level for anything but a special occasion, but fair enough for the quality and quantity. My friends and I totally enjoyed the experience.

The best steakhouse in Seattle. Period. Everything about The Met is first-class, from the food to the service. And if you haven't had the Bananas Foster for dessert, you need to treat yourself the next time you're here for dinner. It will change your world. 10/10.

Glad to have the Met back as a classic Seattle business restaurant. Even lunch or dinner in the bar is amazing, which I prefer actually. The bar servers are excellent, have been there for many years and are very welcoming to guests - including returning and new guests. Favorite lunch business place for me.

I have to say I was very underwhelmed by our dining experience. The servers were outstanding, prompt and friendly. The drinks were spot on. The calamari appetizer we had was clumpy and doughy. I had the rib cap steak with root vegetables. The steak was cooked nicely but the root vegetables varied from borderline raw to mush. My wife had the bacon wrapped filet and mashed potatoes. I was surprised to see the fillet was cut into 2 very thin portions. I would think that a steak house of this level would understand it is hard to get a perfect medium rare on such thin pieces of meat. Her fillet was medium to medium well. My daughter had the fettuccine with prawns and crab. The prawns were nicely cooked. The amount of crab and prawns was acceptable. The fresh noodles needed another minute or two in the water as they were way too firm. The sauce was greasy and seemed to have broken.
Our sides were lobster mac and cheese and Brussels sprouts. The top of the mac and cheese had been left under the broiler so long that the noodles had the texture of raw packaged noodles. The Brussels sprouts were nicely caramelized on the outside but raw crunchy in the middle.
The desert cakes were the best part of the meal and delicious.
After reading all the reviews and deciding on eating at the Metropolitan Grill, for the money we spent I would expect that they could figure out how to properly prepare the sides of the meal. Serving what they call world class steaks with haphazardly thrown together sides is just not acceptable. Very disappointed that our first visit will be our last. We have eaten far superior meals for much less.

We were celebrating our anniversary and asked to be seated in a quieter area. There was a big group across from us and they were being quite loud. The service was really good. The food was pretty good. I was looking forward to the creme brûlée but I regretted it when I got it. My husband had a chocolate lava cake and that was much better. The creme brûlée came warm and running. Not my cup of tea, and I love creme brulee.
