About The Metropolitan Grill
The Metropolitan Grill. The moment you step into the Metropolitan Grill, you know you have entered a classic steakhouse. Guests enter through tall mahogany doors to be greeted by tuxedo clad Maitre D’s. Cuts of beef are showcased in a glass display in the front entryway. Framed photographs of celebrities, sports heroes and local politicians, all frequent visitors to The Met, line the walls.
At the Metropolitan Grill, the focus is on the Prime beef, American and Japanese Wagyu. Steaks are seared over the high heat of the “Iron Wood of the World,” imported mesquite charcoal, ensuring the most tender, juicy steaks available. Metropolitan Grill Chefs personally select each cut that is served to guests.
The Metropolitan Grill’s award-winning wine list showcases the definitive steakhouse selection of premium West Coast red wines, with special emphasis on Cabernets, Merlots and Meritage.

The Metropolitan Grill Ratings and Reviews
Juergen and Kevin provided excellent service and allowed us to make a serious 3-hour experience out of a birthday dinner. The tri-tip was some of the best southwestern steak I’ve had since growing up in Nevada and not something I expected to have at the Met. My husband went more traditional with their Ohmi Strip. We were at a loss for words. Buttery? Succulent? Amazing. Will be back.
This restaurant means a $300 dinner for two. That's my estimate for the works--salad, entrée, some wine, dessert, coffee and tip. Everything about the menu and the service are outstanding--for a price. You come here for the steaks, with a huge selection. Arguably, the best red meat in Seattle. Other entrees are available, but who cares? I had the "Delmonico Prime," bone in for $74, and my wife had the 8-oz. fillet for $62.
As always the metropolitan grill delivered on its promise of great steaks. One of seattle’s Best steakhouses. The appetizers, sides, and desserts were also good with some seasonal additions to their standard favorites. The wine selection was sooooo good. The selections the wine steward made for our group made everyone happy. Wish we could've enjoyed another bottle of the bottle from Seven Hills but our waitress, Marla, kept us on schedule to get to the musical on time. Marla was the best. She’s been working there for 38 years and knows everything, plus she is thoughtful, and keeps you on schedule making it all seem effortless. Our family has gone to Metro Grill over the years and we will absolutely keep going there.
I do feel that the restaurant is overrated. It has been an iconic place in Seattle but it has lost its charm. Service has definitely dropped in years. We were greeted warmly at the door by the door man. There was coat service but none provided. There was confusion whether tables were ready when there was a reservation made and only a half an hour into opening. The server tried to make small talk and name drop of all the people who has dined there to accentuate the place. It took over an hour for the main course to arrive. No explanation whatsoever. We mentioned that we had another event to catch and offered our card. The server took the card and of course forgot about bringing back the tab. Overall it was a disappointment. Price is hefty but the food didnt match it. It wasnt worth to mention to others back home. It was overrated and recommend other places to dine for special occasion or when visiting Seattle.
We make a point of reserving a table at the Metropolitan Grill annually on our Anniversary. We save all year long to take part in this wonderful treat. We were exceptionally happy with this year’s venture. We both ordered medium rare Filet Mignon and New York steaks from Double R Ranch. The steaks were superb! ...as were our Manhattan cocktails. Equally wonderful we’re the lauded baked potato and the creamer spinach. The highlight of our meal was a made-at-the-table cherries jubilee for dessert. Our server made a special trip into the kitchen to see if they had ingredients to make cherries jubilee, since only bananas foster and apple jubilee have been on the menu the last two years. We were really happy to hear they would make Cherries Jubilee for our anniversary celebration. Metropolitan Grill is NOT cheap, but we think it is well worth saving all year to visit!
We made reservations following a Seahawks game on NYE. There was no dress code listed, so I figured business casual might be okay. When we came to check in, I thought we might be a tad under-dressed in nice jeans and sweaters (there were several patrons wearing much finer clothing, it was NYE afterall), but then I saw numerous other football fans still wearing their Seahawks game attire and beanie hats. I didn't feel quite so out of place after that. lol
The ambiance is a tad fancier than we're used to, but not snobbishly so. The menu was easy to read and pretty straight forward. The waitstaff was super friendly and helpful. They poured au jus on our steaks, they fixed up our potatoes for us, and dished up all the toppings for them as well, they even boxed up our leftovers FOR us!
The steak was amazing. The baked potato was amazing. The cheese sauce they pour on it is to die for. Honestly I'll be back. Since Seattle is a 3 hour trip away it's not going to be anytime soon, but the next time the boyfriend and I have a weekend away - I'll definitely consider heading back to Seattle and The Met again.
This was our first visit to The Metropolitan Grill. In a word, the meal and service was a little disappointing. Appetizer was the best part of the meal, nice dessert options, steaks were tasty but my wife's was overcooked and eventually replaced though I'm not sure the waiter felt this was necessary (and it certainly was). I was expecting much more - comparing this evening to some of the steak restaurants we've visited across the country, it fell short in my estimation. Would we return for another meal? Probably not though it appears we are in the minority.
Had a reservation for 1:15 on a Sunday (Wife's B-day). Didn't know they had a brunch menu, expected normal menu. Got seated at a small booth for two and waited and waited. It took the busboy 15 minutes to bring water and I said hi and thank you, he didn't even look up or engage. Another 10 minutes waiter swung by and said I'll be right with you... He came back in 5. I asked about the menu and he gave us a regular menu. We ordered a soup and some salad then some fillets for the main course. Fillets were cooked as ordered but really lacked flavor and had a weird fatty part on the side. Once finished with the main course I had to ask for a desert menu, nothing was offered. Ordered the chocolate cake which was the best part of the meal.
Overall, I expected more from the Met. Service was lacking, very slow however he was friendly when with us. The food was less than what one would expect form a well established well reviewed place like this.
I don't think I will return as there are far better places (Service and food) that have similar menus...
Very impressed with the warm, professional and kind service. Our water was always filled, our needs met. The steaks were superior and cooked the way each person requested. The metropolitan steak house is food experience, not just dinner. Price is a little steep but so well worth it!! Wish parking was easier down town. My husband and I did valet parking but other members of our group had to drive around a bit.
I had high hopes for this restaurant (we came from the east side of the state) and had heard great things. We made our reservation approximately 2 months in advance. Our table was right next to the kitchen. There were other tables for two, but we were in the worst spot. First off my husbands soup was totally forgotten while I was eating my salad. My Salmon was over cooked and my husbands steak, while good, was nothing special. We were extremely disappointed.
Being a fairly well travelled person who has had the pleasure of dining in some pretty amazing restaurants, I must say that the Met is absolutely the BEST of the BEST in every respect! The steaks are incredible, the accompaniments are delicious, and the desserts are to die for! There is really no way to adequately describe how good this restaurant is! You simply have to experience it for yourself!
We've always loved the Met and it hasn't changed much over the years. The steaks are consistently great as is the service. We also had a near perfect Old Fashioned, which we have found to be a rare occurrence unless we make it ourselves.
Of the four of us ordering steak, two had perfectly cooked steaks and two had really really underdone steaks/cold. We planned for an hour and 45 minutes for dinner and finally departed after two full hours- and two undercooked steaks - at one point we hadn’t seen our waiter for 40 minutes. Root vegetables were not fully cooked either - the flavor would have been fine but they were crunchy and not warm.
The manager was very apologetic and compensated part of the meal. The restaurant recently reopened after a remodel- maybe they’re not up to speed yet? Frankly, there are too many good restaurants in town to repeat this experience.
Iconic steak restaurant and I haven't been for a while. Holiday lunch with family and while the ribeye steak tasted good, it was really thin and presentation was odd with it being so thin. Large baked potato overshadowed the steak on the plate. Do not recommend the cheese sauce for the future. Kobe meatball starter was very nice.
In Seattle and looking for a steak place with a great atnosphere...look no further...do not go there if you look fast food..
Place is packed and you need to understand that...use wine masters advice...xcellent. see u next time dudes!!!
The service was excellent. We had a very attentive, helpful and engaging lady in Marla. We were going out for our Christmas as I was visiting from MN. We had wonderful Cab Franc. My son and his wife each had the ribeye. My granddaughter had the prime rib. The appetizers and sides were great. Every one was pleased with their meal. My own personal disappointment was that the flavor of the small filet I had was a bit bland. Our Bananas Foster was the dramatic and delicious finale.
