Loved the atmosphere and food was delish!
Love the brunch menu at Mermaid. Great burger, great cocktails. Can’t wait to go back.
Somehow I always end up ordering the terrific lobster roll.
We were celebrating my wife's birthday and the staff could not have been nicer. We have been there a few times previously and the food is always excellent and the staff is great! We will continue to be enthusiastic customers and will go back soon!
This is a terrific restaurant to go to for dinner or brunch. Service is wonderful.
Incredible everything- our first visit - we will definitely be back!!!

wonderful place always good food and good service. one of my favorite go to places in nyc.
We love the happy hour menu here. The service, from the front of house to tableside was amazing, so friendly, welcoming, and efficient. The fish tacos are great, even better than the shrimp & avocado sliders, I think. And with happy hour prices, it's OK to over-indulge in oysters. Tiny complaint: I wasn't the only person who had to take out a flashlight to read the menu, seems like almost every table around us had to do that too.
The oyster happy hour is great! Overall, the food and service is very good. We go there quite a lot.
In the past I have loved eating at the Mermaid Inn. I had not been there since March of 2020.
When I checked in, they had trouble finding my reservation. Then they asked us to wait while they “sanitized” the table. We waited, asked again and were seated. The table was not set, it looked like the people before had just gotten up. There were still napkins and glasses. It was given a quick wipe…
Our server was efficient but not very helpful or friendly. She did not tell us which oyster was which. Two of us were splitting a whole fish. We asked if they could split it in the kitchen- she said she would bring an extra plate.
I don’t know if she was just in a bad mood or overworked but I expected more from a lovely restaurant like the Mermaid Inn. Thank goodness the food was delicious.
Dear Elizabeth, Thank you for your feedback. I am very sorry your experience didn’t match your expectations. I would love the opportunity to discuss with you any further comments, concerns, or suggestions you wish to share. We would love to make things right if you give us another chance! All best, Lauren
Always amazing to go to Mermaid Inn. They never disappoint!
Always a great night out. Somehow, The Mermaid Inn has figured out how to still do great service in these post pandemic times. No other restaurant comes close to the efficiency of everything in the dining room. And the food is always fantastic!
The happy hour was wonderful, the oysters were small but delicious, the shrimp and salmon tartar were equally delicious. We made a light, early dinner out of the happy hour menu and it didn’t brake the bank!
Food delicious and our server was excellent
Delicious food and thr best oysters in town! TY for making our anniversary special with complimentary cava!
There are too many people in one room with very little space between tables. There were no glass dividers set up in the front room. We were not comfortable and do not plan to return until the spring
We usually go to Mermaid Inn once a week for their happy hours oysters ($15/dozen) along with some good amber beer on tap and a side of excellent thin French fries (hold the salt, which they’ll do). Outdoor space is nice, as is indoor space when it gets cold. It was 65 degrees and late afternoon, so we sat outside.
Christian our server was very friendly and charismatic. He made great recommendations for us including a jazz lounge which we were excited to find in the city. I didn't ask for the woman's name who took our drink order but she was also outstanding and gave me great rye whiskey and bourbon reccomendations as well. The Mac and cheese was one of the best we've ever had. All the food was incredible and so was our evening. Thank you!
Portions were small, prices were how. Food precooked
Great dinner last night at the Mermaid Inn. I was surprised how crowded they were on a rainy fall Monday night. The place was packed inside and out. We were seated inside and the tables were kind of close for a party of two. Though they were checking Vax cards so assume everyone inside was vaccinated.
Nice ambiance, well-informed and very attentive wait staff, approachable menu, with moderate prices as you'd expect from a neighborhood restaurant on the UWS.
We want the fried oysters back on the menu! bravo to the strip steak cooked to perfection ...
The service was impeccable. The oysters were delicious. Mac was yummy. Salmon was perfectly cooked. We love Mermaid. Too bad no more plastic fortunes though!!!
The food was great the only disappointing thing was the calamari salad which lacked taste.
We had a pleasant brunch, but both my husband and I felt that the food was significantly over-salted. I ate only a few of the extremely salty french fries, then gave up on them. My husband independently commented that his food was excessively salty. It was a shame, because the dishes themselves were tasty.
Kind waiters, great lobster rolls, excellent angus burger. Thoughtfully arranged outdoor eating patio with individual heaters for each table.
Love everything about this place, it's great for dinning with friends. The seafood choices are delicious and the service was super attentive and friendly. Gotta go back soon!
Everything at The Mermaid Inn is excellent - the food, The service and the space
The Mermaid Inn never disappoints. If you want a well- prepared, delicious meal with no slip ups or disappointments, you can depend on them. Good for friends and also date nights.
One of the best seafood places if you want to feel like a New England local restaurant
Great spot, good food, great atmosphere, always a winner on the UWS.
one of the best restaurants on the UWS: food is almost always excellent and tasty, service is spot on.
The Mermaid Inn knows how to cook fish. The menu is not very adventuresome and seems staid. It's fine but predictable.
A great dinner with friends, friendly service and good drinks.
The dining for tonight was for my parent’s anniversary. The server has brought us glasses of champagne to celebrate. Very kind and food was delicious as always.
Great ambiance and service, but the food lacked flavor and didn’t taste fresh.
Great place! Oysters were delicious! Good atmosphere, they were able to get us in early.
Great outdoor seating. Food going a bit downhill. Feels more like chain restaurant menu/food. Too bad. Would go again...maybe just for happy hour or brunch. Over saturating with locations...food suffering. Could this be another version of "Red Lobster" chain - especially with planned opening of 42nd Street mega location??
Order took 45 minutes plus to arrive. Waiter apologized for the delay and a complimentary crudo was brought to the table. Hard surfaces in the on-street dining hut elevated the noise level. Food was good; standard brunch fare done well, though the shakshuka seemed under seasoned.
