The Mermaid Inn Uptown
Swim on over for Mermaid Inn favorites like the lobster roll with Old Bay fries, seared skate wing, Mermaid fish tacos and the Happiest of Happy Hours.
he uptown location also features an expanded raw bar, brunch and the same casual and cozy "shore feel" as the downtown spot.
Danny Abrams, who has owned and operated some of the city's most beloved restaurants (including The Red Cat and The Harrison), is the principle owner, and Michael Cressotti is their corporate executive chef.
We were there for Happy Hour and there are a number of interesting items available. Afterwards we ordered from the regular menu and had a delicious special fish and the mac & cheese with lobster (very good).
Great brunch experience! Very attentive service!
Like their expanded space a lot and of course the food is always very good.
Seared calamari appetizer was one of the best dishes I've eaten in years. It had just the right amount of lemon flavor, and the feta cheese added just the right amount of saltiness. On the down side, my husband ordered cod prepared "simply" and it was tasty, but there wasn't much to it. I thought it looked like a child sized portion -- about 2 inches by 2 inches. And it was served on a large plate, which just made it look that much smaller. It would have looked properly proportioned on a plate that you would put down under a teacup. Luckily for my husband, he ordered Brussels sprouts as a side dish, and this was a very generous serving so he didn't leave the restaurant still hungry.
Happy hour is amazing!
I'll definitely come back for mini lobster rolls, mini fish tacos, mini clam chowders, calamari and $1.25 oysters. "Pink Flamingo" is refreshing and delicious too. Crab cakes, Salmon and Old Bay fries were also all nicely seasoned and executed.
Even though there isn't a dessert menu, chocolate pudding was served regardless, it was the perfect end to a satisfying meal.
The services was great, we were in and out in an hour with 3 courses.
Thank you for everything!
Happy hour was fun and great value - the raw bar is fabulous. Mixed drinks on the sweet side wish I'd gone with wine!
Great seafood and ambiance. The happy hour has to be the best in the city. Fresh osyters and firm calamari. Fried osyters are so good. Great for dates, groups or just hanging at the bar. We will be back!
Always one of our favorites. Everything is usually consistent, although sometime the service can be spotty, as it was during our last visit.
Always satisfied. Happy hour oystersare the best!
Awesome happy hour and they give you a complimentary chocolate mousse after dinner!
The server probably had a bad night. He pressured us into placing the entire order at once, and sent out ALL our at the same time. We had to literally carry plates in our hands, until manager came and relieved us of some dishes.
Too bad that because of him the rest of the team suffered in tip.
The crabcake was delicious, as was the kale salad. My boyfriend didn't love his seared tuna, but he thought it was pretty good. The ambiance is lovely - makes you feel like you're out of the city and in Maine or something. Great service!
I eat at Mermaid quite often. Although I will not go back again for a long time. I specifically request a table in the front each time I reserve. They have this request in their system yet time after time they attempt to seat me in the back. Instead of asking if I would prefer to wait for a table in the front they simply head to the back.
I find the front of house rude and inefficient. I understand it is a popular spot but they will eventually lose customers unless they improve the service.
It was a dear friend’s birthday. Since he is a foodie, I always try to bring him to a place where he will be saying yum at every bite. We decided to have pretty much everything from the Happy Hour menu. Every course brought a Wow from him! He is ready to come back very soon. I’m happy.
Always an excellent and consistently delicious choice for oysters, happy hour and fresh seafood.
Wonderful ambiance, delicious food & excellent wine.
Enjoyed the dinner-food,service,ambiance all very nice-
Started with oysters-east coast very nice-cod was delicious as a main course-‘my companion had the strip steak-funny thing for seafood place, but shes had it before and liked it a lot.
Loved the complimentary chocolate potdelcreme—excellent, as was my wine-
Will be back to this very nice neighborhood restaurant-
Perfect evening all around! The 5-7 cocktail hour of wines, cocktails and small bites is especially wonderful. So good every taste and sip
One of the best meals I’ve ever had. Great service. We will definitely go back.
Lovely and delicious.
The noise level was terrible by the end of our meal. We arrived at 5:15 and left about 6 p.m. and
the it was difficult to have a conversation.
The decor is very nice, lively atmosphere, too noisy at times. Food was good, but portions quite small. No bread on table, just crackers. They did serve a tiny chocolate pudding on the house in tiny cups at the end. The fish tacos were very good, but not served with a side. The cod was tasty but small portion. It’s a good neighborhood place.
Wonderful meal taking advantage of Happy Hour drink and appetizer specials from 5-7pm everday. The cod entree is a favorite.
Great server and excellent food prep. Noise was moderate. The TINY print and darkened room just continues the trend of making us take out our cellphones to read the menu. Hopefully you guys break the trend. Even the youngsters in the room can't read the menu.
We will be back flashlights in hand
We love Mermaid Inn. It’s simply the best restaurant on the UWS. Always good.
Great seafood, delicious raw bar items, attentive and courteous service. Decor is less appealing.
There is nothing you can say bad about Mermaid inn. It’s the best in the neighbor.
The food is great and ambiance terrific. But for dinner, place is way too loud. I wish they would get some soft surfaces in there to muffle the noise a bit. Noise is not so deafening for brunch.
Outstanding service and great food and wine
Please note that -- although you wrote me to say we were 'no shows' -- we DID actually eat there and thoroughly enjoyed it. We were in a rush to go to a play; the staff understood that and served us quickly. we were sorry not to be able to linger.
My favorite restaurant in NYC. This was my first time coming for brunch and I was really impressed - I had the farmer's market and I thought everything was super flavorful and fresh. The strawberry butter is to die for and our waitress was kind enough to give us two (lol). Will definitely put in my regular brunch rotation.
Good food and services. Can be noisy
Saturday afternoon brunch did not disappoint! The food was very good, as was the service. Will definitely return!
Great hAppy hour
Everything about Mermaid in was terrific! Great service, lobster roll, fish tacos, sides of Brussel Sprouts & roasted beets were outstanding!
favorite place. love that I can get them to blacken fish tacos and still give me one fried~
Service was excellent the food well prepared and delicious atmosphere was quiet enough for conversation. Had a good meal at a reasonable price.
Best lobster rolls in NYC!
The waiter was great, the food was excellent. My sister in law said she would think about the French Toast for days. My 8 year old ordered off the menu and our server didn't even blink , smile and she got what she wanted.
We love this venue and go once or twice a week. I LOVE the oysters , the cod, calamari , I could go on and on lol :) top notch
Best brunch in NYC!
