The Mercury Ratings and Reviews
My favorite neighborhood restaurant. I have never been disappointed. Cris Ward once in the running for White House chef has maintained a vibrant menu with the addition of sushi. To have some of the best snapper sushi followed with a perfectly cooked steak was a tree.
I have said repeatedly since we dined there.... The duck was amazing! My husband had steak which was very good but the duck.... the duck was amazing. I also appreciated how often my water glass was refilled and how easy it was to sub out the carbs for vegetables. I highly recommend going.
I want to love The Mercury. I really do. The location is perfect and the ambiance is outstanding. But every time I have dinner there I leave with the same opinion... it is not worth the money. The food is always good but not great. The service is adequate but often aloof and detached. The wine list is solid but the mark-up is unreasonably high. I keep going back to The Mercury in the hope that it will be better next time. But so far, I have only left feeling remorse that I did not go somewhere else. So disappointing.
My wife and I decided to treat our daughter and her fiancé to a nice meal to close out the year and we immediately thought of The Mercury. Once again we were delighted with the experience. We were promptly seated upon arrival at our requested table and things continued to go well for the rest of the evening. Our drinks from the bar were very good, the foi gras appetizer was shared by the table and was excellent, and the Wedge salad my wife and I shared was also very good. Our various steak and fish entrees were cooked as ordered so all was spot on once again.
I made reservations for myself and a coworker from London to show him an amazing experience that is "Dallas" and was extremely disappointed to have been put in the sushi room, which has an almost fast food ambiance. I asked to be moved to the main room and was told no. Will never go again. Very very disappointed.
I had reserved a round table for a party of 5, confirmed it 2 hours before my reservation which she confirmed, but when we showed up, the hostess was clueless and did not have the table as requested. And had no idea how to handle it. The service and food redeemed itself and was great but I honestly do not think I will go back there again.
Two old friends and I chose Mercury for our quarterly get-together. On these occasions we want to talk as well as eat well, and Mercury meets our expectations on both counts. The waiter we had on this occasions was particularly helpful, and we asked him to choose our wine for us. He made an excellent choice and we enjoyed it very much.
We love this place for its usual menu! BUT we went at Thanksgiving. When we booked the reservation online, we were not informed that they offer a buffet instead of the usual menu. We did not learn about the buffet until our arrival and felt sandbagged. The buffet was average at best. Prime rib was gristly and tough. Other dishes were OK but not outstanding. Turkey was overcooked. When we got the bill we were shocked to be charged $60 each for a buffet that would go for about maybe $25 even at the finest hotels. We will remain loyal customers, but never again at Thanksgiving, thank you.
Went there for Thanksgiving brunch. Was thankful they had openings due to a mix up on previous res at Table 13. Brunch spread was a pleasant surprise. Everything from ribeyes to omelettes. It was extremely crowded and a 20-30 min wait from initial res time but was tolerable. The back room we were seated in was a bit chilly and a good distance away from the food buffet on the other side but it worked out especially after earlier crowd began to thin out. Service was great back there. The guys out servicing the buffet were attentive. Overall it was a very good experience . Knocked offf a star, 4 instead of 5 for overall due to being too chilly and the wait with having a res. Fourth time dining here and will come back again.
