The Melting Pot - White Plains Ratings and Reviews
At first, greeting staff was a complete pleasure, waiter kind and prompt. Beautiful ambiance, then shortly after screaming children dampened the pleasant experience, followed by the unpleasant temperature. The seating was set just under the blowers, uncomfortably chilly, had to request over three times for an adjustment. Overall, with the above stated, we did have a wonderful time with the quality of service by our waiter and the food.
Unfortunately I️ never got to experience the food at Melting Pot. I️ made a reservation to celebrate my Birthday, almost 3 weeks in advance. I had friends traveling from out of state, with majority very excited to experience the Melting Pot as they had never been. I️ called day of to ensure my reservation was set, and ask if 3 more guests to be added to my table, which they assured me was no problem at all. They also asked me to submit the cheese fondues for the table, so they could be ready at our table when we were sat. My reservation was at 8 pm, and my party was right on time. We were told our table would take a few minutes and to wait at the bar, which was not a problem at all! After 15 minutes went by, I️ asked if our table was ready, and we were told in a few minutes. Then it was 8:30 and a friend went up to ask again, then it was 8:45 and a different friend went up to the host to ask about our table, where she was told “yeah you guys have been asking us a lot”. Finally by 9 pm, we called another restaurant who was more than happy to accommodate our party. As we were walking up the steps, I️ told the host to cancel my reservation, to which they replied “your table is like ready now”.. Now should have been at 8 pm when my reservation was made 3 weeks prior.
It was extremely disappointing, as we were all looking forward to the dining experience. The host never tried to accommodate our party by splitting us into 2 tables or offering free drinks or something to compensate for the delay. They also never kept us aware of our tables status, requiring members of my party to have to check with the host to ensure we were not being forgotten. With 10 people taking advantage of the pre-fixe menu options and drinking, our bill would have easily been at least $700- a loss for the restaurant. This encounter has left a bad experience in my mouth, and those of the other 9 guests, many who had never dined at Melting Pot, and after this, probably never will.
Extremely slow service, which was difficult to understand since they don’t even cook your food. Very overpriced for small pieces of meat and fish which you boil in oil. The oil makes everything taste the same. You walk out of the place smelling like a fried fish. One and done, we won’t be going back.
Good service and a very nice and unique atmosphere. Be prepared to spend money, not cheap and honestly the quantity isn’t very generous. The food tastes good; however, this is more of an experienced based resturant. It’s all about the experience and it’s truthfully a great place to go out with friends to do something different. Cheese and chocolate are the best the main coarse is very different you have to cook your own meat in a broth fondue style which can be fun but one is enough for me . The meat selections are very overpriced and not worth it, that’s just my opinion. Overall a great resturant definitely worth a shot.
We just loved the Melting Pot! You never see fondu offered in restaurants and I have very fond memories of growing up with Fondu served at home. In fact Fondu Pots were often a great wedding or birthday gift. The dipping choices were wonderful and the meat choices were of excellent quality. The service by our waitress was always good. She carefully and expertly prepared the table for us. Our family really enjoyed the experience and we highly recommend The Melting Pot.
Always have enjoyed their unique experience, was sad when the Poughkeepsie location closed, but it is still worth the parking hassle of White Plains, which is why we drove double the distance to go to Poughkeepsie.
Also, our server, Danielle was friendly and on top of everything. Ask for her.
Sadly, we chose the Melting Pot to celebrate my daughter's 12th birthday with our family. Although our sever was lovely and nice, the meal was a disaster. We ordered two cheese fondues, one was yummy, the other was not. Then we ordered salads, all mediocre. Then we had the savory course which was unappetizing, at best. The idea is to cook your own raw beef, chicken, lobster, and shrimp in a bubbling broth. First, all that raw food is not appealing to be sitting around. Second, I found myself worrying that the kids weren't cooking their food long enough, so I started monitoring every piece. Third, the broths that our food was cooking in was not tasty, so needless to say, the food was not tasty. Fourth, this having been our first time, we overordered and wound up wasting a lot of expensive food. The only course that was actually really enjoyable was the chocolate fondue course. That was delicious. But at that point, we had been there 2 1/2 hours and were exhausted and frustrated by the whole experience. We will not be going back again. If anyone was interested in going, I would recommend simply going for dessert.
We have been to this location many times, we drive all the way from Danbury, CT just to come to this place! We have never once been disappointed with the service or food! Perfect for a romantic date night, booths are very private and very comfortable with a quiet, low light setting.
There were five of us. For most of the cooking time, we only had one pot. Then the waiter decided to remove the cheese (which wasn't really thin/smooth enough for fondue) and two pots made it much easier. The chocolate fondue was yummy and fun, but there was too little of it. So I'd say 'less cheese, more chocolate.' And when the treats were brought out for the chocolate, there was so little of it. It seemed to be one small plate for five of us. ?? We had to ask for more, and then a larger plate was brought out. I'm not rushing back.
Food is only matched by amazing staff. They engage you and make an attempt to find out why you chose to go here. Which is nice. We love all the food, every option, and always leave full, but always consider when we may be able to come back. Always have an amazing time and perfect scores in all areas .
Talking about privacy, you get a small room all to yourself and you can literally do whatever you want. Okay people, I'm talking about with food. We were so fascinated with the whole dipping thing and the service was great. I remember it being a pre-fixed menu, which is fine because it's cheaper than getting A La Cart items. Food was great and I would definitely be back.
When we arrived for our reservation we asked for a 2 burner table (my husband & I like different entrees). We noticed that the restaurant was empty & that only a few sections were open. The host took a look at his computer for a while & told us that he doesn't have a 2 burner available. We then told him that he needs to look harder for a table, since the place is empty. Sure enough, in 2 seconds he found us a table. What was that all about?
We were seated and had the nicest waitress.
Through the years we've noticed that the cheese fondues were getting smaller and smaller. This time we thought we'd wise up and ordered doubles of the cheese fondues since we were having the cheeses as our meals. To us, it appears that our doubles are the same size as singles of years ago. We also ordered side salads which were good but meager portions. Our cheese fondues were each about $22 each & the salads were $7 each. We spent more than $60 and still left a bit hungry. So, not great bang for your buck at Melting Pot.
The only saving grace of the place was the sweet waitress.
We want there for a friends birthday dinner and everything was great. One guest had two food allergies and the waiter came with a print out of things she should avoid. The restaurant itself is very accommodating to food allegories and even has gluten free bread for the cbeese fondue course and gluten free treats for the dessert course. The waiter went out of his way to explain everything and the food was delicious. Bonus, great for lingering and chatting. Never felt rushed.
