The Melting Pot - Virginia Beach Ratings and Reviews
This was the absolute worst experience I’ve ever had at The Melting Pot. We had three people, and they sat us in a 2-top. The server kept turning off our burner. She had to stand over us for 15 minutes waiting for the cheese to melt. She brought the wrong chocolate out. We where there three freaking hours! My kid fell asleep in the HOUR between cheese and cooking stock even coming to the table. The host even came by and asked if we enjoyed our chocolate before we had gotten our food it took SO LONG! So, the host knew we were upset. The server knew we were upset. She even apologized for “butchering” our special evening. Yet neither had a manager do a table touch. Absolutely ridiculous. I’ve been here dozens of times, and this has ruined it.
We go to this restaurant often so we know the menu pretty well. The cheese fondue was made without two ingredients, garlic, and nutmeg. When we asked the server about it, she claimed it’s not normally put in there but she could add it if we’d like. The chocolate was also served cold and she never turned the burner on.
This was my first time going with my 10 year old daughter. We went for the experience which we both had a lot of fun. My only complaint would be the booth size. We got a corner booth and it was much to small for me (5’10 160lbs) and my daughter (4’ 60lbs). We were scrambling to find room on our table just to put the food we order. A four course adults entree and a kids entree. I don’t think I was charged the right amount either but I chose not to question it as my daughter was having a wonderful time and I didn’t want to sour the experience. (Classic 4 course with lobster added, water and kids fondue and a kids cherry concoction. The receipt showed the classic at 37.xx, 21.xx addition, 9.xx kids fondue, and 2.xx for kids drink. I thought the lobster was only a 9.xx addition?) Will probably return just for a dessert course as that was my daughters favorite part.
We were here for the first time and had a party of 6. We found the menu a bit confusing and didn't quite understand the process but our server, Ashley, was fantastic at explaining, describing & overall just making it fun and enjoyable. We enjoyed every course and honestly had more than enough food for everyone. The finale of deserts was outstanding! The only negative and it really wasn't a big deal but we were 3 facing 3 with fondue pots towards the outer sides of the table. It was a little difficult to experience all flavors if you were on the end seats. A table that came in after us was pretty loud but I think it's more the open layout that made it seem so loud. Even with those two minor things I wouldn't even consider less than 5 stars. I think a visit here is a must if you're in the area. Do expect at least a few hours there. It doesn't feel like a long time but when you finish and look at your watch you've been there a while. It is a tremendous experience!
First thing, yes it pretty expensive to go somewhere and end up cooking your own food....BUT...you are really paying for the experience. My husband and I went for my birthday and knew we would spend around $100 (with no drinks). The food was okay. The last time we went was several years ago and I just remember the food being better back then. There was nothing awful about it, just not as memorable. The service was excellent. She was very helpful, attentive, and sweet. The issue we had, unfortunately, was with another table. The table had a bunch of women at it there were pretty loud, and they were dropping curse words like it was nothing. The worst part was the manager and his wife were at that same table. One table next to us even had a picture of them and the manager the last time they came to the restaurant, and just wanted to show him. (Yes it was kind of weird) BUT after they left that table couldn't stop laughing and joking on the lady, it was a bit sad and at the very least... very unprofessional.
First time and the experience was great. 5 stars, have to go again. Pricey but worth it for the experience and amazing food. Staff very friendly and helpful. I loved the cozy feel and separate areas for couples where they are blocked off for their own personal experience.
My family and I ate the day after christmas and had a wonderful time. Stevie boy was my server and he made that cheese like no ones business. I heard Nathan was like the best server there but my main man stevie wonder was a comedic genius. He may not be blind or play piano but his fondue skills are over 9000! He was so good that I am currently writing a letter to the president of the united states and inviting him to be served by the one and only stevie wonder.
Music taste is poor step up your game Melting Pot.
We went for. Christmas Eve dinner. We could not have been more disappointed. The cheese fondue did not taste good. The salads were bland & my husband could not taste any blue cheese in his dressing or salad. The Caesar salad was tasteless. The next course, filet and lobster, was also bad. The coc a vin sauce did not taste good and we doubt the beef was in fact filet mignon. The dessert was good. We will never go there again. And it was very expensive.
The food was adequate, but it wasn't worth the $140 that it cost for my wife and I to have dinner. I ordered a regular martini and I guess there was a misunderstanding, because they served me a glass of plain vodka with a lime wedge. When I went to the bathroom another waiter, who was wearing suspenders, came in and started hitting on my wife trying desperately to get her number, when I came back he just stood there glaring at me, eventually he made an excuse about bussing the table and took my half drink and her water glass, the bus boy came a few minutes later. Overall it was fun, but we agreed that it just wasn't anywhere near worth the money that was spent
I have been to many melting pots before and I was not impressed by this one. Our server was great and friendly. The cheese (spinach artichoke) was great, but the portions of bread were cut in half and replaced with what seems like great value chips. The salad (Caesar) had a whopping 5 candy coated pine nuts, which is why I get that salad, and the lettuce was limp and brown on the ends. The entree was good, but got a side of filet mignon and for $8 I got three pieces of steak that were about 1x1 inches. I paid $50 for the same amount and quality of food I could get for $20-30 elsewhere.
My husband and I went here for date night. Overall, it was a great night. It is a bit expensive, so we can't go very often. The only negative thing about the experience is that I ordered a vegetarian meal and my husband ordered meat. We didn't know our food would be cooked in the same pot. So, it ended up being pointless ordering a vegetarian meal. I don't mind it as much as other strict vegetarians might, though.
My experience at The Melting Pot was phenomenal. The service was outstanding. My server was extremely knowledgeable, thorough and helpful (especially while explaining the process of meal courses to a group of first timers). I plan to return again when I am in the area. If you have never been to The Melting Pot it is a great place to spend time with someone because your courses do take roughly 2 hours to complete but the presentation was fabulous, as well as the atmosphere.
The service was really slow. We sat around 9pm and didn’t leave until midnight due to everything coming really slow. Our waiter didn’t check on us too often to see if we were ready to move on to the next selection. I would recommend it to flow a little faster.
