The Melting Pot - Tulsa Ratings and Reviews
Our waiter, Benjamin, was amazing. We had 4 children with us and he took time with them and was very patient. Probably not a place I'd come back with children. Children want to eat now, not wait and cook it at the table. We had 6 people and it took forever to cook all our meats, our forks all kept getting in each other's ways . Probably a good place for a small intimate party.
The cuts of steak were very tough, no matter the cooking time, it was very difficult to eat. Table of four was very cramped for space with everything on the table. Dessert was wonderful. I did purchase a gift card, so I don't want this review to seem to negative. Just wasn't pleased with the cuts of meat.
Our server was always too busy to accommodate any requests we had. When we asked to move to a table with two burners (because we had kids and wanted to have an adult selection, as well as one more appealing for the kids) she turned around to a dirty table that had two burners and said “we don’t have any available”. That table sat dirty for the 3 hours it took us to get all of our food and cook it in one tiny burner.
I would recommend the reservation for dates and get a table away from most of the other diners. That's what made it special. There should be no reason to ask a customer to donate after their dinner. Paying good money for a meal and then being made to feel it is your responsibility to donate is just wrong.
My wife and I come here every year on our anniversary, I asked her to marry me here. This was our 5th wedding anniversary. We were here 4 hours! The manager come over and said "there's nothing I can do for you at this point". We both thought that was very unprofessional. She did offer to pay for our $13 chocolate at one point, which was highly offensive. Considering it was not our fault the burner wouldn't get hot enough to boil our food and a hour and a half later they decide to move us to a different table. The whole experience was awful, and sadly our anniversary tradition will never be the same. We will not be returning.
It was my first time going. Pretty good but wouldn’t go with a group of people as the entire table has to agree on the fondue and broth base. Very romantic setting and the drinks are fantastic. The server talked a little too fast when explaining things so had to ask him to repeat.
For most part a nice restaurant. Depends on people serving as to attentiveness for refills, explaining the menu. Kids prices are partially displayed on the website at $8.95. If you want them to enjoy fondue like you expect an extra $11 per child that's not displayed on the online menu so basically $20. Also, children are not offered a salad like adults as part of their experience.
It's hard to reach the couple (2) of pots with a crowd of 7. Too many forks in cooking pot make it difficult to get forks in and out of pot without getting tangled in others not to mention you have to constantly reach over people. Definitely needed another pot on the tabletop. 2-3 people per pot is max, not 4 plus. And maybe round tables would accommodate larger groups.
Seems the menu changes every time I go there which is a couple times a year. Not sure if that's a good thing or not. I don't like having the wait staff throw the vegetables in the pot ahead of time. I prefer to do it myself because the broccoli gets way over cooked at their 6 minutes. We all forgot they had sunk to the bottom of the pot. Being able to have a choice of vegetables would be nice instead of carrot, potatoe and broccoli all the time. It has issues just like any other place I suppose. Just because it's different doesn't mean it's any better. It is pricey, it is unique, it can be a lot of fun and most times it taste good. Not some place I'd want to go to a lot however.
As always The Melting Pot was wonderful. Friendly staff, a fun and unique atmosphere, and of course the fabulous food! The only request I have is to bring back the Loaded Baked Potato Cheddar cheese fondue—it’s still the best one ever and we were so disappointed that it had been removed from the menu. Otherwise, it was a perfect dinner!
We drove from Joplin, mo about 2 hrs away for my GF birthday. She had never been before so i wanted something special. Between the hand deliveey rose at the table to the birthday cake n candle on a special plate, it was great. Very memorable for us.
my bill was 100$ i left a 10$ tip but the server charged my card 120$. the server was never there and we were one of the only tables there. we had to get help from other people. we had to wait 30 minutes after we finished one course for him to come to us and bring us the next. it was the worst experience i have had at the Melting Pot. i loved the food, it was delicious but the server just made it a terible night.
Excellent service from the host, our waiter, and manager. I wish I could remember names. The host, a young woman with short, black, curly hair found us a great table to see the river. Our waiter, a young man with black hair, an established beard, and thick rim glasses did an amazing job and was patient with us. My family had a great time and enjoyed the experience. We will return.
