the food was great , the service not so much . we started out ok , but we needed things we didn't get like iced tea , water and green goddess . then we were left sitting waiting for our dessert and someone other then our waitress came didn't say a word . he just dropped the cookie crumbs in and left . I had to finish stirring . this was the second time in a row we had poor service . if I had been there only 2 times I would never go back ! the server makes all the difference when dining at The Melting Pot . I am not sure we will go back . then someone else brought us the check , I felt like we were imposing !
We went there to celebrate my birthday and when I reserved the table we specifically mentioned about the birthday. The other tables have balloons and we did not. My daughter was a little upset by that. We enjoyed the fondue except the cheese, because it is too garlicky. I remember the last time we went there, the server ask if we want the garlic or not before she poured it over the beer for the cheese fondue. But this time before we can ask the server he already pour it over the mixture. It's not his fault, we could ask him ahead of time. When we arrive the front was not very accommodating, unlike other restaurants you would think front desk will have a smile for the guest but she wasn't. The meal was good. We ordered the 4 course meal. I like the california salad, the french quarter was good, I like the cajun flavor, my daughter like the sausage, my husband had the steak lovers and he seems to like it too. The classic chocolate is my favorite I had it the last time we were here and still get it this time. The server Ryan was very nice. He mentioned about a candle over the cake but he said he cannot find one.
This was our first time there but Will did a great job describing what happens and what choices we needed to make. He was entertaining too. Food was great and even though we were stuffed, when it was time for chocolate...we managed! Tops for birthday dinners for my daughter.
Long time customer, usually the service is top notch. Was sub-par on this visit, server kept forgetting to bring items that maybe casuals would not have known were missing. Food was great. This one visit would not deter future visits unless this lower level of service becomes the norm.
Wonderful server named copper and the manager Caroline is always pleasent.
It’s a great fondue experience. The food and drinks are amazing!
Another outstanding dinner to celebrate my birthday and New Year's Eve. Outstanding service. Perfect four-course dinner with several selections to choose from. The unexpected shrimp appetizer for all the guests was delicious. And the champagne flute glass gift at the end of dinner was a wonderful surprise. Not to mention the chocolate covered strawberry gift for my birthday. I just love this place!
This was my first time at The Melting Pot, even though I have lived nearby the restaurant for years. My husband and I went as a celebration. The service was excellent; our server was very attentive (the perfect amount), and everyone we came into contact with was welcoming and friendly. The decor is a bit outdated (think grouted/tiled tabletops), but it was cozy nevertheless. We ordered the four course experience, which included a cheese fondue, side salad, entree, and dessert fondue.
The food was OK. Honestly I wasn't wowed, and I am no gourmet foodie by any means. It always seemed like an upscale restaurant to me, and I expected a lot more. We got the Wisconsin cheddar fondue, and it was somewhat bland and lacked flavor. Salad was tasty and appropriately sized. What I didn't realize prior, was that you actually cooked your own entree food in a broth. The server instructed us how long to cook meat vs. seafood vs. veggies, but it seemed to take longer than she said. We got the Coq au Vin broth, and I wasn't crazy about the flavor; it was more earthy than I expected. Perhaps a different broth would change the experience. The array of sauces they provided helped make up for it.
It was somewhat of a novelty to cook your own food, and forces you to slow down and enjoy the meal; however, it was hard to keep track of the cooking times, and we were so focused on cooking that we couldn't have much of conversation. You get two skewers, so you can only cook two pieces at a time, and it was difficult to remember how long they had been in the broth - we had to use the timers on our phones!! The dessert fondue (dark chocolate/marshmallow creme/ oreo cookies) was delicious.
I do think it is normally a quieter restaurant, but we had a group of 8 college girls who were very loud a couple booths down. But they were clearly having fun, and I was there not too many years ago, so we didn't say anything :)
Just make sure to be careful with cooking and handling meat since it is raw.
We were there celebrating our daughters birthday, and the server was excellent, the food was delicious. We would definitely go back.
