Horrible service, waited 10 minutes to get someone to even come over to the front desk to talk to us, they saw us and it wasn’t busy. Then, waited another 15 minutes to get seated by someone who was rude and bored out of her mind. I do not recommend coming here for anyone unless you don’t mind horrible service and very overpriced food.
extremely hot!!! Air conditioning? Wait staff was great
Fondue is fun, so that gets this place points. The cheese and chocolate coursed where really good. And it's plenty quiet enough (and with no tvs) so you can actually have good conversation.
The fondue forks weren't totally clean, the meat course costs a lot for how much meat you consume, the vegetables (broccoli and carrots) had that look that you know means they've arrived at the restaurant pre-cut in a plastic bag where they've been for a long time, the salad was all white iceberg and minimal, and we had to remind the waiter to keep bringing the beers that were part of the flight paired with each course.
Likely we'll just make our own fondue next time we think we want some, but could be a fun late night dessert option.
I Usually have an amazing expieeence at the Tacoma melting pot , this evening was disappointing. 45 minutes to get a glass of wine and the chocolate fondue was terrible. I hope this was an off night for the restaurant.
We showed up for our 6pm reservations at 5:58 and waited until 6:10 for anyone to contact us at the front desk. There were people in the bar who saw us, looked at us, and turned the other way multiple times. So we stood there for over 10 minutes in the lobby watching flies fly around as we were waiting to be seated. Someone finally came, greeted us, then walked away without helping us. When we were finally helped and seated, we were seated in the corner and seemed to be forgotten about as all other tables were getting more attention/refills than we were. The food was good overall, but the experience being "The Melting Pot" and the price of what it is was sub-par and very disappointing.
Over all terrible experience, service was terrible spent 3 hours total at the restaurant waiting 45 min between seeing our waitress.
The dessert fondue is amazing, there is a good variety of fruit and treats. The build your own entree is good for groups, we each picked an item and then shared with each other. Good service, great atmosphere.
Great Service from server Jas. Seems like some smaller portions than we recall in past but server took care of us well.
We were left to wait for almost 20 minutes after our reserved time. We didn't get any silverware until almost 10 minutes after our food came out. My husband went and found us silverware. We did The 4 course pre-fixe option and the food is vastly over priced for what it is. The only star of the meal was dessert. The main course was not very good, mostly bland, the veggies were not seasoned at all and I received the wrong order. For $50 per meal I'd rather not have to cook my own bland meal, we could have had a truly amazing dish somewhere else. This is a novelty act only, the food is subpar and not worth it. It took two and a half hours to get through our meal and we were eating at a regular pace, just mostly waiting. Really disappointed as neither of us had been there and won't ever be going back. Our server was kind and discounted our meal 30% but honestly I wish we had chosen differently for date night. It was a lot of money for poor food.
Was an overall great experience, although it was very humid in the building & made my curled hair for prom fall out. The server was very sweet, he checked on us often. Dessert was the most satifying, loved the peanut butter chocolate dip with pinapple & strawberries. Will definently be back this summer!
Had a party of 11 for my girlfriends birthday. We were placed in our own private room which was great except the service was very slow. Took 30 min to get drinks, water burned and boiled out waiting for the cheese. This isn't a typical melting pot experience but was definitely disappointing especially since most of the party hasn't been before and because it was for my girlfriends birthday and one of her favorite places.
Very expensive but I knew that going in. I find the sur charge insulting. This will influence my thinking on returning in the future.
Usually have a great time here for our special occasions. This time service was extremely slow due to another table getting priority. And we took their “signature chocolate covered strawberries” to go. And then discovered they were molded. First bad experience we’ve had there though. Other times have been great!
We had a great meal and good conversation with our server who was nice enough to reexplain the fondue process multiple times as we were confused and drunk.
Our waitress (from FL) was exceptional and very attentive.
Overall impressed by my experience. Thank you Nicholas and Morgan!
We go to the Tacoma Melting Pot a few times a year. We typically have great service paired with great food. This time it was quite different. So much so that we might actually never return.
We have noticed that the seating/tables etc have started to wear down. The Fondue forks were all damaged (chipped and slivered), and replacements were not any better. Our server had to basically hit the hot plate to get it to turn on. This location needs a little freshening up.
Our server, Kevin, was a hot mess. He continually asked us to repeat our order, forgot to even ask us what cooking style we wanted and shorted us an entire plate of food when it came out. One of the drinks was wrong (Asked for a Seven and 7), received a large glass of warm Seagram's 7. Then corrected by bringing out a small glass of 7-up and pouring it over, making it a VERY STRONG Seven and 7. We ended up flagging other wait staff to get water and drink refills as well. He spilled / poured lots of ingredients as he was preparing our cheese fondue as well. It was pretty frustrating. Mind you, at 7pm, it wasn't even busy.
The food, as usual, tasted amazing. It does look like they have reduced the portion size of the cheese and desert courses though. We have always ended up with a little cheese and chocolate afterwards, but this time we still had plenty of dippers left, with no dip. So that was disappointing.
All in all, it was almost $400 for 4 of us to dine there. With the worn out furniture and utensils, smaller sauce portions and staff that didn't seem well trained the value to go there and cook your own food is gone.
I do hope they spend some time and try and make it like it once was, because it used to be an amazing place to go eat. Until then though, I'd spend your $ elsewhere.
The location is good but time selection for reservation was lacking in options. Had a great time though
Wonderful place to take the special woman in your life.
Food was absolutely delicious. Service was terrible. Took 4 hours for 4 people on a Saturday night. Restaurant wasn’t very busy.
Entire service was excellent. It was a first time visit for two of my dinner guests and they loved the experience! Food was amazing and atmosphere was wonderful. Waiter did seem to rush us out at the end. I’ve eaten here many times, and have never had that happen. Our party didn’t stay longer than any other time that I have dinned. Not sure if it was the end of the waiters shift, but it was noticeable that he was rushing us out.
Amazing food, service was outstanding. I would recommend this for anyone
Great food but service was a little slow. Waitress would say she would get something and disappear for much longer than you would expect and then forget about part of the request. Still a great experience for the family and great food.
Our server Alec was fantastic! I had an awful experience at the one in Seattle and let me tell you total 180! Great bartender before we were sat for our reservation, drinks were delicious, food fantastic and service 5 stars!
We went for our 22nd wedding anniversary and it was so good. The staff was great. Food was amazing. Super happy
Always love the Melting Pot. It’s reserved for special occassions that way we enjoy it more.
Took my wife and mother out here for mother's day. Great food. Great service. Price wasn't bad.
Our waiter “forgot” to bring part of our meal, when asked for the rest of the food he said it was not included and argued, even though we had a menu listing what should be there. The 18% plus 3% added on to our bill was ridiculous for the poor service we recieved. He could not manage to fill anyone’s water, even when asked. He did not offer to refill drinks from the bar either.
This was supposed to be a special Mother’s Day meal, but it will not be remembered for the great service!
Kevin served us well. Being his first night. Keep up the good service!! It was our first night there too.
I am a working single mom in college and after finishing three straight years of online classes, I needed to do something special with my daughters. The Melting Pot was perfect, because it was so interactive and decadent. We felt pampered and thoroughly enjoyed the amount of time we got to spend together talking and tasting such delicious food in a fun way.
We’ve been at the Melting Pot many times, but it was the first time for my father in law . I know it was the night before mother’s day but this was ridiculously slow. We did the the “bid night out “ . It took at least 25 minutes between the time we finished one course and we got the next one. Way too long of a wait ! You would think they will have more people working on a busy night like that. We were seated at 630 and left at 9 after we had to hurry our waiter to bring our check. We love the food and the experience but it only takes one bad night to not want to go back . Sorry about a “downer “ review. My purpose is to help the restaurant get better at managing.
Food was delicious. The service was not good. Our waitress pretty much forgot about us and wasn't very familiar with the menu. For the price we paid, the service should have been much better.
Our family of four frequents The Melting Pot, but this last visit left much to be desired and almost felt like a waste of money.
I took my daughter and her friend to lunch for her birthday. Our server was very pleasant, but said he was brand new to serving (day two) and was given five tables during the Mother’s Day lunch rush. Twenty minutes after ordering, I was still unable to gain his attention to ask for waters. I didn’t get a water until my meal was almost over almost two hours after we arrived. We were on a time schedule (2.25 hours for lunch) and we had to stuff our faces to get out on time because there were long gaps between courses, which significantly took away from the experience. We didn’t even need to hear all the details about how to order and what to expect, so I was confused why it was taking so long. Additionally, the portions are becoming much smaller while the prices have stayed the same for certain options and even increased for others, which was disappointing.
The food was great! The only problem was my waiter Nick. He was very unprofessional , and asked way too many personal questions. I was there on a date and he pretty much ruined it by making things awkward.
Our first time was great. We did the four course experience and it was surprisingly pleasant.
Great special occasion spot. Very pricy. Great service. Tight booths for plus sized. Neighboring table was very loud and had a timmer going off.
The wife and I were very disappointed! We came for our anniversary. For the money spent we were expecting a lot better experience. Parking is bad to say the least. Food was very bland tasting!
We arrived for our reservation and waited 10 minuets for someone to come to the front to seat us. I guess the front was on break or in the ladies room. The bar staff knew we were there... the waiter and the bartender but couldn’t be bothered. No they were overwhelmed with customers. The bar area was pretty empty. (We arrived at 1:25pm for a 1:30pm reservation).
When we were seated it was nearly under a speaker that was blasting music. We tried to flag our waitress, but she waited two of her other tables before coming to see why we were trying to get her attention. We asked to move... the restaurant was pretty empty. (I guess the new hours for lunch isn’t well known yet...). Back to our customer experience: our waitress said she’d have to ask the front where we could move to... so we waited for her to come back. She came and we were moved to another booth. Note: music was too loud here as well... but not sitting under the blasting speaker was better.
From this point forward our experience was much better! The waitress was informative and professional as well as personable. The food was delicious! We ordered the lunch special.
The bill was 108.00 for 2 people... That’s high for lunch!! Yes we ordered a beverage... but still that’s high.
Id give a 3.5 of 5 for restaurant ambience and performance - the music was too loud and we waited for 10 min to be seated in a near empty restaurant and ended up under a blaring speaker. The music wasn’t pleasing in content... sounded like a local band ...
4.5 for the food. Very good! Portions were good.
We’ll go back.
When we arrived there was no one at the front desk. We had to walk to the back to find someone. Then we had to wait another 10-15 minutes for a table, even though we had a reservation and the place wasn't packed.
Once we sat down, service was friendly and attentive. The Melting Pot is pricey, but you get a lot of food and it's a fun experience. Great for a date or fun night out with friends.
