The Melting Pot - Tacoma Ratings and Reviews
Everything was amazing start to finish. We decided to order the four course classic and started with the cheese fondue course. The salad was the only unremarkable part of the meal. The main course was divine, we loved the dipping sauces. Dessert was by far the best course. We would definitely go again!
It had been a while since I visited this establishment. It doesn't seem to have changed all that much, which isn't necessarily a bad thing. The ambience is nice, service was on the cusp of being excellent, and the food while decent, still doesn't justify the outlandish price. I understand that you're paying for the experience and all, but even then, it's a bit too pricey for what you get. But overall it's an enjoyable experience, one that you should enjoy for yourself at least one time.
We go to the Melting Pot in Tacoma often and this time it was horrible. The waiter kept disappearing. Our cheese fondue and salads came out at the same time. When the entree finally came he forgot the veggies. We were done with our meat by the time he brought the veggies and we didn’t eat them. At that point we were ready to go, didn’t even eat the chocolate. We paid for the 4 course meal for each of us. Our bill was $157. I will not be returning. Right when I got in the car our stomachs started turning and we were both sick all night. It was just horrible.
Me and the wife got the 4 course experience, to start off we got the Quattro FORMAGGIOLOCAL cheese fondue, it came with cubes of wheat and French bread, assorted veggies and some green apples. The breads texture tasted as if it was almost staled, the veggies were kept out in the open to long, and the fondue had waaaay to much garlic in it. It was to over powering, and pretty sad is that the fondue just came with bread really to eat with:/
Next up was our "farm fresh salads"
My melting pot house salad had romaine and ice berg lettuce a egg and HEAVILY DRENCHED cheap ranch, it wasn't appetizing at all, the ice berg lettuce tasted as if it came from the super saver store so you can save some money.
The wife's Caesar salad was a bit better, and that was my first instinct to get.. and it reminded to always just go with your gut.
It's been now over a hour now and still haven't received my entrees and it's taking a awfully long time, I just walked around and it doesn't seem to busy, all the large tables seem to be vacant
I got the steak lovers choice which includes
* Premium filet mignon
* Teriyaki-marinated sirloin
* Certified Angus Beef® sirloin
And a side choice of their Cajun shrimp
All the meats were good, but not as good as thought it would be, but Best one of all was the Cajun shrimp which I was happy about
The wife got FONDUE DELIGHT which includes
* Premium filet mignon
* Cold water lobster tail
* All-natural chicken breast
* Wild mushroom sacchetti
Those were pretty okay nothing to spectacular.
THANK GOD I GOT THE CHOCOLATE Fondue.
Milk chocolate with almonds and a dash of cinnamon. Loved the Rice Krispie treats and marshmallows. But that felt like eating like a lil kid. 139$ did NOT FEEL ANY VALUE AT ALL
Waitress spilled a drink on us, didnt care... offered us coffee... after ruining my wifes dress and my shirt.
Also couldnt figure out how to seperate the bill between 2 couples. Kept asking if we "just wanted it split in half".
Food was great but service left a lot.to be desired for an almost $300 dinner.
Although the service was great, we thought the cost was very expensive for what we got. We ordered the chocolate fondue and while it was tasty, there were very little items to dip into the chocolate. The cheese fondue was just okay, and again expensive for the items we got.
The floors in the restaurant were badly in need of a vacuum. Because the carpet is dark, everything shows up. There was junk everywhere. There appeared to be many servers, so I cannot believe it would be too difficult to use one of those sweeper things as people left.
We would not return again.
The only thing we were disappointed in was the fact we went with another couple and requested the big night out for each couple but we were only given one so there wasn't enough food for 4 people. We tried explaining but the waiter assured us we were getting enough for 4 but the table next to us had 2 people and the same amount of food. This was my 3rd visit and I definitely was disappointed since I had talked it up to my husband and friends who had never been.
Took my wife to the Tacoma location for her birthday, they "ran out of lobster" as we watched the people across from us get brought out lobster. My wife ordered a moscato and they where also "out" of this as well. We waited for our server to return to start our 3rd course for over 20 mins and where informed a large party of 40 had came in and all the servers decided to help this party and basically admitted to neglecting everyone else. We honestly did not care that much, however when we got our bill we where charged for the moscato we never got and had to request it to be removed, after waiting for 10mins for a revised bill we where brought out a slip with a corrected amount and told there card machine was down and we would sign for it now and they would ring it in when it became operational again. It has been 2 days now since our visit, they charged my card $10 more than what was agreed upon on the slip. Needless to say this was the last straw and was not impressed with my visit and will not return.
They had some kind of issue with the Bar & computer system later. I greatly appreciated that the manager came to the table and let us know, and apologized. That being said, someone should have said something early. We waited 45 minute after the drink order before any one came back to the table or said anything.
Food was way over seasoned couldn’t even taste my lobster tail just what seemed like paprika it was covered in, to the point I cut the top off and didn’t eat it so I could taste something other then that, however the teriyaki pork that was good and I would also have to add that the desert dish was amazing. the wait staff was really friendly and the atmosphere was nice. Would I go again no, was it a nice one time thing yeah just not $200 dollar nice for two people. But that’s with the 25 dollar tip and almost 20 for the cheap beers they sell for 8.00 but they do open the bottle for you and put it in a beautiful glass so if your not looking for quality and just appearance that’s fine.
We absolutely love dining at the Melting Pot! Every year we go around my birthday and sometimes get in an extra visit. This has been our tradition 12 years and counting. The 4 course meal is definitely the way to go as you get to try everything. The experience is like none other. Do not go with someone you don't enjoy talking to!
Absolute disaster. We arrive 10 minutes early to be sat on a blistering fireplace hearth. After 20 minutes of waiting I discover the bar, grab a drink and was shown our table. Upon reviewing the menu we order our first course which was quickly shot down due to a shortage of ingredients. Per the server “our manager is new and didn't order white wine” ... OK fine. We were all good until about an hour goes by ( I’m patient) and we don't have salads or our main course...or water. So I go find this forgetful manager downstairs and let him know we haven't seen our server in an hour. He awkwardly followed me to my table, located my server and offered to buy our first round of drinks. :0 After learning I had already paid for them he hands me a free chocolate card... Oh and learn to work the temp control. Our first and last course began to burn right in front of our eyes. To top the night off – the last two drinks I ordered were denied because the bar had already closed the coffee. I work hard for my dollars – too hard to waste them over lethargic staff stumbling to serve ingredients that I cook at my table. Management needs training on how to support staff and touch tables – elementary management skills.
Our experience was great! I read reviews prior to going to dinner tonight and they were awful! Stated that servers were basically neglecting the customer. Not the case at all! Every staff's member that walked by stopped to ask if we needed anything. 2 managers also stopped by. The food was amazing, the staff was amazing! Overall it was an awesome dinner, well worth the money and time!
We felt rushed by the waitress and did not understand how/what to order. We asked questions that were not answered. Waitress didn't seem to listen or care. Very disappointed in our waitress, and that ruined our experience. Not sure if we will try again. Too rushed! Didn't feel as if our waitress cared or answered questions at all. Food was just OK.
Trying out the whole fondue experience. We love love love the dessert- an array of fruits, marshmellos and cakes dipped in warm chocolate. The food was just ok - it’s fresh but I think I chose the wrong cheese, too overpowering and all I could taste besides the strong cheese was the white wine!!! However the base broth was decent. I wasn’t blown away with the taste of the food but I’d come back for the desserts. Above all, the service is exceptional (Tacoma location).
