This was supposed to be a special night out with my family. Although the server was friendly, the hostess rolled her eyes at my dad when he came in in a wheelchair (although I called ahead and reserved their one wheelchair accessible table). She even asked me if we "knew what kind of a place this is". Once we ordered it took 2.5 hours to get our entree. We had to cook it all at once and asked for a take home container so we could eat it later. (Not quite the fondue experience I was hoping for him). We didn't get to order desert because there wasn't time. Dad had to get home for his medications. I have eaten here several times before but have never been treated poorly before (maybe because I'm not in a wheelchair?) Their response for slow service was that they overbooked reservations. (Although there was no explanation to us during meal service, all the staff just seemed to disappear. Sadly, I won't be going back there.
Go all the time. Always happy with our dining experiences there.
While the service was a bit slow, the waiter was friendly and helpful. The food was good. Overall a good experience.
Absolutely outstanding!!! The food and service were great.
The service was slightly lacking- forgetting to bring out plates for the cheese fondue and not once refilling my near empty water glass. They also had an order snafu, so there was no oil cooking available- which is our favorite to make batter dipped with. The cheese course mentioned having pretzel bread, none was on our tray. Slightly disappointing visit for long time/multiple visit locals.
Food and service was mediocre for how expensive it was. Would have spent our anniversary and spent the 200$ it cost somewhere else.
Took my mom, aunt, and Grandma for a girls night. Had so much fun. Our waiter was excellent. The food was amazing. The entire experience was enjoyable. We laughed so much trying to figure out how to do this all as we were all new to fondue. Would definitely recommend this to someone who wants to have a great time and enjoy so quality food. It would be cool if there were seasonal choices as well.
We had a wonderful dinner. I told the waitress we needed to be on the road by 7:30 and she got us out early. The cheese fondue was scrumptious as always. The main course was fantastic and the chocolate was to die for. Thanks for a great experience
We ordered just the classic cheese and basic chocolate fondue and was very happy. Our waiter was helpful. I was disappointed that the restaurant was empty and we seated next to the only other two parties
The experience my date and I had at the Melting Pot was amazing. Our server was Jass and he was extremely helpful and very nice. The food was delicious and the wine was great, we will definitely be going back.
Not worth the money, used to be amazing. We took my mother in law there and it wasn’t worth the money, food wasn’t good. The menu said a different thing then what we got. Happy hour is only available in the bar
My husband really wanted to eat here for his birthday. I was told twice that I could purchase chocolate covered strawberries and have "Happy Birthday" written on the plate, this was wrong. Instead of getting what I asked for I got the strawberries in a to go container and was told "Sorry, we're out of icing, but you can have the strawberries".
The food was excellent, if a bit pricey. The server was very friendly and able to answer all of our questions, but he was slow with everything. We waited a long time for everything, especially for him to drop off the check. We will definitely be back.
The hostess needs to learn some people skills. We arrived just before our reservation time and she made us wait to be seated. Most of the tables were empty. Our waiter was excellent. He went above and beyond to make sure we were having an enjoyable experience.
Good for special occasion. Reliable and consistent. Bit overpriced
went in for a special & wasn't super clear except it was explained the price was for 2 people...not the individual price so with that we decided to charge us for 4 people. The fondue pot had already been put on the table & was never sized up so we had a lot of left over food (as it was prepared for 4 people) and no fondue to go with it.
Would have rather paid for a menu item & been full. Too many carrots given & not enough bread or other vegetable.
Food was delicious. Server was excellent...went out of her way to accommodate our changes to the cheese fondue (i.e.less garlic, no pepper). The only down side is that there is only one heating element in the middle of the table so everyone has to agree on one fondue...and 3 of us wanted 3 different ones! And, it does take longer than an ordinary restaurant dinner but was relaxing and enjoyable.
The hostesses left a lot to be desired. Not welcoming at all and when i called to confirm my reservation, the gal who answered said she had changed the number of guests and added a note about wheelchair access but when we got there the next day, she had not done any of the above. Our server, Logan was fantastic and the food is always delicious, although overpriced but the experience is worth it to me.
Loved the atmosphere of the restaurant however we ended up being there for 3 hours! The service was Very Slow. Only able to order one beer in that time as well. Had to order 2 four course meals but only received one cheese fondue and one dessert fondue. The meat was not seasoned (which we knew before ordering) however their dipping sauces were not good.
Everything was great, except all we could focus on was how dusty all the airducts, vents and lights were above us. You see it the min you walk in to while you're dining. That's my only negative comment. Jas is a great server.
I took my girlfriend here for our anniversary. The hospitality staff managed to get almost everything together for what I had ask but did not get the private seating nor the desert tray with a message on it. The wait staff was amazing they where attentive but not overly so with great suggestions for food.
Not happy with the service. My wife and I made a reservation for 645 through the online reservation option on their website. Upon arrival the hostess told us our reservation was made for 530 and when I showed her the confirmation email for 645 she did not acknowledge there was a mistake in her system rather shrugged her shoulders and said it would be a 20 minute wait... there were multiple tables open in the restaurant but instead the hostess had us wait for a reservation we were on time for. Not happy.
Meh, as far as Melting Pot's go. I've been to other Melting Pot's with better service & ambiance. We had a reservation, but had to wait 15 minutes to get a table. Our server was friendly, but appeared frazzled & even told us he had him running ragged. The women's bathroom was disgusting, toilets plugged, stalls without toilet paper, toilet paper & paper towels on the ground. I'll not go back to the Tacoma Melting Pot.
It was my daughters birthday and even though I included on our reservations no one asked if there was an occasion. When we sat down at our booth. The waiter was attentive at first and took our meal order very quickly but forgot to ask if anyone wanted to drinks. So I had to ask the kids if they wanted to order anything.
We tend to eat at the melting pot for special occasions usually 3-4 times a year. But tonight was the worse service. Drink glasses went unfilled. Coffee ordered and never received. My son trying ordering three different beers and told they were out of all of them. We heard the table behind us order a beef entree but was told they were out. When dessert time came we ordered banana foster and it came out and was just placed on the burner no flamabe no cinnamon and cold. I called the server back and he did take it back and came out and lit it on fire and said You re right I am new here. He left the spoon in after he lit it on fire no stirring no nothing.
The question is Will we ever come back???
We had the 4 course meal, lots of food, too much for me. Next time I will order entree and dessert. Great food, awesome service, wonderful manager.
Horrible service, waited 10 minutes to get someone to even come over to the front desk to talk to us, they saw us and it wasn’t busy. Then, waited another 15 minutes to get seated by someone who was rude and bored out of her mind. I do not recommend coming here for anyone unless you don’t mind horrible service and very overpriced food.
extremely hot!!! Air conditioning? Wait staff was great
Fondue is fun, so that gets this place points. The cheese and chocolate coursed where really good. And it's plenty quiet enough (and with no tvs) so you can actually have good conversation.
The fondue forks weren't totally clean, the meat course costs a lot for how much meat you consume, the vegetables (broccoli and carrots) had that look that you know means they've arrived at the restaurant pre-cut in a plastic bag where they've been for a long time, the salad was all white iceberg and minimal, and we had to remind the waiter to keep bringing the beers that were part of the flight paired with each course.
Likely we'll just make our own fondue next time we think we want some, but could be a fun late night dessert option.
I Usually have an amazing expieeence at the Tacoma melting pot , this evening was disappointing. 45 minutes to get a glass of wine and the chocolate fondue was terrible. I hope this was an off night for the restaurant.
We showed up for our 6pm reservations at 5:58 and waited until 6:10 for anyone to contact us at the front desk. There were people in the bar who saw us, looked at us, and turned the other way multiple times. So we stood there for over 10 minutes in the lobby watching flies fly around as we were waiting to be seated. Someone finally came, greeted us, then walked away without helping us. When we were finally helped and seated, we were seated in the corner and seemed to be forgotten about as all other tables were getting more attention/refills than we were. The food was good overall, but the experience being "The Melting Pot" and the price of what it is was sub-par and very disappointing.
Over all terrible experience, service was terrible spent 3 hours total at the restaurant waiting 45 min between seeing our waitress.
The dessert fondue is amazing, there is a good variety of fruit and treats. The build your own entree is good for groups, we each picked an item and then shared with each other. Good service, great atmosphere.
Great Service from server Jas. Seems like some smaller portions than we recall in past but server took care of us well.
We were left to wait for almost 20 minutes after our reserved time. We didn't get any silverware until almost 10 minutes after our food came out. My husband went and found us silverware. We did The 4 course pre-fixe option and the food is vastly over priced for what it is. The only star of the meal was dessert. The main course was not very good, mostly bland, the veggies were not seasoned at all and I received the wrong order. For $50 per meal I'd rather not have to cook my own bland meal, we could have had a truly amazing dish somewhere else. This is a novelty act only, the food is subpar and not worth it. It took two and a half hours to get through our meal and we were eating at a regular pace, just mostly waiting. Really disappointed as neither of us had been there and won't ever be going back. Our server was kind and discounted our meal 30% but honestly I wish we had chosen differently for date night. It was a lot of money for poor food.
Was an overall great experience, although it was very humid in the building & made my curled hair for prom fall out. The server was very sweet, he checked on us often. Dessert was the most satifying, loved the peanut butter chocolate dip with pinapple & strawberries. Will definently be back this summer!
Had a party of 11 for my girlfriends birthday. We were placed in our own private room which was great except the service was very slow. Took 30 min to get drinks, water burned and boiled out waiting for the cheese. This isn't a typical melting pot experience but was definitely disappointing especially since most of the party hasn't been before and because it was for my girlfriends birthday and one of her favorite places.
Very expensive but I knew that going in. I find the sur charge insulting. This will influence my thinking on returning in the future.
Usually have a great time here for our special occasions. This time service was extremely slow due to another table getting priority. And we took their “signature chocolate covered strawberries” to go. And then discovered they were molded. First bad experience we’ve had there though. Other times have been great!
We had a great meal and good conversation with our server who was nice enough to reexplain the fondue process multiple times as we were confused and drunk.
