The Melting Pot - Tacoma Ratings and Reviews
We only to go The Melting Pot very occasionally, more as a special occasion type of thing. The server was fine--my husband's alcoholic drinks were refilled quickly, but my tea and my son's soda were NEVER refilled, even after leaving them at the end of the table. I had to ask for water and then ask again when it didn't show up. Maybe she was busy, understaffed, not sure. Food was great and she did a good job of getting us whatever additional food we asked for. She offered to take pictures, which was nice and did a nice job of reviewing the menu.
We had an excellent dinner! Food was great and service was very good, considering they were very busy. We had an out of the way table and had a nice quiet dinner. Management at the Tacoma Melting Pot should be very proud of the way their employees handled a very busy time between 2 Garth Brooks concerts.
We came to Tacoma for a concert and decided to treat ourselves to dinner . The traffic was absolutely horrible with multiple closed roads which made us almost an hour late for our reservation. The staff was amazing and kept our table ready for us .The service and food both were amazing and the staff were all friendly . I can’t wait to come back !
Service was quite slow, we were given several free items to “apologize for the wait”. Of course, it’s a nice gesture, but I would rather just get my food on time. The cheese course was not good. I’ve had this several times at other locations, and because it’s a chain restaurant I would expect it to be prepared similarly. The texture and flavor we’re both off here. We waited so long for our dessert course that we didn’t actually get time to eat it. I asked him to go to the manager When no discount was offered. He came back with a check that had taken half off our cheese dessert combo, but still paid for dessert even though it was brought out too late for us to eat it. In the end I’m sure they did what they thought was fair. But when a meal is screwed up from beginning to end, it just seems sad to make somebody pay for it. I’m not a complainer, I’ve been to melting pot loads of times, it’s why we chose to eat here while we were visiting from out of town. We usually experience good quality food and service. For me to say that we didn’t, something was off. When a meal is screwed up from beginning to end, it just seems sad to make somebody pay for it. For me to say that we didn’t, something was off. Thankfully we don’t live locally, so we wouldn’t have a reason to return to the Tacoma location anyway, but it’s likely we won’t return to the Portland location now either if this is indicative of the current level of quality that the restaurant is prepared to accept from its staff. We were out for a special occasion, and it was my children’s first time at the restaurant, it’s just very sad all around. We basically ended up paying $50 plus tip, because I’m one of those people who still have to tip, for an iced tea, two sodas, and a dessert course we didn’t have time to eat.
Fondue is fun and this was our first experience with it. I didn't mind the high price for a special occasion but we won't be going back. The waitress and the food were pleasant but the whole experience wasn't fitting for the fine dinning price tag. The food is WAY overpriced; it would be worth going there if the food was 1/2 the price or less.
There was a mistake on our bill and when we brought it up they not only fixed it but they gave us a coupon for a free dessert. The customer service that night was on par, but...
The next day we found out they WAY over charged our card, several times to much! And when we called them on the phone about it the manager was rude to my wife and dismissed her without even listening to what she had to say so I got on the phone and treated him how he treated my wife. When he realized that we were not going to be happy until he took care of it he took down our information and said he would take care of it and get back to us, then abruptly hung up on me. The entire call was a waste of time because he still hasn't called us back (days latter) or fixed it with the bank. Now I'm hopping that when they go over their receipts for that night they will find their mistake and fix it without further work on my part, but I'm not holding my breath. I will probably have to work with my bank to get this fixed. A billing issue is a simple mistake. They should have at least apologized for their mistake and helped us until we were happy but they had our money their "Customer Service" stopped.
Above anything else the way he treated my wife was completely unacceptable!
If after reading this review you still want a fondue experience all I'd have to say is use cash.
Great for a couple! We had 3 in our party and it was a bit awkward. The table left little room for comfortable dining. And with 3 people we had to all agree on what we would fondue in. Food and service were good though and they continuously offered additional portions.
More of an experience than a meal, staff was very friendly. It did take them about 10 minutes longer to get our table ready as it was an "anniversary" spread, so roses / champagne. But it was completely worth it. Booths are fairly private. It is a little loud with the open ceiling.
We would definitely come here again!
Went there for desert with my husband, the server was great, we were in and out pretty quickly, and the chocolate was decedent. I would definitely say everything was great except the front desk individual was very rude both in person and over the phone. She even told us the earliest she could get us in was 9:00pm which was comedic because we made a reservation for 4:45 online just minutes after.
We had a great time celebrating my husbands birthday. It was our son’s first time there. He is almost 6. He loved it. The server was outstanding and went out of his way to include my son in the process. The food was amazing as always. Beverages came out very quickly and were delicious. Thank you!
It seemed like they didn't know where they were going to seat us. The window tAble were available but we got placed in a tiny corner. No elbow room to eat. It did take a long time for us to get our main course. But the server was good and the food was good.
They accommodated our special needs guests and a last minute head count change. Service was very good. Be forewarned you will pay a hefty amount for a large group. Contract required plus 23% mandatory gratuity and city charge. Well worth it if you can afford to go.
Really enjoyed mine and my husband's birthday dinner. Our server was sweet and attentive. Bus boys promptly filled waters and took dirty dishes. Got to know each of the staff and really enjoyed the feel of the restaurant. Our dining experience was 2.5 hours of relaxation and delisious food. Almost didn't have room for desert after the first three courses. Would recommend to anyone I know.
Our server was very absent from our dining experience. We ordered waters first thing, and we didn't get them until after our cheese fondue arrived. Asked for extra bread for the fondue, and it didn't get delivered for ten minutes, when we managed to use our forks to just scrape the rest of the cheese from the pot. Manager walking by asked how we were doing, and we said okay, but we were waiting for our salads. Five to ten minutes later, the broth for dinner shows up, delivered by someone other than our waitress. We ask about our salads again. Salads finally come out (delivered by a bus boy), and our broth has been boiling for a while now. By the time we finish our salads, the broth had evaporated an inch in the pot. When our meat came out for dinner, we asked for more broth, which was forgotten about. The bus boy came by again a little later, asked if we needed extra sauces. We said yes, and asked for more broth. This bus boy served us more than our actual server did. It took over two hours from start to finish of our meal, and we were constantly waiting. It was slightly busy in the restaurant, but our waitress didn't let us know that the kitchen was backed up until an hour and a half into our meal. The food was wonderful, but the service completely killed the evening.
