The Melting Pot - Tacoma Ratings and Reviews
Our reservation was for 815. We showed up at 813, then waited 10 minutes to be seated with no explanation. The bar area was closed. The restaurant was about 1/3 full.
Our server was nice, but clearly brand new and no one was supervising or training him. He struggled and I genuinely felt bad for him.
The pared down menu was a full 3 course dinner with an extra appetizer (snow crab legs) and salad.
We ordered a bottle of wine. The server brought out the bottle and just put it on the table. Still closed. No bottle opener. Tgen he walked off. He returned and started making the cheese fondue. We asked for a bottle opener and mentioned the snow crab legs.
He left and returned with the snow crab legs and no opener. Then walked away again. We stopped him and asked again for a bottle opener. He came back with an opener, then sheepishly looked at us and asked us how to use it. My girlfriend taught him how to open a wine bottle.
The cheese fondue was good, as were the dipping foods.
The waiter removed the cheese fondue and started making the dinner fondue. At which time we reminded him there was a salad course. So he left the fondue boiling at the table while we ate our salads.
During the main course, the restaurant had started to clear out, so the staff decided to vacuum the restaurant while we ate. My date and I had to practically yell at each other to have a conversation. Very romantic.
After vacuuming, the staff must have finished their evening routine, because for the rest of our meal we had to listen to all the revelry in the nearby kitchen. About 10 staff all started chatting loudly, laughing, and telling lewd jokes to each other. I was embarrassed for our waiter and the restaurant.
The bill was $225. For 2 dinners and a $30 bottle of wine. All in all, the food was ok, the ambiance was terrible and the service was awful. No where close to the value I'd expect for the price.
I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone.
The menu is a little confusing because they have individual pricing and all inclusive prices. The waitress was really nice but it was her second day so she wasn’t smoothe and didn’t know the answers to our questions. I think it’s extremely overrated and over priced.
We had an early valentines date night and we had a great time. This is the 4 th state that we have had the melting pot and we were not disappointed. The wait staff was on top of everything and checked in regularly to see if needed anything. Our drinks never went empty and food was brought out right on time for the next course. I would recommend the 4 course experience and it was worth the money.
My husband and I were celebrating our wedding anniversary and we thought the melting pot would be special. It wasn’t our first time and we were disappointed. We had empty drinks our entire main course. Things felt rushed. The extra dessert we ordered we ended up getting the wrong one but never saw our server again to tell her. We waited a lot and it wasn’t worth it any more. I wish we went somewhere else that made our night special.
It was my first time in this restaurant and my birthday ! The server didn’t take time to explain how to order and other features of this place. We kinda figured the menu on our own. We didn’t know that we have to cook our own food and were never explained that. Food is overpriced, the place is very dark , not kids friendly.
I love the valet service. We did not have to wait at all for our reservation. I asked for a downstairs table as my father was recovering from surgery and that is what we received. We knew exactly what we wanted and gave our order. The cheddar cheese was WONDERFUL!! The MOJO with my Angus, Pork and Chicken and my Dad's choice of Shrimp, Pork and Chicken was devine. we had Turtle for dessert this time. We were so full we had to take half of it home! Love this place..
My family and I goes here frequently. However, the last time we went on a weekend, my card was swiped 5 times totalling over $500. When I spoke with the manager they told me to call my bank to release the hold. My bank cannot release the funds because it was pending. So, melting pot pretty much left me broke all weekend, until my funds were released.
The food was good as usual. The service on the other hand was miserable... The server we were given paid very little attention to us and poorly explained the options to our friends that had never been to the restaurant. We received the wrong cooking liquid. She had dropped some of our cooking forks on the ground and never returned with new ones as promised. I had to go find a different server to acquire new cooking forks. I know a meal at the melting pot takes a while but we were there for 2 1/2 hours and not by our choice. We spent a lot
Of time sitting with no food, pots that had boiled almost dry, empty water glasses and nw cocktail refills. For a table that spent well over 300 dollars for a dinner I was massively disappointed. It will be quite some time before I return.
Everything was amazing start to finish. We decided to order the four course classic and started with the cheese fondue course. The salad was the only unremarkable part of the meal. The main course was divine, we loved the dipping sauces. Dessert was by far the best course. We would definitely go again!
It had been a while since I visited this establishment. It doesn't seem to have changed all that much, which isn't necessarily a bad thing. The ambience is nice, service was on the cusp of being excellent, and the food while decent, still doesn't justify the outlandish price. I understand that you're paying for the experience and all, but even then, it's a bit too pricey for what you get. But overall it's an enjoyable experience, one that you should enjoy for yourself at least one time.
We go to the Melting Pot in Tacoma often and this time it was horrible. The waiter kept disappearing. Our cheese fondue and salads came out at the same time. When the entree finally came he forgot the veggies. We were done with our meat by the time he brought the veggies and we didn’t eat them. At that point we were ready to go, didn’t even eat the chocolate. We paid for the 4 course meal for each of us. Our bill was $157. I will not be returning. Right when I got in the car our stomachs started turning and we were both sick all night. It was just horrible.
Me and the wife got the 4 course experience, to start off we got the Quattro FORMAGGIOLOCAL cheese fondue, it came with cubes of wheat and French bread, assorted veggies and some green apples. The breads texture tasted as if it was almost staled, the veggies were kept out in the open to long, and the fondue had waaaay to much garlic in it. It was to over powering, and pretty sad is that the fondue just came with bread really to eat with:/
Next up was our "farm fresh salads"
My melting pot house salad had romaine and ice berg lettuce a egg and HEAVILY DRENCHED cheap ranch, it wasn't appetizing at all, the ice berg lettuce tasted as if it came from the super saver store so you can save some money.
The wife's Caesar salad was a bit better, and that was my first instinct to get.. and it reminded to always just go with your gut.
It's been now over a hour now and still haven't received my entrees and it's taking a awfully long time, I just walked around and it doesn't seem to busy, all the large tables seem to be vacant
I got the steak lovers choice which includes
* Premium filet mignon
* Teriyaki-marinated sirloin
* Certified Angus Beef® sirloin
And a side choice of their Cajun shrimp
All the meats were good, but not as good as thought it would be, but Best one of all was the Cajun shrimp which I was happy about
The wife got FONDUE DELIGHT which includes
* Premium filet mignon
* Cold water lobster tail
* All-natural chicken breast
* Wild mushroom sacchetti
Those were pretty okay nothing to spectacular.
THANK GOD I GOT THE CHOCOLATE Fondue.
Milk chocolate with almonds and a dash of cinnamon. Loved the Rice Krispie treats and marshmallows. But that felt like eating like a lil kid. 139$ did NOT FEEL ANY VALUE AT ALL
Waitress spilled a drink on us, didnt care... offered us coffee... after ruining my wifes dress and my shirt.
Also couldnt figure out how to seperate the bill between 2 couples. Kept asking if we "just wanted it split in half".
Food was great but service left a lot.to be desired for an almost $300 dinner.
Although the service was great, we thought the cost was very expensive for what we got. We ordered the chocolate fondue and while it was tasty, there were very little items to dip into the chocolate. The cheese fondue was just okay, and again expensive for the items we got.
The floors in the restaurant were badly in need of a vacuum. Because the carpet is dark, everything shows up. There was junk everywhere. There appeared to be many servers, so I cannot believe it would be too difficult to use one of those sweeper things as people left.
We would not return again.
The only thing we were disappointed in was the fact we went with another couple and requested the big night out for each couple but we were only given one so there wasn't enough food for 4 people. We tried explaining but the waiter assured us we were getting enough for 4 but the table next to us had 2 people and the same amount of food. This was my 3rd visit and I definitely was disappointed since I had talked it up to my husband and friends who had never been.
