The Melting Pot - St Petersburg Ratings and Reviews
We had 3 birthdays to celebrate including a child, our waiters were fantastic in explaining how it all worked from the broths, the timing of the cooking to the amazing offerings of food. We all had so much fun. Overall our experience was awesome, we will definitely come back!
first time using opentable - was great!
first time at the melting pot - dining area was freezing - no heat - 55 degrees outside!
did not realize it would take almost 2 hours for the meal. got there at 5:30 and needed to leave by 7pm. we had theatre tickets so we had to rush the entree and dessert. the meat was taking longer to cook than server said. the dessert and cheese fondue were yummy. server was understanding and tried her best to get us out of there by 7pm. it would have been better if we did not have plans and if the room was warmer- had to wear our coats the entire time.
Took my husband here for Birthday celebration. Was a bit disappointed to see that some patrons chose to wear shorts and flip flops, whereas Melting Pot has always been more of an upscale restaurant. Appears the staff is aware of this so they sat us in a different area of the restaurant where we could enjoy the ambiance and have a romantic dinner.
However, the food was just the right amount and at a reasonable price. Our server was great-personable, knowledgeable and offered suggestions when we were unsure of what to order.
We would definitely recommend this location to others.
Tim was our waiter. He was prompt with drinks and each course we ordered. He was very attentive, knew the menu very well and was able to answer our questions about specific items.
The food was good, a lot of new ready made food items added to the menu for those that don’t like to cook their own, which is good for children.
Ambiance was good. We like the Melting Pot because it’s quiet and you can carry on a conversation easily.
We always have a good experience here.
The only negative is that it’s a little more pricey than I think it should be. But We only go to celebrate special occasions, and are willing to spend a little extra $$$ for that.
Our favorite place for special occasions. Our server, Ryan, was absolutely fantastic. The food was great and came exactly as we ordered it. Ryan was attentive, funny, and professional. This is a great restaurant, especially if you want to have a lazy, laid back meal that is delicious.
We celebrated my husband’s birthday here with our 2 adult children; basing our selection on previous reviews. We started in the bar area which was small but cozy. The hostess then sat us in front of the fireplace in a dining area. That’s when the fun subsided. The menu selections were confusing, at best. Our waitress explained the menu by asking us to choose an option from all four courses. We’re not big eaters and this resulted in wasted food. The food was ok, the best courses were the cheese and dessert fondue. Ambience was subpar for a special occasion.
Absolutely perfect evening with my girlfriend and my daughter before going to the Red and Green Pride event at Sunken Gardens. Server was fun and attentive without being overbearing. The food selection was amazing, and even though the three of us shared a "couples" dinner, we could not eat everything. Actually, we could have but there would have been no room for the dark chocolate fondue dessert!!
Great value for the experience!
We have been to this melting pot many times over the years. This time was not a good experience. Our waitress seemed very inexperienced, and the main meal was served extremely slow. The cheese was delicious and so was the chocolate. A couple of us are vegetarians, and ordered the veggie meal, it was horrible, the tofu was a weird consistency and there was something that looked like a meatball that was not edible. Also, it said they had edamame and onions but none were available. The manager did remove that portion of our dinner from our bill. The staff was nice, but the restaurant need a few tweaks. I don't highly recommend this but, we may give it another try.
Fun place to experience fondue, have been there several times before with friends who love cheese and chocolate. This particular time with a group of all girls from the ages of young teens to grandmas, the only thing with a group, there was 7 of us, you have to narrow the choices down to 2 as there are only 2 burners on the table. The service was great and the manager frequently stopped by to make sure we were enjoying everything. Most of us had the 3 course deal with cheese, salad and chocolate. in years past they served a descent size salad which made it a good 3 course meal, this time the salad was very small, a little side salad and we had to order more sides which was disappointing. I felt bad as I had told everyone how great the salads were and I was correct but only 2 bites. Not quite the deal it use to be but still a unique experience
The overall experience was wonderful. The waitress did pay quite a bit more attention to the party of 6 next to us than to us, and our cups stayed completely empty for upwards of twenty minutes. It also took a really long time to get our entree (just one) and the party of three in the next booth actually got their three separate entrees first. The food was wonderful but the service was a little bit lacking.
I am a regular, but this time was a little disappointed. Our server must have been new as she did not know much about the menu, brought us the wrong drinks and neglected to turn our table heater on, so our food did not cook, until the manager came and turned us on after we waited almost an hour for our meal. Never did get the seasoning I asked for twice, It got so late we skipped dessert and just went home. Very frustrating.
Celebrated our son's 15th birthday, we were fortunate enough to sit at a table that had 2 burners, so we got 2 different types of cheese fondues, 2 cooking methods, but stuck to our favorite chocolate fondue. The grill cooking method definitely takes longer, not my favorite, but was glad we were able to try it along with the traditional cooking method.
Quality food ingredients, small portions, particularly of the cheese fondu. Inattentive service, which probably relates only to our server. Mediocre wine selection at the typically high prices found in most restaurants.
The Fondu style of dining was complicated but fun -- for two. Although I recall the heyday of fondu for entertaining at home, I cannot imagine this working well for as many as four diners at a single table and fondu pot. For two it works well enough.
Very glad we went there nonetheless. We did enjoy it, though we will not return soon. Just too much competition from better restaurants in immediate area.
We had a great time! Manager called and confirmed our reservation. Since it was our anniversary; he asked if I had any special requests or if I was having flowers delivered. That was a nice touch and made it a special moment. Food and service was very good. We like the Melting pot very much. Always a good time!
Deanna was our server and she was incredibly knowledgeable about the menu and the way everything worked. I do wish some things were different though. We had thought about doing one of the main courses but after seeing the sides on the cheese fondue we decided not to try the entrees. We were both full after the wedge salad and cheese fondue though so they do give you quite a bit. We got the artichoke spinach cheese and it was super good but we got the rosemary fries and they were literally prefrozen fries with a dash of rosemary seasoning sprinkled on top haha. Everything seemed like it came out of a bag or can. The chips obviously were
walmart brand quality tortilla chips or the similar. Just a little disappointing to say the least. Ambience was cool and i like the fondue but i really dont like the idea of cooking my own steak for so much $$. We might try it again for the chocolate and see.
