The Melting Pot - St Petersburg Ratings and Reviews
Our server Samantha was Fantabulous!! she was helpful and very attentive without being a nuisance. She was a delight and now we know what a romulator is :) (although I fear I do not know how to spell it :) We came to celebrate Valentines and we were so glad we did. It was a little over an hour drive from Lakeland, but, yes it was worth it :)
Thank you for a lovely evening

Ordered a drink at the bar before being seated at our table. The bartender seemed to be new as he seemed to be struggling with the orders. I asked for Grey Goose...he poured something in a blue bottle...I asked if it was made with what I asked for ...assured me it was...he also had to look up how to make a lemon drop martini. It was awful! After being seated at our table we sent the drink back. The manager was making them rounds and I shared the facts about the drink with him. He never offer to refund the cost of the $10 martini. The food was good, the service was fair. Probably won’t be in a rush to visit anytime soon.
My server Ryan was so friendly and easy to chat with. His witty humor was greatly appreciated. The manager stopped by our table twice to check in on things, which was very reassuring. The food was simply amazing. It was my dates first time visiting the restaurant and she absolutely loved the experience of it all. We both had “The Classic” and it was delicious. Highly recommend it. We had some Love Martinis as well, since it was a late Valentines date. The atmosphere there still had love in the air. Thank you.
The food is always great and the service is always outstanding. On this last visit I was celebrating my husbands birthday. He was in North Carolina, and I was in St. Petersburg, and we were planning on sharing a dinner date via FaceTime. Horror of horrors, I couldn't connect to the internet! Our waitress and the manager went above and beyond to get me connected so we could enjoy our virtual date. They do offer free wifi, but you have to have a social media account, which I do not. It turned out to be a really fun time. The manager even came by to say hello to me and chatted with my husband on the iPad. Really really great experience. Thank you very much!
My husband and I have been visiting the St Petersburg Melting Pot for decades. It's a great place to spend a couple of hours having a meal. The dining concept is fun and there are many options to choose from. The staff is always polite, on-the-ball, and discrete. While we prefer to dine as a couple, we've visited with another couple, a small group, and we had my 40th birthday party here. Nice wine list and an extensive bar.
We have always loved the melting pot. Unfortunately, this past weekend was not the best experience. Everything took forever. First greeting, first drinks, refills, food. They brought the cooking style pot out and it had almost boiled away before we ever got our food to cook. The service was extremely slow. Pots were left too high of temperatures due to the lack of attendance to the table.
We have been to the melting pot several times, this was not one or our better visits. Our server seemed very scattered, the temp on the hot plate was not working correctly. Once our main course arrived we had to wait about 15 minutes for the oil to be hot enough to start cooking. At the beginning of the meal I handed the server a birthday certificate for chocolate covered strawberries, the server never brought them to us and in all the confusion at the end of the meal we forgot to ask her about them. We got halfway home and realized we didn't have the strawberries. My wife called the melting pot the next day to explain the situation and she had to go the next day to pick up the berries.
First visit, and extremely disappointed. That concept is not for everyone. They have in the menu only three plates prepared by the chef. We ordered short rib and chicken. Both plates served cold , from the fridge straight to the micro. Arrived to our table warm outside and extremely cold inside. The food to expensive for the quality they serve.
Went for my sons 18th birthday. Party of six was handled very well and was a nice experience. I like the pace of it all for conversation and relaxed dining. Lots of time for conversation and taking your time with friends and family. I also like the old house they are in. Very cozy.
Got seated a bit after 6pm. Party of 6. Check came at 10 pm. No exaggeration! We WAITED to get our order taken , we WAITED between every course, WAITED for dessert and WAITED for the check. We even WAITED just to get hot water for tea, like almost 10 minutes. Melting Pot is fun, our server was personable, we had a good family time... just didn’t intend so spend so much time! 4 hours for dinner?! Other tables moved along in half the time, which is STILL. a long time.
Bottom line: plan for this to be the only event of the evening.
We had 3 birthdays to celebrate including a child, our waiters were fantastic in explaining how it all worked from the broths, the timing of the cooking to the amazing offerings of food. We all had so much fun. Overall our experience was awesome, we will definitely come back!
first time using opentable - was great!
first time at the melting pot - dining area was freezing - no heat - 55 degrees outside!
did not realize it would take almost 2 hours for the meal. got there at 5:30 and needed to leave by 7pm. we had theatre tickets so we had to rush the entree and dessert. the meat was taking longer to cook than server said. the dessert and cheese fondue were yummy. server was understanding and tried her best to get us out of there by 7pm. it would have been better if we did not have plans and if the room was warmer- had to wear our coats the entire time.
Took my husband here for Birthday celebration. Was a bit disappointed to see that some patrons chose to wear shorts and flip flops, whereas Melting Pot has always been more of an upscale restaurant. Appears the staff is aware of this so they sat us in a different area of the restaurant where we could enjoy the ambiance and have a romantic dinner.
However, the food was just the right amount and at a reasonable price. Our server was great-personable, knowledgeable and offered suggestions when we were unsure of what to order.
We would definitely recommend this location to others.
Tim was our waiter. He was prompt with drinks and each course we ordered. He was very attentive, knew the menu very well and was able to answer our questions about specific items.
The food was good, a lot of new ready made food items added to the menu for those that don’t like to cook their own, which is good for children.
Ambiance was good. We like the Melting Pot because it’s quiet and you can carry on a conversation easily.
We always have a good experience here.
The only negative is that it’s a little more pricey than I think it should be. But We only go to celebrate special occasions, and are willing to spend a little extra $$$ for that.
Our favorite place for special occasions. Our server, Ryan, was absolutely fantastic. The food was great and came exactly as we ordered it. Ryan was attentive, funny, and professional. This is a great restaurant, especially if you want to have a lazy, laid back meal that is delicious.
We celebrated my husband’s birthday here with our 2 adult children; basing our selection on previous reviews. We started in the bar area which was small but cozy. The hostess then sat us in front of the fireplace in a dining area. That’s when the fun subsided. The menu selections were confusing, at best. Our waitress explained the menu by asking us to choose an option from all four courses. We’re not big eaters and this resulted in wasted food. The food was ok, the best courses were the cheese and dessert fondue. Ambience was subpar for a special occasion.
Absolutely perfect evening with my girlfriend and my daughter before going to the Red and Green Pride event at Sunken Gardens. Server was fun and attentive without being overbearing. The food selection was amazing, and even though the three of us shared a "couples" dinner, we could not eat everything. Actually, we could have but there would have been no room for the dark chocolate fondue dessert!!
Great value for the experience!
