The Melting Pot - Seattle Ratings and Reviews
When we first arrived there we were very excited. We have been there 3 times before and it’s our favorite restaurant. We were informed after we sat that we couldn’t share because it was valentines, we were okay with this because it’s a special day. Then when the cheese fondue came we found out that our silverware was all dirty. A couple minutes later our service came back and asked how it was going we told him the silverware was dirty so he grabbed it quickly and went to go get us new ones. He returned about 5 minutes later with new silverware and said he checked it to make sure it was clean. I opened mine up and saw that there was chocolate all over one of the pokers. I put it aside and he replaced it. When the meat came we were very excited, it’s our favorite part and right when we started eating there was a long black hair in the seasoning of the beef. This made us not want to eat anything. When our waiter returned we told him about the hair and he took the plate and said I’ll have the cooks make you a new one. He didn’t even say sorry. About 10 minutes later he returned with new meat. We cautiously ate it because we were scared about another hair. We really didn’t feel like eating after this and we wanted to leave. Then, he offered to get me more veggies and he didn’t return with more for a half hour so I was full and didn’t want them anymore. When he brought the chocolate fondue he didn’t realize till after he mixed all the chocolate that our pokers were dirty again. He didn’t return with new pokers for about 10 minutes. As the meal came to an end we received our bill and to our surprise we were still charged full priced even though we had so many problems throughout the meal. This dinner was very upsetting and we will not be returning to the melting pot anytime soon.
We have celebrated our anniversary at The Melting Pot for several years now, however, we will go elsewhere next year. We arrived about 20 minutes early so we decided to grab a drink and wait in the bar. The hostess stopped us and told us that the bar was full. There were only 3 people seated at the bar, there were people at tables in the bar, so I told her the barstools at the bar where there were only 3 people would be fine, but she still refused to let us in. So we had to stand in front of the door and wait. Moving out of the way of people coming in, it was not comfortable. Another couple gave up and left to go to the bar down the road. Then, when we were finally seated, the table was awful. It was a booth divided by a wall so we couldn't even sit across from each other. Also, the seats were so warn, that we were sitting in the wood frame. Very uncomfortable! I asked to be moved and was told that there were no other tables. Yet, when I went to the restroom several sections had open tables. I told the waitress that I had booked over two weeks in advance and I wondered why we got such a bad table. She said that we would have had to ask for a booth in the comments if the reservation if we wanted a regular table. Then, the service was very slow. Our waitress was great, but you could tell that they were short staffed because it took her awhile to come back around. If we needed anything, it was a wait. The food was great, when we finally got it. I'm just bummed that we picked The Melting Pot for our celebration. Maybe it was just a bad night for them, but we will pick a different place next time.
During our visit, our pot got stuck to the burner. Rather than just move us to a new table, the restaurant spent 30 minutes + trying to get it off. We ran out of time to eat our meal slowly and for dessert. Rather than comp us anything, we got a voucher to return for chocolate dessert. They were nice about it, but I feel this really could have been handled differently. I paid $88 to rush through a meal that was mediocre at best and we couldn't even enjoy the meal which is the entire purpose for going to the melting pot in the first place. :(
The food was good. Our server was courteous and knowledgeable.
However, I won't be returning. After dishing out $200 for two people, you expect to leave with a smile on your face. But the wait between courses was excruciating. From start to finish, we were in the restaurant for 3-1/2 hours.
Hire more staff.
Went for my boyfriends birthday with a couple friends. We were seated in a section where ALL the overhead lights were flickering and going out. It was so bad we had to ask if we could move to a table where the light had just gone out. We were still in the same section, though so all the lights were flickering around us and we had to listen to everyone else in that section complaining. The manager gave us (and everyone in our section) each a small glass of champagne as a consolation, and comped a drink, but we all left with headaches anyway. Food took an awful long time to be addressed, considering there were only 2 other small parties in our section (like 2 people each). The place was overall empty. Our server was a nice guy, but messed up our order twice and didn't remember things we had ordered (I.e we ordered the additional dessert option plate for $7.95/ea and he didn't bring it to us until we were OUT of chocolate. I wish he hadn't even brought it out at that point). Overall the experience for my significant others birthday were not the best, in hindsight I should have made my reservations for the Bellevue location.
I love the Melting Pot and this was my first time visiting the one in Seattle. Love the location! Our waiter was just a tad slow to bring our food to us. He seemed more involved in the table next to us that my daughter and I. Luckily we had no where to be so the slowness wasn't a huge deal.
Table was dirty, service was sparse, I had to constantly ask for drinks, as first timers we were confused on what to do, seemed like they were short staffed bc we were constantly waiting for the next course (I hunted down another staff member for our check), $180 for three people (no drinks). I don’t mind paying for good food, but I expect far better service than what we recieved.
Our evening at The Melting Pot was above & beyond expectation. My boyfriend and I went to celebrate my birthday. The night was lovely. We started with drinks at the bar and then were seated at a quiet, intimate table. The food was outstanding. The cheese course & dessert course are both phenomenal, and of course the main course is delicious as well. Blake, the manager, really exceeded our expectations and made our night wonderful. The volume & atmosphere are perfect for a romantic dinner. I can't wait to get back to The Melting Pot.
Had a great time with my friends! We were served delicious cheese fondue and had bread, veggie, and apple dippers (my personal favorite). For the chocolate part, we had the Rocky road (highly recommend dark chocolate, pairs well with sweet food) with lots of fruit and sweet treats! It might seem like you wouldn't be full off dippers, but you will. I would definitely fonDO this again!
Management is really terrible. We arrived 30 minutes early for our 6pm reservation. I asked the hostess if we could get in a little early as we had a show at Key Arena at 8pm. The manager came over, they went thru the evenings reservations in front of me, there were 3 separate 'no shows' for 5pm so clearly they could take us early. The manager looked up and said, sorry, we will be able to seat you at your assigned reservation time 6pm. OK. so we waited. Our server was very kind, when asked if he could help us finish up by 7:30 he said that we would have to skip dessert. As I was with my 17yr old son, there was no way we would skip dessert. So I skipped the salad course (still paid full price). I can now see why they could not move us along, the waiter had NO HELP at all. Other staff walked by with water pitchers but never filled my empty glass. Our server had several tables and was incredibly busy, too busy. Also, it was clear that our server was ill, he was very pale and excused himself to cough (in his elbow, which was nice, but he was SICK and should not have had to work). We did not get out until 745pm, when the bill came a 20% gratuity was already included, which is fine except that they had a line for additional tip and the suggested rates printed on the receipt was very confusing ... clearly if one does not pay attention they would tip 40%+ without even noticing. The kind waiter did give us a certificate for an additional dessert to use in the future (compensates for the salad we paid for I guess). My kind son decided to personally slip the waiter $20 cash (in addition to the already included 20% gratuity). I feel so badly for this waiter, quite confident that he likely would not get tipped much from others that evening, and the management did NOTHING to help him out. We went there as a very special mom/son night out. Ended up being $180 lesson learned.
Every time we're here, the servers we get are absolutely top tier. They include our son without blinking, they make jokes, explain when we look puzzled and are the absolute best at knowing exactly what they're giving us and recommending alternatives when it's something we can't have due to dietary restrictions. We continually come back to the Seattle location year after year due to the fact that they make us feel right at home, the food is fresh and delicious and the employees are great. Time and time again we walk out telling ourselves we're glad we found a place we don't regret spending money at.
We came here for our anniversary and had a really nice time. The service was pretty slow and we didn’t get something we ordered, but our server was friendly and we loved having a little booth to ourselves. There was one server who kept singing REALLY loudly and I found it super annoying...but that’s just me, haha.
Me and my boyfriend went on New Year’s Day to celebrate our anniversary. Since our anniversary is on a holiday it can be hard to go out and celebrate our anniversary on the date since most places are busy and loud with people celebrating but the melting pot had a good noise level and made the night enjoyable. The restaurant wasn’t packed and was a very good atmosphere. We had a 6PM reservation and arrived 20 minutes early due to other reviews saying it took 10-15 minutes for seating. When we arrived they said they would seat us closer to our time which was completely fine but they ended up seating us 15 minutes early. The manager took us to our seat and told us his name in case we had any problems and told us who our waiter would be. He also came around later in the night to check on us again to make sure we were still doing good.
Our waiter Aleki was amazing. As soon as he arrived he congratulated us on our anniversary and then asked us if we had ever been there before, which we hadn’t, and ran through the menu with us. When we ordered I informed him that I am allergic to onions, which is a very uncommon allergy, and he was very thorough to go through everything we ordered to make sure nothing I ate had onions and when he brought out the meat sauces he moved the Green Goddess sauce to my boyfriends side of the table and made sure I heard him say that it had onions. When dessert came he brought us each out a chocolate covered strawberry as an anniversary gift. He made sure to come around often to make sure we weren’t waiting on him for one of our courses and to make sure we were still doing good.
We got the four course meal which included 1 salad for each of us, 1 pot of cheese fondue, 1 entree for each of us with a shared cooking pot and 6 dipping sauces, and 1 chocolate fondue pot. And we each got a non-spirit drink and our total bill was $127. If you’ve never been there before the entree price is the total price for the 4 course meal which is confusing.
We have dined here 4 times, we always set a reservation. 2 of the 4 times we were sat then forgotten about. We are done going to the melting pot, absolute worst service I’ve ever experienced. This last visit we were sat immediately and then we were not acknowledged for 30 minutes, this was our final visit to the melting pot.
We had to have all of our silverware changed out at least twice bc there was food stuck on them. Several of our plates also had stuck on food. I was over having to hear my coworker complain about the quality of the silverware to the point where it ruined my experience and this is my favorite restaurant. I typically go to Bellevue but Seattle was closer at the time.
The food is always fresh and well portioned. Likely won't need a second round of veggies even if you think you do. You would think that the cost of the meals would keep the families with crying children and uncouth loudmouths at the Denny's, but nope, they'll be sat right next to you. Not MP's problem, just an uptight Seattleites..
Service was slow and although we had four people and wanted to try different things, they refused to seat us at a table with two pots, resulting in all four of us needing to want to eat the same appetizer, entree, and dessert. For a $250 meal for four people I expected better service.
My wife and I went to The Melting Pot for the first time for our anniversary. I wish we tried the Bellevue one, because the parking /valet was a nightmare. Made it a stressful start to our romantic night. Our server was great, the food was yummy. However, upstairs where we sat, was not the cleanest. I was a little grossed out by the lack of cleanliness.
We love going to the Melting Pot! We wish we could go more but it is too pricey for us to go except for special occasions. We pick the $50 4 course dinner and split it between the 2 of us which is enough food for us as we are not big eaters. It is always soooooo good !!!! I find the service hit or miss but when we went this last time our server was great.
I can't wait to go again !!
I personally have never had such a lousy time at a supposedly high end restaurant. Was extremely excited and maybe a little naive as far as fondue goes but........ if you have a decent staff it would be an exciting exercise in trying new things.
I was expecting a very quiet, romantic atmosphere and what we got was an aging Denny's.
1. After being seated we ordered our first course of the cheese fondue and our drinks.
2. 10 minutes to receive the fondue pot, 5 more minutes to add the ingredients and another 5 or so minutes to have it cook down to start using our little forks. All in all the fondue was decent. Could probably have been more flavorful oh and while waiting the waiter stood there and said I can put in your order your entree right now. Tried to ask questions and received minimal answers to those questions.
3. 20 minutes after receiving the fondue our drinks finally arrived. luckily we were served water so I didn't choke to death on the food.
4. 30 minutes waiting for the main course, no waiter in sight.
5. Main Course shows up and we had ordered the big night out so it included several choices of Shrimp, Lobster, Chicken, Teriyaki Beef and Filet Mignon Florentine. Mind you these ingredients are raw and require cooking and were all spread out on one platter no effort to separate them from each other. Ever heard of cross contamination? Left half of the ingredients on the platter they were the worst ever. Seasoning way over the top on some, nothing on others?
5. Approximately 20 minutes later still haven't seen the waiter , plates pushed to the end of the table still no waiter At this point we just want to get to the chocolate fondue and get the hell out of there.
6. Chocolate fondue was decent, that's all I can say about that other than I will never, ever go to this restaurant again.
7. ALL IN: 2 HRS AND 45 MINUTES. NOT RECOMMENDED FOR A FIRST DATE TAKES SO LONG YOUR SILENT PAUSE MAY BECOME VERY AWKWARD.
The food was tasty but the service was a hot mess! Our server seemed unsure of himself and did not know that our order included a coffee or glass of wine. Then he couldn’t find someone who knew how to use the espresso machine for quite a while. There was far too much time between courses -it took 3 hours to get through dinner! We planned on 2 hours and had to call our sitter and apologize for being super late as we rushed through dessert. We really didn’t get to enjoy the chocolate fondue because we were frustrated and stressed at how slow the service was and at how late we were going to be arriving home. We wanted one of the cozy tables upstairs that is very private and secluded but ended up downstairs next to a table with someone who had a wet cough and another who had a person staring at us. Not romantic! I should have specified about the table. Good food but nothing special and ridiculously slow service. Lastly, the restaurant wasn’t full at all but we waited about 10-15 minutes to be seated even though we had a reservation and were a few minutes early. Plus, we waited another 10-15 to order a beverage. Normally (in a good restaurant) a waiter will offer water and/or take drink orders within a few minutes of being seated.
It's been years since I've been to this restaurant, but I was very disappointed starting with the service I received from the time I walked through the door, the hostess was rude. Our server was great, just slow and not always on top of things. The food was so so. Our appys were not fresh (day old bread etc...) our salads turning brown, main course & dessert were fine. I was overall disappointed and not sure i'll be back. It's such a fun experience and we introduced our kids to it for the first time before hitting a show in Seattle. I hope the hostess "moves on". She was NOT a good representation of this establishment.
The menu is a bit confusing for a large group and the waiter was not extremely helpful with this. Also the front of house staff claimed our reservation was for one less person than it was, despite me having my confirmation email. So there was quite a wait for them to get a table ready for us. This was disappointing since I had planned this dinner over a month in advance as a special surprise for my family and because we were on a time crunch to make it to the Nutcracker after dinner. The food was good and the experience of cooking in fondue was unique.
