Our table was too small for our party. Our food took a very long time to arrive even though we were the ones cooking it. The value for the price vs what you get was laughable. Everyone left hungry and we would’ve gotten dessert if the food hadn’t taken so long to get there. The stove made it so we were all constantly hot. My brother broke out in hives so we had to leave as soon as we could. It was my moms birthday so there was a free dessert but we passed so we could leave. All in all it was a pretty terrible experience and I would not go again unless I had to.
The food was good, although the premium meat was tough. And the prices were exorbitant. The actual activity was very fun.
Delicious and you will go home stuffed. Great gluten free options
You are definitely paying for the experience
Only went during restaurant week. Cheese course and dessert course were as expected and good.
The other courses, salad and main coq au vin, were ok.
Would not pay full price, but I guess it’s the experience.
I’d go back for dessert or for the cheese fondue.
Server was nice. Had to switch tables because the burners wouldn’t work… It was with a 10-year-old for her birthday and the meal took about 3 1/2 hours which is just too long
It is overpriced, outdated, dull ambience, would not recommend.
It has been years since we came here. We went for the obvious: fondue. Then I remembered why it has been years. This place is way too expensive for what it offers. The cheese fondue was good but cold, the Caesar salad was absurdly small for the price and didn't taste like Caesar not to mention the left over nuts from another sale offering. The menu was confusing and ungodly expensive. Find something else.
This is a wonderful place to eat if you desire to have an extended time of conversation! Very nice for special occasions!
I have been to the Melting Pot several times but the most recent was just kinda meh...We came with 8 people for my son's 18th birthday on a Sunday night. While we were seated right away we didn't see our server for at least 10 minutes. He was super polite and even a bit funny, we just didn't see him very often. There was a lot of time in between courses, making our 7pm dinner go all the way until 10pm. Also the table we were seated at he had to keep reaching under the table to turn on or off the burners, my son's girlfriend had to continually get up so he could adjust the cooktop, it was very awkward. Our drinks took a good 10-15 minutes to get after ordering even the restaurant was almost empty. The food is always super tasty, just completely overpriced. I am sure we'll go back at some point, I just left feeling like it wasn't the celebratory dinner I had envisioned.
it's the overall experience! cheese, meat and dessert courses with a salad if you want it. I went with my girls and they had a good time. Fun interactive dinner - but plan for at least 2 hours.
The only thing I have to complain about is that the floors desperately needed to be vacuumed and the bathrooms needed to be checked on for cleanliness.
We had a wonderful time at The Melting Pot. Both of us were inexperienced at fondue. Our server was excellent at giving us tips on how to order and cook our food. And the food was fantastic. The only negative (very slight) was the decor is somewhat dated.
Very slooooow to order, to get drinks, to get food, etc.
Very expensive, especially for kids ($16! Only includes meat). Salads used to be great, now just average. Have to pay $1 to get your mule in the right kind of mug?? Even after a 20% passport discount, dinner for two kids and two adults (kids split a plate) was $230. Interesting experience but certainly not worth that much cash. I don’t think we’ll be going back.
The dinner was for my daughter's 18th Birthday. The staff were aware ahead of time and they were so kind and generous to that. Our waiter was amazing, and we had a really great time! The cost is a little spendy, but it was worth it.
My daughter and I visited the Melting Pot and they were bustling due a concert nearby that night. We started off with the Alpine Fondue which was fantastic. We also had a salad. We next chose three meats to cook bourguignon style. Everything tasted so good. Our server Kalyani made sure our evening and meal was a great experience. We'll be back!
Awful service, the waiter who was assigned to us (reservation under Maria B. August 28th at 6:30 pm)just didn’t care, even after he made numerous mistakes, he didn’t make an effort to do better. We sat for around 30 min waiting for someone to come to us, we got seated and were ignored for a long time with no one greeting us or asking to order drinks or even bring us water. It’s as if he forgot he had a table. When he finally came to serve us, he forgot drinks. He forgot to bring melted cheese out with the snacks. He brought our entrees out and forgot the sauces and to tell us cooking times. We were almost done with our entrees by the time he actually brought out the sauces and I reminded him to tell us cooking times. When we reminded him about the sauce, we waited forever for him to finally bring it. People from our party had to get up numerous times to go find a server ourselves or ask another sever to remind our server of something. The melting pot Seattle was one of my favorite places to eat but after that experience, I will not be going there anymore. If I have to go there, I wouldn’t want to eat if we had to deal with that same server. He seemed new, but common sense things he forgot were just ridiculous; I could’ve done a better job. He made excuses when we told him he forgot something. Yes, we all have to multitask, him juggling multiple tables is no excuse for poor service. I have tons of projects going on at once at my job and am still expected to perform all of them well. This was supposed to be a special dinner, as my parents flew in from out of state for my wedding, and he just ruined it and ruined our night. People in our group were very upset about the whole experience and you guys expect an 18% tip on top of that? Our server didn’t earn even 2% tip. People in our group had to go to work the next day and because the server kept forgetting to bring stuff and forgetting to serve us, we stayed a lot later than we should have and got like no sleep.
Jacob is an extremely capable and friendly waiter. fast service, friendly staff, delicious food. great place
So driving down from Vancouver to Seattle to drop someone at the airport we had heard about the Melting Pot. We are cheese lovers and thought what better place to have dinner, cheese, steak, etc. Made a reservation for 5 people at the Seattle Location. Staff were very friendly and courteous.
The waiter explained how it all works but after 15 minutes we still had no idea what was about to happen. We ordered two cheese fondues. You have two burners on the table and he made the fondue for us.
Basically they bring you the following to dip into the cheese: Stale bread, carrots, raw potatoes, cherry tomatoes and celery. 5 people ate the fondue in two minutes and had to fish out the still raw potatoes that fell off the fork.
Then came the main course, the waiter told us that the portions were big enough to share!! We ordered two three course meals. One with steak, chicken and shrimp. The other duck, pork and chicken. What a joke, literally four tiny pieces of steak, four shrimp and three pieces of chicken for $31.00 US. And the best part they are all RAW and you have to again cook them yourself in new pots filled with some kind of soup already made in the kitchen. But don't worry the waiter tells you to make sure you cook it well or you can get sick from raw meats
What a joke five people ate in ten minutes and we were still starving at the end. We declined the chocolate fondue as I am sure it was maybe a Hershey Kiss per person.
This place is a joke and a rip-off. If I need to cook myself I rather stay home.
Only good thing is that there is a great supermarket across the street where they have good sandwiches and dessert that we had to buy after dinner
My daughter and I had wanted to try the Melting Pot for several years. We were having a special night out, just the two of us. The food was very good; although more money than I would normally spend. I appreciated the fact that the restaurant has a good gluten-free menu. In fact most of the items on the menu were gluten-free and hints were provided about how to make the meal gluten-free if ingredients were not gluten-free. The most outstanding part of the meal was the excellent service we received. My daughter and I had a lovely time and I would go back again.
Service by our waiter Jason was terrible we had to ask for drink refills water refills and had to ask to have all our dishes cleared when we were clearly done. He was almost just uninterested in being there. Our bus boy was awsome I believe it was his first day very polite and super interactive at the right level, I believe his name was Dovonte.
Service was just so slow. It was exhausting.
I don't think it is fair to the customer to be charged a surcharge fee. How can I say, as a customer, the original price was previously modified, or not, due to the reasons for the surcharge fee and we are not being charged twice? I will just think twice too if I should return to this place or not.
The melting pot in Seattle is outdated and has a weird smell when you arrive at the restaurant. The cheese and chocolate fondue was overdone with alcohol and you couldn't really taste the cheese/chocolate. The price was definitely too high for the quality of food you get.
This has always been one of our favorite restaurants but unfortunately it looks like the staff is having issues. First we were ignored but most staff members and once we complained someone took our order. It appeared that they staff may have some problems with each other or are competing or have a bad manager but they are certainly not happy and not performing well. Our waiter kept forgetting us so each course came only after we reminded and went looking for him. We even had to get up and find him to get the bill at the end of the meal after an unreasonable wait. I hope they get better soon.
This was a very fun experience. Expensive but fun.
Server was condescending and rude, was bothered by any questions we had.
Food was delicious but WAY overpriced.
Drinks and bartenders were great.
In short, the worsts dining experience of my life.
Awesome food, we had a great server who made our meal fun. This location it's a little more pricey then other melting pots when we have eaten but otherwise it was the perfect meal
Service was amazing! Their draft beer tap was down which was unfortunate, but besides that everything was great! Excellent waiter and food!
Had a terrible dining experience here when I brought a party of 10 for my daughter's birthday. The service was incredibly slow and our server seemed confused and disoriented. He informed us at the beginning of the cheese course that some of our burners were not in service but he could not move us to another table, even though the restaurant was nearly empty, because the burners at all of the large tables were broken. One of our guests was able to "fix" them when he determined they simply were not plugged in. When our main course arrived the orders were incorrect; things we ordered contained the wrong items and additional entrees that we did not order were brought to our table. It took 20 minutes to bring the additional correct items and 30 minutes to bring a second bottle of wine. At that point I did speak to a supervisor and the speed of service improved slightly. The food is mediocre at best, overpriced and the service is horrible. When they brought the bill a small discount was given. I asked the supervisor if, under the circumstances, she could give us 30% off. She called her manager and they declined to do so. It is a shame because this used to be a fun place to go for special occasions but it has declined to a point where we will never return. So many other great restaurants in Seattle, don't waste your time or money here!
We've never had a bad experience at The Melting Pot. Everyone was friendly and helpful. We all thought the cheese fondue was superb. The main course was great as well. Especially the filet mignon and coconut curry shrimp.
I've been once before in TX and loved it so i brought 3 new friends there who hadn't tried it before. we waited at the bar for our reservation and our drinks took a bit of time but where delicious! Once we got to the table the waiter came by and told us that our server just quit so he would be taking care of us and would be back shortly. He was understandably stressed and frustrated but kept talking about it every time he came to the table which seemed a little unprofessional. He was very kind but it took almost an hour before we had our cheese and when we got it, something was wrong. it was very bitter and nobody at the table could eat it. They were very kind and brought us another. the dinner was very tasty but due to the long wait and bad experience my friends didn't even want to go for dessert, which is generally the best part! I was so sad to pay that kind of money and leave with a group of disappointed girls. I would still give it another chance though.
The food was good. The price was way higher than the quality would have dictated. Way too expensive for the casual attending.
It was amazing! The waitress was fantastic and the food was yummy!
The food was good, but not great. The selecion of breads and vegetables for the cheese dip were bland/boring, but the salads were good. The potatoes that accompanied our main course were cut into such large chunks they weren't cooked until we were all done eating, and there was very little broccoli to go around. Dessert was good. Service was stilted and did not have a good flow. The table was crusty/dirty even though we got there very early and clearly no one had been sitting there that day- it must have not been cleaned well the previous evening. Overall the price did not match the experience- that's really what you're supposed to be paying for, a fun fondue experience- but they did not come through. We won't be back.
Wonderful! Quiet enough to actually be able to talk and hear the others at the table. Not rushed!
amazing food and service.
A really pleasant experience for my wife's birthday. We arrived with a Groupon and enjoyed a Strawberry salad each, a very good Cheese fondue (Alpine), and a pick 3 meat and shrimp fondue selection each cooked with vegetables in a wine enhanced broth. our server Jacob was great throughout and the only slight issue was a couple of girls in the lower part of the restaurant utilizing their phones to the full from speaking on them, to trying to take pictures of each other with an ever unsettled little boy. He cried and shouted as at 9/9.30pm was tired and restless poor lad. Nevertheless the food, the service, and the setting was great and we had a really nice time. We'll be back
We had excellent service and pretty great food, but the Melting Pot is just not cutting it compared to other Seattle restaurants anymore. Dingy building (Mercer st) and way overpriced. $110 per person can get multiple meals with better ambiance elsewhere. I'm happy to come back if the person I'm with gets joy out of it, but I think these stuff upper class restaurants are a dying breed in this town.
