The Melting Pot - Savannah Ratings and Reviews
New Year's Eve dinner - set menu but they were out of chicken so they substituted with bland ravioli. Not a fair substitution. Server told us they usually they provide more options on the dessert fondue tray, but they were out of several items. How can you have a pre-set menu but not plan for the # of customers who have booked reservations. Mandatory 20% gratuity and we had less than average service. First time at this Melting Pot. Probably the last time.
The ambiance at The Melting Pot is perfect for a couple or small group. The wait staff was attentive and knowledgeable. The food was good and it was nice to have an un-rushed meal. We would go again, but would pass on the 4 course part. It was a lot of food!
My children and I took my husband out for his birthday. Although we’ve been here before, thought we’d try it again & it just wasn’t worth the money we spent. The food lacked quality and left us feeling hungry when we left. The service wasn’t good at all as the waitress was young & didn’t truly appear interested in providing a pleasant experience. She wasn’t helpful or attentive, left us sitting with each course way too long without checking on us. We almost missed our other reservation for a show and was unable to get the desert we paid for. The manager had to provide us with a desert card for another time. We more than likely will not return to this restaurant again.
The food was amazing and the environment was appealing. A comfortable place to eat. I dined in with my girlfriend for her birthday and we had a great time. We sat in front of a t-section so we heard "Corner" and "Corner Hot" frequently. The experience would have been nicer if we hadn't been sat there, but it was amusing making jokes about it. Especially those who forgot to say "Corner." Our waitress was good but busy, she didn't visit as much as I would have enjoyed but she did make her presence known, so it was just enough for me to be happy. The only thing I didn't like was the absence of a special dish or singing for my girlfriends birthday. Whenever I've made reservations for a birthday at any restaurant, there is almost always a special dish or even quiet singing. I did enjoy the experience with my girlfriend and I absolutely plan to return.
P.S. Add some small birthday entertainment. It's fondue, you can come up with something.
Too many things to list. Inadequate staff, pompous, clueless manager, filthy tables, and over priced. If I'm going to spend $75/head to cook my own food, the experience better be stellar. Mine was far from it, I've received better service at a 24hr McDonalds at 2am. I will not be back. I was given a gift card to entice us to return...thinking of regifting to someone I dislike. Hundreds of choices in Savannah. Do yourself a favor and skip this one!
Although I understand this experience takes time, nearly 3 hours was an extremely long time. Most of our time was not spent cooking and enjoying food- it was waiting between courses. Our server blamed it on the kitchen- but the tables next to us with different servers didn’t seem to have that problem. My less than enthused husband, who was such a good sport to take me to this restaurant to fulfill my birthday wish and not his, was even more unimpressed at the end of the night.
Would NEVER recommend this place to anyone. The wait was ridiculous, the process is painfully long to cook and truly enjoy your food. I dine out a lot and love to try new things but this place I was not feeling. And the pricing for the food is ridiculous being that your cooking it yourself.
