The Melting Pot - San Antonio
Great service and food!
We went for a ladies night out so we had a large party of 9 and we got to sit off in an area by ourselves which was great. Despite a large party not one of our orders was messed up! We had two gluten free people and our waiter was great about knowing what items contained gluten. We also had two newbies so he explained everything so well.
Cheap ingredients and too-large portions: this is a blast from the past, from those pre-foodie days when no one cared about quality food and chain restaurants were in. With decor from the 90s including no natural light (the shades are drawn to keep it out!), the menu consists of highly processed foods shipped in on a truck, with nothing made in house —jarred garlic, cheap canola oil, and preservative-laden, store-bought baked goods and dressings. Our kids find it fun, so we come for them (as rarely as possible ) and the servers are nice.
Great service and meal. They really helped make my wife’s birthday dinner a special occasion.
Love the food! Love the service! We had a wonderful time on Mother's Day.
The food was fine but the service could have been better. The waiter at the next table provided much more information, engaged with the guests, and was significantly better than our waiter. Just shows how the waiter can make a difference on the dining experience.
Our server was very helpful even though we have been here several times. Drinks and food were outstanding. Celebrating mother's day
Just not my cup of tea. Enjoyed the experience. Staff was friendly. It took long after the entre to get our desert.
Everything was ok but once everything was served the waitress forgot about us....
We had a great time as a family celebrating Mother’s Day!
Great service and food as always. We will be back soon
My wife and I had a fantastic time. The food was wonderful and our server was great!
This is the perfect place for a special occasion dinner. It's also great for girls night out.
Came for a friends birthday, had a table of 8, everything went surprisingly smooth while ordering and cooking for that many people
We chose the Melting Pot for a Mother's Day celebration as my daughters mother has been wanting to check this place out for years. Best decision I've made in quite some time. We were seated promptly, server was happy to answer questions and offer suggestions as we were newbies, and the evening went down without a hitch. All the courses were delicious. Atmosphere was excellent and my 12 year old daughter and her mother had a blast. Best dining experience we've had in a long time. Can't wait to go back!
Delicious as always, definitely recommend the three or four course. Must do the chocolate fondue! Had the best waiter last time!
The menu itself is very confusing to read. We weren’t exactly sure what we were ordering. Our server was the best! He took the time to explain how things works and how to make the meal. Definitely a do again just wish the menu was more understandable.
The best place in town to get fondue...I find the restaurant a bit dark, but generally consistent service and excellent fondue.
I love the melting pot, having been many times. However, this 3 hours saga was not melting pot at its finest. We liked the waiter, but we didn't get our appetizer til almost an hour in. Had my first bite of the main course at two hours in. And left the restaurant just a few mins shy of three hours. I found it funny that I went to the restroom just after our cheese fondue appetizer and the noticed the 3 person family (like ours), that arrived just after us, was on it dessert course. Was my daughters bday but nothing happened other than the waiter wishing her happy birthday with the bill. Which was almost $300 for 3 people.
My favorite place to celebrate my birthday. Wonderful service, food and ambiance.
The small touch of a birthday card for my wife was nice. I really appreciated the military discount too.
Cute place, good for like 2 people, maximum 4...food is good though and the staff are friendly.
Excellent food and service. Perfect for a romantic evening.
Our server was great very nice and attentive so my husband and I just wanted to try the experience..honestly we were over it like why pay so much money when you cook your own food and then your waiting so long to cook a few pieces of meat...just not into the idea maybe for others but wouldn't recommend it..you will spend atleast 2 hrs there which is fine for us...the appetizer and dessert was delicious next time will celebrate our anniversary else where though.
Perfect night. Took my sister for her bday dinner and everyone was great. Our waitress was the absolute best
This was very romantic place and so interactive and fun.
Went here for a birthday dinner. It was our first time and we were all looking forward to a nice relaxing dinner. However, we didn't know that you had to cook your entrée, which ended up being troublesome and frustrating. We are not cooks and thus, our food came out terrible. We left the items in for the recommended times, yet they always came out undercooked. We finally ate undercooked broccoli & potatoes because we just wanted to get on to the meats. And the meats are just boiled so they didn't taste very good either. I wish we had been offered the chargrilled option. Overall, our meal was not worth what we paid, especially considering that we did most of the work.
Cheese fondue: It was just OK. At $9 per person, I was expecting the spread of veggie dippers to be better, but it was only celery, carrots and grape tomatoes. Would've liked to have seen cauliflower, broccoli, zucchini.
Entrée: As stated above, none of the five of us really loved it. It was passable at best.
Dessert: The only good part of the experience.
Service was great. When we arrived the place seemed empty but as they took us to our table it was actually full. Food was really good and it was an experience to cook it yourself.
Always a good time whether celebrating a special occasion or just a simple night on the town.
Hard to beat the food. Staff was great. Just wish it was a bit more affordable so could enjoy more often.
My kids love coming here and we had a great dinner. Our server was great but I have to complain about the host stand. When we walked in, 3 people standing. Only one says hello and the other seem lost on what to do. No biggie but what really disappointed me was when walking out the tall big guy with glasses who sat us and a perhaps a server with heavy eye make up said nothing. No thank you or have a good night. Even after I said to them thank you was not acknowledged. Even an another couple walking out at same time that I held door for did the host stand acknowledge we were there. Very disappointed for a place that is not your typical restaurant. You charge a high price for your food and I expect a high level of service. Again, waiter was great. Food was great. Host stand, the face of your restaurant was not.
Great evening out!
Melting Pot has a one of a kind experience.
The food is overpriced for the amount that was given, you also have to cook your own food as well.
You can customize your table with an array of decorative ranging from $12-$100
The concept behind it is fun, but it took us over 3 hours to get through dinner and that’s only after we asked to have our final course brought to us. It shouldn’t take over three hours with close to 30 minutes of us waiting for the next course to arrive which is hard when you have children. Also when you have a large group one griddle for four people waiting to cook their food takes a long time. I don’t think I’d go back but to try it out is good.
We had a great meal, and it's always a lot of fun. This visit though, our service was VERY, VERY slow. Our server did not arrive to our table for 20 minutes. We had a reservation at 6:15pm, and we were not sat until nearly 6:30. We had no drinks on the table until 7:08pm. This continued throughout the meal, and with our 6:15pm reservation for 5, we did not walk out until after 9:15pm. A prior visit was much shorter, granted we only had a reservation for 2, we still did not expect it to take over 3 hours from start to finish. Other than that - the experience was great, and we would definitely give it another try.
We went for my daughter's birthday and we had a great experience. Good place for a special occasion.
It’s not a cheap dinner, but very fun and you can make it a whole evening out.
Perfect date place .. one of the top 10 restaurants I’ve ever experienced! GOOOO!!
Pros: Great ambiance, excellent service, different style of dining that made for a great experience. Fondue was delicious
Cons: you cook your own food. And it's up to you to prepare how you like it. You basically cook everything in oil.
