The Melting Pot Ratings and Reviews
Our experience with food was great but waitress didn’t really helped us with the kids menu. We told one kid entree and told her to make it combo. When we received the bill it was one kid entree and she had two kids combo. Kids ages were 6 and 3year old. We told her we needed help with kids menu.
Beyond disappointed!!! As it was my idea for my friend and her daughter to meet my son and I here. It was all of our first times eating here also.we told the hostess ,the young lady who brought us drinks ,and the I assume to be the manger on duty and yes of course the server her self.. who is Vivian, and whom gave the worst service I ever experienced .. we waited over 30 minutes to order due to in her words a order she needed to take care of that was running behind .we then waited over an hour to even get our first course and my friend had to go grab her drink she had ordered from the bar herself that was completely watered down from sitting there for who knows how long , we received refills twice on our children's drinks ,had to ask to get plates and glasses removed, and to top if off she never came back for payment so we left the bill with the bartender and as we are walking out she is standing at the hostess stand socializing..just and all around horrible experience and to spend 3 hours and cost between the 4 of us well over 200$ I'm discouraged on if I will return .. if i did it would be for the chocolate fondue.. that was delicious
Terrible terrible service. Made comment about it when asked, by/to the owner, but nothing changed.
Further, a drunk patron at another table was loud & obnoxious, yet none of the staff asked him to tone it down.
We eat at MP frequently and this was the absolute worst experience. When you pay that kind of money for a meal, you expect better service & ambience.
Ps - despite describing in my open table rsvp that it was my wife’s birthday, the waitress still asked if we were celebrating anything special?!?!
I have been going to the melting pot for a little over 3 years now and visit frequently but lately the service hasnt been the best the last 3 times i have been i have had issues but in the past ive always rated the melting pot a 10 out of 10 but here lately the service hasnt been the best as it usually is and it seems as if they dont "aim to please" anymore the food has ALWAYS been great but the service has gone down hill 👎
Upon arrival we were greeted by a beautiful and pleasant woman. The restaurant was unusually cold. Once seated we couldn’t help but notice that the area was extremely drafty. This compromised our comfort level even further. Our waiter graciously allowed us to move to a different location.
We have had our food prepared better during previous experiences. Thank goodness the manager, David, came by our table to check on us. Our main course “rescue” spoon was covered in food and debris. David agreed that the spoon was visibly dirty and secured a clean spoon for us.
We have celebrated many special occasions at this Melting Pot location. This was the first time that we were very disappointed. The service was very poor.
During our cheese course the tray with all of the ingredients sat at our table untended for at least 5 minutes while our server was no where to be found. Since the liquid in the double boiler was on for so long before the fondue was made, it was completely evaporated before we finished the course and was actually smoking (very unpleasant) instead of steaming.
At our main course, again, the tray of raw food was delivered but we didn't have our cooking pot for another 5 minutes, at least. Our server brought white zinfandel when I ordered a second glass of the wine I'd brought from the bar - it was clearly a red wine. When the manager checked in with us I told him we were having service issues. He cleared our table but was obviously frustrated to be doing it. He did not apologize for the situation or make any offer to rectify the situation.
Finally, my husband said he did not want chocolate fondue & should only have been charged for a 3 course meal but was charged for 4 courses. We didn't ask to have the bill revised because we knew it would prolong an already bad experience. I think our server may have served a quantity for 4 people but my husband had clearly said he didn't want it and we indicated that the other 3 of us didn't want the extra serving.
Our server was very pleasant and she was attentive to the gluten free needs of one in our party, but the service was horrible. The Melting Pot was our 17 & 21 year old daughters' first choice of places to celebrate their great first semester grades. It has been their go to celebration spot for years. After this visit, we're not sure we'll go back.
This is the first bad review I’ve written in my entire life. Being at the melting pot multiple times, this was our worst experience. Probably won’t be returning anytime soon. It was our anniversary, got a terrible corner booth, almost like a kids table. Was an hour and a half at least before we got anything. Knowing they were busy we put in our order early. The portions were smaller then I’ve ever experienced. The broth steamed out before we even received our entree. I’m aware of being busy, I’m a server. This was not that busy. The server had a good attitude, that’s about all that was okay. We had reserved a week ahead for our anniversary. Seems that didnt matter to anyone there.
The food was very good with the exception of the the witty salad. The service was horrible. We were sat for at least 10 mins before we saw the waitress. When she did the cheese fondue, she forgot the bread. Said she would be right back. After 5 minutes I had to find the hostess who came by the table a few minutes later to see if we got bread and it had still not arrived.
We typically dine here every holiday after a family holiday outing and have a wonderful experience but this year was totally different. First we had a reservation and had to wait about 20 mins to be seated. Even while others without reservations were seated before us. Then, we were seated next to an extremely messy area (think food on floor and dirty dishes) that was promised to be cleaned up right away but was not cleaned up through our entire meal. The service was slow and inattentive. We had to wait for water and drink refills and were finished with our meals before asked if we wanted any extra dipping sauces etc. We were so disappointed.
Normally the cheese is my favorite part of the meal, i tend to get the same one every visit. (Think it's called Wisconsin cheddar?) This time the cheese was not as great as it has been previously... not sure if it had same ingredients or the server made it slightly different??
I realize that eating here is an "experience", not to be rushed. At this Delmar location the food itself was excellent but it was 45 minutes before we even got our first cheese course. A total of over 3 hours... Also, the bathrooms weren't up to par (messy and out of papertowels). We normally eat at the Lamp and Lantern restaurant, have always had a wonderful experience there, and will be returning there to eat from now on.
We got seated around 645 and paid around 945, which was pretty late, and long, esp for a school night. It wasnt crowded, actually fairly empty, and we were sat way in back corner, and it was chilly. The server took a long time in between entrees, to either come back and check on us, or to get things moving. Cheese water pots were boiling for at least 20minutes before she came back. I dont feel like the meats/entrees were explained well enough. I guess for the amount of money and time spent, it just wasnt worth it.
Been there before and loved it! Decided to take my besties to celebrate my birthday..made reservations for 8 wasnt seated till after 830...drinks and food was amazing as usual..waiter was hard to find ..guess he was really busy...my friends didnt undersatnd why I didnt get balloons.
Lol..so they took one off the sign out front...and wrote on it..took two hours for drinks..cheese and chocolate fondue after being seated late...so surle to time restraints ee werent able to spend more time in the loop as we planned..the owner Mike talked and sat with us and was nice...wish the waiter was around more and we could have been out in an hour instead of two...
Much better than last time we were here. Requested a private booth to celebrate a birthday, which was accommodated. Kitchen was running behind due to large crowd, and food was delayed. This was fine for us, as we were not in a hurry, but be aware that it may happen. Our waitress and the manager kindly comped us a round of drinks to make up for the delay. Food was excellent, as always.
