The Melting Pot Ratings and Reviews
We got seated around 645 and paid around 945, which was pretty late, and long, esp for a school night. It wasnt crowded, actually fairly empty, and we were sat way in back corner, and it was chilly. The server took a long time in between entrees, to either come back and check on us, or to get things moving. Cheese water pots were boiling for at least 20minutes before she came back. I dont feel like the meats/entrees were explained well enough. I guess for the amount of money and time spent, it just wasnt worth it.
Been there before and loved it! Decided to take my besties to celebrate my birthday..made reservations for 8 wasnt seated till after 830...drinks and food was amazing as usual..waiter was hard to find ..guess he was really busy...my friends didnt undersatnd why I didnt get balloons.
Lol..so they took one off the sign out front...and wrote on it..took two hours for drinks..cheese and chocolate fondue after being seated late...so surle to time restraints ee werent able to spend more time in the loop as we planned..the owner Mike talked and sat with us and was nice...wish the waiter was around more and we could have been out in an hour instead of two...
Much better than last time we were here. Requested a private booth to celebrate a birthday, which was accommodated. Kitchen was running behind due to large crowd, and food was delayed. This was fine for us, as we were not in a hurry, but be aware that it may happen. Our waitress and the manager kindly comped us a round of drinks to make up for the delay. Food was excellent, as always.
I am so happy The Melting Pot of University City is now open for lunch! My girlfriend and I tried the crave combo with the Alpine Cheese, California Salad, and Yin Yang chocolate. The food was amazing and I want to go back again next weekend to try an entirely different combo!
The only thing my wife and I could say about "The Melting Pot" is that it was an outstanding experience in the service, the atmosphere and the food. Tobey our waiter was out standing. He told us everything about the food as he prepared each course of our four course meat at our table. He never let our drinks go dry. The manager is a hands on type of manager. He worked side by side with Tobey. My wife and I look forward to taking friends with us when we go back. The Melting Pot is the place to go for a date night out.
We returned to The Melting Pot after many years and were not disappointed. We took friends who had never been there and we all enjoyed a lovely meal. The hard part is deciding on one cheese and one dessert. But everything was delicious and the server, Sean, was awesome.
Our waitress was in and out and manager checked in. I've been at this location before and really the wait staff make the difference in a four course 2.5 hour meal. I extremely enjoyed the flavors of my food like always delicious and scrumptious. Not having my tea refilled wasn't great.
My husband came home for leave and he was very skeptical about eating at The Melting Pot, because it was a chain restaurant and he wanted somewhere special and unique. I am glad that I did not cancel the reservation for his birthday, because he was so surprised. He absolutely loved it!
Our waitress was not too helpful or talkative, and it was our first time at this restaurant...The menu can overwhelm you if you do not know how it works. The food was okay/decent but very overpriced. Paid $10 for one small glass of margarita. Interesting restaurant, however we will not be back.
Visited the Melting Pot Friday evening with my wife; first time visit. Overall, a good experience but came with a number of detractors. The meat proportions were very light....actually left the restaurant wanting more. The ambiance was too dark which made it difficult to see the food we were eating. Finally, the price for this experience was very high....just did the standard 4-course meal with nothing additional and it cost me $93.
My wife and I come here every year on our anniversary, but this was the least pleasant experience. Our waiter took forever to get things out to us. We were in the restaurant for 3 hours and were so tired of sitting. Food was fantastic as always. And the manager was very polite as well.
My fiancé and I had a lovely time at the Melting Pot. The food was good, though the service was what really impressed us. The server that helped us was as friendly as could be, chatted, and overall made sure we were taken care of. The price was a bit more than what I would normal spend on a dinner date, but it was a special occasion. I wouldn't recommend this restaurant for anything but a special occasion dinner. My fiancé and I both agree that, while the experience was fun and interesting, we both would prefer to go elsewhere that is less expensive and spend what we save on a night at the movies or another other activity.
We made a reservation for 7:30 and were sat 20 minutes later. Very frustrated it took that long to get a table. The know we waited between 15 and 30 minutes to receive each food course. There was so much waiting it was frustrating. To give you an idea how much waiting we did; my husband and I shared the 4 course experience (since we weren't super hungry) and we were there for 2 1/2 hours. That is almost 40 minutes for each course and the waitress would not even check on us. Mind you I have ate at several melting pots in VA and NY and this was my worst experience I have had. Don't think I will be returning....
