The Melting Pot - Rocky River Ratings and Reviews
Went out for dinner with friends, since a special was running. Been before with the wife for special occasions and enjoyed.
This time though, the waitress was rushed and loud. Seemed like she was impatient with our table.
Food was ok, definitely have had better in the past.
Overall, not an enjoyable time.
We have always had a wonderful evening when visiting the Melting Pot. However, this year for our anniversary we had a less than stellar experience. From a loud & jarring server, to being rushed through our meal, the whole evening lacked the romance we have learned to expect from this restaurant.
Overpriced.. Stale Chips/Bread for Cheese Bowl.. Desserts' plate had desserts that were either in the refrigerator too long or were frozen/thawed and you could taste it. The establishment was dirty.. stains everywhere, food all over the floors.. the bathroom is directly across from the kitchen and the kitchen door was open to loud music and the kitchen looked filthy as well. I would not recommend and I will not be returning.
We’ve been going to Melting Pot for years and always loved it. Until tonight. Even though we went early and there was no crowd, our server was mildly inattentive. I’m not sure whether the other negative points were choices she made, policies of this particular MP or MP corporate, but this was NOT the enjoyable big night out we typically have had. For starters, the salad and cheese were both shoved on our very small table at once, with the reason given that “the salad complements the cheese”. It made everything crowded and sloppy, and felt like they were rushing us. Second, the boullion came out right after the cheese, and they just shoved the cheese over so it was cockeyed half on half off the cooking surface, making it quite awkward and even more crowded, less elegant. This wasn’t even remotely worth the splurge of calories or dollars. Very disappointing!
Greatly enjoyed the time. We got a cozy booth in the back away from the noise and everyone. My date was really nervous about going, but as soon as we arrived the hostess was super friendly and put us both at ease. The set menu was perfect, the amount of food was good for us and the atmosphere really made our NYE more romantic. Definitely worth the price.
This particular experience was on New Year's Eve. What a disaster. It's clear they were not prepared for the holiday rush (even though this location has been open for years...??) Service was not what I'd usually expect from the Melting P
ot but I can't even blame the staff because they all looked completely frazzled, over worked, and exhausted. I felt like I was bothering them by being there. Look, I've had to work on holidays too. It sucks. But being in a service industry you really need to learn to suck it up and do a better job of hiding it from your guests.
Food was great. Our server was absolutely horrible. She was neglectful, rude, and short tempered. At one point I waited 35 minutes for a coke refill. She slammed down our plates, rushed us in ordering. And even yelled at one of the bus boys right in front of us.
3 of the 4 of us had worked in the service industry and we were horrified by her behavior. In order to not rtin our me year, we chose to just move on and not complain that night. Other than that... everything else was fine.
We were there on New Year's Eve for a all inclusive package of 125$ without alcohol which was to include tax and tip however our bill was 134$, I had to call two times to get reimbursed. Never received our swag bag.We spend 3/4 of the meal without drinks and saw the waitress maybe 4 times from start to finish, they appeared short staffed. The manager was running around doing everything!! The food was excellent and I would give then another try just maybe on a weekday.
So the server was hardly ever around when we needed her. usually service is good, but this time, she didn't bring a correct drink out...a martini belongs in a martini glass-NOT a coke glass. I had to tell her to tell the bartender how to make a drink and it still came out wrong. Oh yeah.....and QUIT being cheap about the bread and cheese...who the hell wants 'tortilla' chips when you are paying a high amount for dinner. If I wanted Mexican, I would've went to Taco Bell. When we received the check, not only was the gratuity added because it was a holiday, but the additional gratuity was added AS WELL. It took forever to get the server back to correct it so we could pay the bill and she sheepishly did so and really didn't apologize......was this a set up!? CAUGHT! Customers....LOOK at your entire bill before paying at this place- we almost got screwed out of an additional $25-30.
Absolutely terrible! We waited for 40 minutes just for drinks (which we never got). We got up and left. Maybe if they were busy, I could understand, but they were not. For the cost, great service is a necessity. We were there for our 10 year wedding anniversary, too.
Restaurant was dark and not welcoming. The woman who waited on us was great! The cheese fondue had little flavor. The vegetables that came with the cheese fondue were pathetic! One normal-sized piece of broccoli, a tiny morsel of broccoli, 4 small carrot and celery pieces. The basil chicken had some flavor - the all natural chicken, no flavor -- and all were tough pieces. The price paid for the amount of food we received was outrageous.
Our waitress was awesome and very personable which I really liked! I was a little upset because normally it is really quite and romantic in there and we had the loudest group by us. This has never happened before so I was a little disappointed. They were kind of rude with their noise level. The food was amazing as always. The waitress was new and I;m not sure if they changed the level to put the cook top to or not but it wasn't cooking the food as fast. Even at the end of our entree the broccoli and potatoes were still hard after being int here the whole time. Other than that, we still had an okay experience, just not what we're used to. The reason we go to The Fairview Park location is for the setting and quietness unlike the Legacy Village location. They are quite loud and the food isn't as good as at The Westgate location.
