The Melting Pot - Rochester Ratings and Reviews
Me & three of my friends/family went to the Melting Pot for Galentine's Day - our 3rd or 4th year in the tradition.
We had Brian as our server and I cannot tell you how much we loved him! He was great, on the spot, funny and attentive.
We hope you keep going with this tradition so we can keep going!!
It took 15 minutes to come to the table to ask for our drinks...and honestly for the cost of this restaurant to bring the food raw and you cook it yourself I could have did that at home and paid less. Then for my friend to mention that she has a shellfish allergy and be told "well they change the gloves and plates so you SHOULD be fine" is a careless and ridiculous answer...we left and went elsewhere. I would never return.
This is a lovely experience. It’s relaxing, upscale and anytime you go it’s a wonderful time to gather with friends. We make it a point to come with Friends several times a year and spend about 3 hours enjoying this unique dining experience. The menu is fresh and there is something for everyone. The prices may seem a little on the high side but it’s an all inclusive price from appetizer to dessert. This is the place to come if you want someone to feel special.
This was my first time at the melting pot. I was very confused with the menu. The server did go over the menu but it was very quick. The meal was good. I however didn't get a refill at the end if the meal before the chocolate fondue was brought to our table. The waitress was not in sight for about 30 minutes to even ask for a refill another server was the one to bring them to us.
I was not happy to receive my bill with a lot of extra charges. Things that were not explained to me when we were ordering. When I asked the server about the bill her response to me was that I asked you at the beginning. My response to her was that it was very confusing. I asked for her to change my bill. I ordered 2 sodas, a salad, 4 course experience and a create your own meal. I had a extra charge for cheese. If i would have had a better understanding of the menu and how things worked I would have ordered much differently. I work in a restaurant and am very aware of customer service. This being my 1st time there I was not impressed at all. I am not sure if I will be returning.
Some problem with the order entry.... very slow service. Usually one course follows another closely and we would sit at times
For 30 min with no food. 4 different waiters/greeters asked me if I wanted another martini... that was annoying. Manager who was also the guy that sat us checked in an hour later to see how we
Were. Obviously not great... we weren’t eating anything when he checked in we were just sitting there bored. We didn’t speak up...not confrontational. He should have noticed without asking. Bummer cause it’s my favorite restaurant. But 3 hours for a meal is just to much.
Another excellent visit to Rochester Melting Pot! We were there to celebrate my son’s 10th birthday, so I ended up calling in the morning and added on the balloon package. Zach was so excited and surprised when we arrived (he found out we were going there as we pulled towards the parking lot), and even more so when he saw his balloons and chocolate! As an even bigger surprise, my ‘don’t take my picture’ son was excited to get his picture taken and then receive it framed! Several of the staff stopped by the table to wish him a happy birthday, of course included in that were several stops by manager Kevin (who is just wonderful!!!). Amarra (sp?...card is downstairs) was friendly, informative, and great with my son. She went out of her way to engage him in conversation (she talked to him about Star Wars after noticing his shirt...he was a fan), and made it fun for him! She made sure we had everything we needed in a very timely manner, and explained things to Zach in a way that was easy to understand, but while still making him feel older! And as always, the food was amazing!!! When it came time for chocolate, in addition to ‘Happy Birthday’, she also wrote ‘May the force be with you’ on his dessert plate...very cool! And that one little extra thing brought a huge smile to his face!
Great great great evening...thank you!!!
Service was sub-par. Had a reservation, the place was kind of empty, but seating still took a while. The food was good - just has two kinds of cheese fondue and two kinds of chocolate fondue. The portions are so small that the min order is 2 portions. The waiter did not control the temperature properly - we had to do it ourselves, which would have been fine had we been told from the start, so we make the best of the fondue. As far as value for the money, it's really expensive to the point that it's not worth it - and that was without any entrees, which are even more expensive. will not go there again and will not recommend the place. Sorry.
The server and manager were more than helpful and friendly with their menu, and with accommodating special requests. However, one option that I believe needs to be added to the reservation section on line is the fact that depending on the special request, they need to leave a price notification, something that tells you ahead of time that you will be charged depending on your special request. Because I was surprised with an extra 20 dollars on my bill at the end for a single rose... it was cool that we got to take the vase it came in home tho, as well as the rose! Overall I’d give it 10/10, would recommend!
Went for my daughter's 26th birthday with 6 of us in the party. Two newbies in the group. The waitress was awesome, extremely helpful, explained everything very well. The dessert plate for my daughter had "Happy Birthday" written in glittery gel on it and there was a birthday card for her on the table signed by all of the restaurant employees. Every one of us in the party had an awesome time. Just make sure that you have a lot of time if you're going for the 4 course meal. If you've got newbies, or indecisive people, it can take 3 hours to get through the 4 courses.
I would recommend this restaurant for any occasion. We were a group of six and it was fun and great food. The server, Phil, went out of his way to make sure we understood the process and was very helpful. We were there for a birthday celebration for 2 people and they brought champagne with our dessert fondue and gave plates with Happy Birthday on them to the celebrants. It a very good evening.
We celebrated birthday / anniversary with another couple. It was their first time and they found it to be quite a unique experience
Our server Victor absolutely made the night
He was funny and charismatic and made our dining experience and celebration of our occasions a night to remember !!
We will be back again and will request him again if possible on our next visit
My friend and I were at the Melting Pot tonight for dinner. We mixed up the dates for the Friendsgiving special, which doesn’t actually start until tomorrow, but the manager was kind enough to still let us do it! The food was as amazing as always and Poe (our waiter) was lots of fun and took great care of us!
My husband and I were there for our 1 year wedding anniversary. We went there for our first date Valentines Day 2015 and I fell in love with The Melting Pot. The food is absolutely delicious and we are never hungry when we leave. We always have excellent and outstanding service. Everyone is extremely nice and pleasant. The manager Kevin remembered us from our last visit this past April. My husband took me for my birthday which happened to be Kevin’s birthday too which was really cool and he was our server that night. For our anniversary dinner we had Michael and he was wonderful and very pleasant. We were there for just over 3 hours and enjoyed every minute of it. We can’t wait to go back!!!!
We have been there several times and truly enjoy it. Just special time being able to go there. Quiet, Cozy and Food is amazing.
The owner came up to us and talked and wanted to make sure we were enjoying our evening. The manager came by to talk and also make sure all was good.
Our Server was Amora and she was fantastic !
My family and I visited the Melting Pot for the 1st time this past weekend. We went for my wife's birthday with the plan of sampling some 'desserts.' From the moment we entered until when we left about 90 minutes later, we were treated as though we were the most important people in the restaurant. The staff was friendly, helpful, and explained everything about the menu, expectations, etc. "Dino" was our waiter and he was excellent! He was friendly, used humor, and took good care of our family. We ended up having an appetizer and then dessert. Both were excellent! At 2 times during the visit, the manager visited our table to check on our experience, etc. It was nice to be treated so well at a restaurant. It doesn't happen a lot anymore...The food was pricey, but we knew that going in, but it was well worth it! We probably won't visit a lot, but on special occasions: a great place to celebrate and to be treated like kings and queens for the moment!
