The Melting Pot - Richmond
The staff was awesome to stay late. I did feel bad(restaurant closes at 9 and we made a reservation for 845 and showed up at 835). They said it wasn't an issue...but we did run out of tempura batter and they had to go back and make more. We just felt so bad staying as there was no one left in the restaurant. Also, not sure if the server chose the highest tip rate on the handheld card reader or if it did it automatically. Just be aware if you are one for not looking and just signing!
We had a good server. Even though it got busier as the night went on, he did an awesome job
Great night out with the family! Kids had a great time as well. Jacob, our waiter, was “on point” as the kids said. Will definitely be back soon.
Very disappointed with this visit -
Our total time here was 3 hours. The majority of that was spent waiting for our waitress to come back. She would give us a course, check in a minute or two later, we would eat within 20 minutes then sit there for 30 minutes waiting for her. We constantly had to ask for refills (4 separate times). We consistently had empty cups or dirty plates we had to ask, “Can you take this?” as the table is clearly covered. There was apparently road construction planned tonight too for the parking lot? Which was great to yell over since we were in the back right near the doors.
The only thing I can say is the food was good. We usually only come here for special occasions - like this time, my daughters birthday. Which, by the way, we mentioned that when we booked & when we walked in. We heard every other waitress/waiter ask their table if it was a special occasion but, of course, ours did not.
We literally drove from an hour away for this meal. There was 6 of us and we did the full course meal - so it was clearly not cheap. Very disappointed, wish we had gone elsewhere.
When we first arrived we were led to a table that was uncomfortably tight. Fortunately we were able to be moved to a table that was significantly more comfortable. We were surprised that our cheese fondue was not prepared at our table (we dine annually at the Reston, VA location where preparation is at the table which makes it far more exciting). We were a table of 4 and they only brought out one plate of dippers (I'd suggest 2, one for each couple) because only 1 made sharing a bit clunky. All the sauces were brought with such a small amount within that we had to keep asking to be brought more. I also didn't like that they brought only one small bowl of the vegetables and dumped them all into the cooking pot at once. Overall we had a nice time and the food was good, I just didn't experience the same level of dining that I am familiar with in Reston, VA.
Time lag between servings was slower than normal but overall very good
Very good, haven’t been there in 15 years. Food was delicious and the staf was courteous by giving us a card when we sat down wishing us a happy anniversary and also gave us strawberry shortcake for dessert. Very nice overall
I normally like the Melting Pot. But this time it was terrible. 50 minutes between the time we sat and the time we got our cheese course. Our server would disappear for long periods of time. He started checking on us towards the end, but that point it was too late.
The Melting Pot has gotten very casual compared to what I remember several years ago. Gone are the classy jazz music, attentive waiters, and relaxing, romantic atmosphere. I was a bit disappointed.
Uncomfortable seating, food was mediocre, at best. Service was decent.
I have been many times, and always a good experience!
Food was great, however we felt really bad for our server - she was training per her introduction “accompanied” by her trainer - took over 1 hour to get our salads food & customer service in RVA to choose from
I like the food but not the service. My waiter is nice and other employees are warm but my waiter did not inform me the extra charges for certain items, which are not clear on the menu. I value the transparency a lot and don’t like being surprised when seeing the receipt, though it might be a 10+ bucks difference. I feel kinda not respected by not having necessary information. It also took a long time to wait for my waiter through each process, including getting my food on the table, paying...
Had a great time with my homecoming date. Our sever was so fun and very informative :)
Chris was great. Thanks for a great double date night with our daughter and her boyfriend.
It took a long time between our entree and serving of desert
Went to the Sunday brunch for the first time with my family. The food was delicious and an issue with the entree order was immediately remedied. Only complaint was that it was very cold in the restaurant, but a cup of hot coffee helped with that. I will definitely return.
Great food and a really fun experience.
Came here for my birthday celebration and had a wonderful experience!!!! Will definitely come back soon!
Great food and Dani was excellent. Thanks for a great meal!
We were Dani’s first table and she did a fantastic job!
Peyton made our experience absolutely fantastic. We have already recommended the melting pot to other friends and family and will be back soon ourselves!
Food was great, but the service was painfully slow. I love taking our time there but they left the cooking oil pot on our table for 30 minutes before they ever brought the food to cook!
Our server, Eli, was personable and attentive. He kept the courses arriving right on schedule! As always, the food was delicious. The restaurant has changed some things for the better; for instance, the search & rescue spoon handle no longer gets hot to the touch, and the entree meats were presented on individual serving trays which provided more room on the table. My mom requested this meal for her 76th birthday celebration and The Melting Pot did not disappoint.
Overall another Great experience. I just think our waiter had a difficult time balancing multiple tables. Service was a bit slow so manager and hostess constantly checked up on us.
Excellent service and food as always.
Our waitress was amazing.
Absolutely wonderful experience! The food was amazing, service was excellent, and the atmosphere was really romantic. I'll definitely be returning.
What used to a great place for special occasions has really fallen off. The special touches that made Melting Pot great (incredible service, extensive wine menu, creative preparation of the food, attention to detail) were all absent, and from what was observed last evening, forever gone. As the rest of Richmond's food scene has raised their game, the Melting Pot have seemingly waived the white flag and resigned themselves to being an overpriced TGIFridays. This is a sad coda to what once was a special night out.
Matt was our server and he was excellent!!! He was very good at explaining everything to us and helping us have a great experience.
The food was nice - just like melting pot always is although it’s been getting worse value for money over the years. The service here was lax and we were left waiting. The waiter didn’t even heat the chocolate for the desert so was very lax in what he did. He seeme£ to be dealing with other customers much more than us.
Great first time experience. Lighting to read the menu was poor. Service was excellent!
Nice restaurant, good food good ambience.
For those looking, its on the backside of the shopping center GPS dropped me on the front near the Kroger; i had to ask a shopper where the restaurant was.
My bestie and I had a wonderful experience tonight at the Melting Pot.
It was our first time going to the Melting Pot and we loved the concept of the restaurant. Loved the quiet atmosphere, the food, the waiter was excellent and very professional. Would definitely go there again.
Wife’s Birthday - Cameron was a terrific server. Great menu changes to offer much more of a variety.
Too expensive for us to be cooking our own food.
Matt was our server this time, and he was very helpful and knowledgeable about giving us tips to better enjoy our experience. We have been coming here for some time, and will definitely continue. It is a fantastic family experience!
Food was good. Service was rather fast. A little on the pricey side, but we knew that going into it. If in the area again, I’d stop by for dessert.
We had not been here for several years since it was so expensive last time and reserved for special occasions. Our party had 6 people for an adult birthday celebration. The service was slow and not professional as it had been before, they no longer do the cheese fondue at the table, it comes out from the kitchen already made and luke warm so we had to wait 10-15 minutes for it to heat up. The portions are TINY, I counted 6 bites on my salad that came with my $45 entrée. The entrée itself was a portion for a child and the steak was not even that great a grade, the wine selection was also very limited and extremely overprice ( $13 for 1 glass of chardonnay that I can buy at a grocery store for $11 a bottle )
Our meal took over 2 and 1/2 hours and we didn't even wait for the dessert since it had gotten so late, no discount was given for taking the dessert off our check. Our total meal was over $350 and a total waste of money. I will definitely not be returning ever!
