The Melting Pot - Richmond
It was great! We put on our reservation that it was our anniversary and they had a card waiting for us! Great service and really good food!
This was a perfect dining experience. Christy was fabulous!! I would give it 10 stars but can’t. Thanks so much
We go to The Melting Pot at least four or more times a year and usually it is five stars every time. The food was great as usual but the pace of our meal was probably the worst we’ve ever had. We realize that it was a Saturday night in prime dining time around 7:30 PM and expected around two hours But it turned out to be closer to three hours by the time we paid the check.
Had not been here in years and was pleasantly surprised. Great food and service.
We went out for my boyfriends birthday and the dinner went beautifully. I appreciated the restaurants personalized card and small cake with a candle. We had to wait for a bit and the lobby was slightly crowded but once we were seated our service was impeccable and food delicious.
Chris was an awesome server! First time my fiancée had been there and he was patient and explained things well! My only concern was where we were seated the airflow was minimal so it was very hot and rather noisy, particularly when several servers were in same area at once. Doesn’t deter us one bit, as we booked our next trip while we were still at dinner! Thanks again Chris!!!
This was our second visit to The Melting Pot. I had bought a Living Social coupon and thought we'd give it a try. The first visit, our waiter was having a bad day and it took way too long for the service. We told the manager about the long wait times and she graciously offered her apologies and said our meal was on the house. Our coupon was about to expire so we went back a second time. This visit was much better than the first. Our waitress was very attentive and checked on us regularly. The food was very good. Only mishap was when we got the check. Our coupon was supposed to cover the entire meal, but there was a glitch when it was applied to the check. We explained it to the manager and he quickly resolved the issue and all was good.
Loved it! We had a great time celebrating my daughter’s 18th birthday. The food was wonderful!!!
Great service from Chris!
My wife and I were seated at a private table. We were very pleased with the food, as well as our service.
It was a great date night. We had a great server that gave us some good advice on some of the selections. We were surprised by the quantity of food we got with our Groupon. Don't pass up getting one banana foster for desert.
The service was unacceptable. The food was ok. The place was hot inside and not very clean. The restrooms were very dirty and my feet stuck to the floor. I have been to this location many times in the past and I was shocked about how horrible the experience was in comparison to the past. I shared my feedback with the manager and he really didn’t seem to care. I think he is way over his head. It’s a shame because this use to be a great experience.
Our waitress was amazing & delivered the most amazing experience ever in the history of Richmond dining. She should be recognized for this extravagant meal & her most amazing skills
We made a reservation for my birthday and the table wasn't ready so we had to wait for it. Then when we were seated no one came to greet us. Then we were told that we had to move to a different table. After they moved us we went greeted for at least 15 mins. Then when we ordered a bottle of wine the server replied to us with let me see if I can ask my manager if we have that wine. It's on the menu so I done know why they wouldn't have it. All of the requests were answered with let me see if I can find that for you. Rather then I'll have that right out for you. We had to ask for the table to be cleared of. The overall experience was fair. The manager didn't even apologize for the wait or having to change our tables after we had already been seated. Melting pot has really gone down hill since my last experience. And there was what appeared to be black mold all over the vet beside our table which was disgusting. It's probably all over the ceiling of the restaurant and that's why they have it painted black. What was supposed to be a special birthday night turned into a big disappoint. We definitely won't be back.
They remembered we were celebrating our daughter's bday and I also got my bday strawberries.
Service was excellent and food relish - did not disappoint.
I eat here around four times a year. Owner and managers are extremely genuine and nice. We had a new server this week and she was getting the hang of things. Unfortunately, she forgot to give us our to go salad. Oh well. No problem. I’ll always come back :)
It was fine. But just fine. The waitress would disappear at times and drinks be empty
Great and knowledgeable server with some pretty good food!
Too busy a time of year . Not as thorough of service as usual although the waiter was doing his best .
We were sat by the kitchen door and it was broken and very loud. It was a little difficult to catch our waiter but it was very busy. Our reservation was easy and ready. Overall we enjoyed it and would go back.
It is a nice experience and the food is good. It is kind of pricey for the portions you are served. I would recommend that they spread the guests out more. I was at dinner with my husband, and unfortunately there was a loud and obnoxious table next to ours. It kind of inconvenienced every one else around them.
Traditional birthday dinner with our granddaughter. Food was very good this year. Better than in some of our past visits. Nice atmosphere though booth was a bit cramped. Still a unique experience that does lend itself to special occasions.
Service wasn’t as great as usual, but it was a very busy night.
Holiday times can be expected but 3 hours since reservation and just getting to desert. David helped us in getting out party seated together which was really nice. The place is packed and several utensils came back for third course with food stuck to them so didn’t make the cleaning well in the kitchen. That’s not sanitary and just did not leave a good feeling through our dinner.
Burner at the table consistently also had problems heating/temperature. This visit was a complete miss/mess unfortunately with the burner issues, dirty utensils, and not great service. Servers were informed several times throughout the evening... not the best service. This place can do and has performed better in the past!
Very good. My wife and I have been several times over the years, consistently good.
I have noticed it getting hotter in the individual booths, need better ventilation with all of the heat and steam from the pots can get uncomfortable.
We have been going to The Melting Pot for 20 years the last two times both Waiters we're not up to par they forget half the things you tell them they forget your drink order numerous times and this past time he didn't even ask us what kind of broth we wanted to cook in he just assumed and brought it out we will keep going because we love the cheese fondue the meals and of course the desserts I hope they fix the issues with the staff
Peyton was the best service we have had at any Melting Pot (Richmond, Raleigh, Va Beach). She anticipated all the extras, and made our experience fantastic!
Both our waiter & experience here were amazing!
The staff was awesome to stay late. I did feel bad(restaurant closes at 9 and we made a reservation for 845 and showed up at 835). They said it wasn't an issue...but we did run out of tempura batter and they had to go back and make more. We just felt so bad staying as there was no one left in the restaurant. Also, not sure if the server chose the highest tip rate on the handheld card reader or if it did it automatically. Just be aware if you are one for not looking and just signing!
We had a good server. Even though it got busier as the night went on, he did an awesome job
Great night out with the family! Kids had a great time as well. Jacob, our waiter, was “on point” as the kids said. Will definitely be back soon.
Very disappointed with this visit -
Our total time here was 3 hours. The majority of that was spent waiting for our waitress to come back. She would give us a course, check in a minute or two later, we would eat within 20 minutes then sit there for 30 minutes waiting for her. We constantly had to ask for refills (4 separate times). We consistently had empty cups or dirty plates we had to ask, “Can you take this?” as the table is clearly covered. There was apparently road construction planned tonight too for the parking lot? Which was great to yell over since we were in the back right near the doors.
The only thing I can say is the food was good. We usually only come here for special occasions - like this time, my daughters birthday. Which, by the way, we mentioned that when we booked & when we walked in. We heard every other waitress/waiter ask their table if it was a special occasion but, of course, ours did not.
We literally drove from an hour away for this meal. There was 6 of us and we did the full course meal - so it was clearly not cheap. Very disappointed, wish we had gone elsewhere.
When we first arrived we were led to a table that was uncomfortably tight. Fortunately we were able to be moved to a table that was significantly more comfortable. We were surprised that our cheese fondue was not prepared at our table (we dine annually at the Reston, VA location where preparation is at the table which makes it far more exciting). We were a table of 4 and they only brought out one plate of dippers (I'd suggest 2, one for each couple) because only 1 made sharing a bit clunky. All the sauces were brought with such a small amount within that we had to keep asking to be brought more. I also didn't like that they brought only one small bowl of the vegetables and dumped them all into the cooking pot at once. Overall we had a nice time and the food was good, I just didn't experience the same level of dining that I am familiar with in Reston, VA.
Time lag between servings was slower than normal but overall very good
Very good, haven’t been there in 15 years. Food was delicious and the staf was courteous by giving us a card when we sat down wishing us a happy anniversary and also gave us strawberry shortcake for dessert. Very nice overall
I normally like the Melting Pot. But this time it was terrible. 50 minutes between the time we sat and the time we got our cheese course. Our server would disappear for long periods of time. He started checking on us towards the end, but that point it was too late.
The Melting Pot has gotten very casual compared to what I remember several years ago. Gone are the classy jazz music, attentive waiters, and relaxing, romantic atmosphere. I was a bit disappointed.
Uncomfortable seating, food was mediocre, at best. Service was decent.
