The Melting Pot - Reston Ratings and Reviews
Overall everything was great. However, there was one issue. I booked through Open Table. When calling to confirm, prior to 4pm the day prior, I requested that the Flower Special be added to my reservation so that roses and a balloon would be on our table prior to my arrival. I was advised that it was added to our reservation. Upon being seated the day of our dinner the flowers and balloon were not present. When bringing this to the attention of the restaurant they advised that it was not added to our reservation. However, they were quick to resolve this issue and we moved forward. Other than that the service was great, the food was great, and I would recommend asking for Angela as a server. She was fantastic at helping guide us through.
Once again we had a nice time at the Melting Pot. The food was great, our service was great and the ambiance made for a fun evening. The experience here is more like an evening meal in Europe. You dine--good conversation, plenty of time to experience the food and time to just relax.
The service was terrible. Our waiter was slow and inattentive and even the manager was brisk. We had a mix of being rushed through our courses and having to wait for over 30 minutes for someone to come to the table. I’ve been a melting pot fan for over ten years but this was by far the worst experience I’ve had.
The worst service we've had in years. Our waitress hated her job and it shows. Horrible attitude. Painfully slow (almost entirely absent), aloof, pouty service. We sat with dirty empty plates in front of us most of the night. We were surrounded by little kids watching smartphone videos on full volume. It was anything but a special evening.
Everything was very good. Fondue and bread starter were great. The main entrees were good, and the desert was good as well. It is just a bit high of a price to say it was a fantastic value. Alcohol and tip not included, the food alone ended up being above $100 for just two people. So for a price like that I would expect to be way over wowed. If the prices were 15 to 20% lower I might say it was a great value. But at that price for just food, it is just a good value.
Took friends from England here. It was the first time they had been to a fondue restuarant. It was also our anniversary so a happy occasion all around. Food was good, service a little slow but it was a very busy night with local dance attendees and other large groups. Service did not affect our overally experience . The meal was enjoyed by all.
This was such a great atmosphere for the occasion and is great for a place to have an interactive dinner rather than just ordering food individually. It was so fun and our waitress Latifah was awesome she explained the menu and knew it very well! She even recommended the house favorites and we trusted her and we loved the choices!! Very nice place to wine and dine and eat dessert! Great price to for the 4-Course dinner!
This was a major disappointment. We were seated 30 minutes after our reservation then left alone for another 25. It was my daughter's 14th birthday dinner - we come every year. It was unreal. The server (who was really nice) spilled a bowl of cheese fondue's bread and it never got cleaned up. That meant that as we went to the bathroom we stepped on it and ground it in. Yuck. It took so long to get skewers that my husband had to go grab them from the pile that was waiting to get rolled up with the napkins. They were late, slow and only mildly apologetic. We will find a new birthday restaurant. Ugh.
We initially had reservations for 630, we then asked if we could move them to 7 because we were going to be a bit late. This was no issue. When we arrived around 650 we were told it would be a few minutes. 45 minutes later and 3 conversations with the hosting staff we were finally sat at a table. People who had reservations after us with the same number of people were sat before us without explanation. After sitting down one of the hostesses did come to apologize, but this wasn't her fault, they did not have the right staff in place for a very busy Sunday night (holiday weekend). Waitress finally came after about 10 minutes and got the drink order. She returned to take the order (still without drinks). Finally, about 15 minutes later she came back to tell us that the wine I ordered was unavailable. She suggested a different one and a taste. 10 minutes later I got the taste which was very different than what I had ordered. I finally picked something else and approximately 40 minutes after we sat down I had my first drink. Food was fine, nothing special after all the waiting we had done. Always love the chocolate course but I felt like we were more at a fast food place than what we remember Melting Pot being. We hadn't eaten there in 5 years and it used to have great ambiance and the best servers. This was more like ordering on an iPad and having someone drop it by, with no attention or any kind of service. Also, the table behind the wall was so loud, they yelled and screamed the entire time (younger girls) but no one said a word to them. Very disappointing. Not sure we will be back.
Service was super slow. We had to pour our own water at one point. The cheese fondue and the chocolate fondue were delicious. We ran out of dippers for the cheese fondue and asked for more. By the time they arrived, they were ready to switch pots for the entrée. The entrée, which is basically boiled meat, is just ok. A very expensive meal with terrible service.
We went for an early dinner and I was surprised that we weren't seated right on time. Our server must've been working a different part of the restaurant because we had to wait between each course. We always enjoy the experience but this was slower than usual.
My friends and I came for a going away celebration. I like that you can now order your own 4 course meal--when I'd been here before, you had to order as a couple. The 4 course meal is well-priced and you get a lot of GREAT food for an amazing value. Our waiter was fun, playful and yet highly professional.
The food is always great here but the time it takes to get through dinner can be insane at times. The restaurant was steadily busy but it still took over 2 hours for a party of 2 to get through our meal. We ordered the norm: salad, entree and dessert. The food doesn't need to be cooked so I'm not sure why it took so long.
