The Melting Pot - Reston Ratings and Reviews
I’ve been here 3 times before, I would have to say this was the first time I was disappointed with my server. They seemed busy and in a rush, and normally my server goes out of the way to make someone’s experience memorable especially if they had never been, we didn’t really see our server the last half of the meal it was the manager or someone else. We still enjoyed ourselves though.
We had a great meal. I had read a lot of reviews saying that it took a long time to get seated, even with a reservation, but we had a reservation and were seated almost immediately. Restaurant was full, too. We ordered the four course meal for three people. I have also read that the four course was too much food but we did not find that to be the case. It was just the right amount. Very fresh and delicious. Our server was attentive and very friendly, and the manager came by one point to check on us as well. If I had to choose a negative comment it would be that it’s pretty pricey. We did have a few alcoholic drinks which always increases the bill, but for three of us including tip we spent $260. It was a special occasion though so it was worth it.
Excellent food and service, very relaxed environment as well. Lots of menu options to customize your meal. Good gluten-free options, for those of us with an intolerance. Service was friendly and timely, for the most part. The price point makes it better for special occasions, rather than casual dining.
Excellent attentiveness by the entire staff. They were very professional. The food was excellent (if over priced for what it is). There are plenty of choices (maybe even too many — everything sounded good). You certainly won’t leave hungry. Be sure to pace yourself. Plan for 2-3 hours. Excellent date night with a loved one or for a meal with anyone you want to get to know better.
Our waiter's first night was a busy event night, we knew more about the menu than he did. We would ask him for something that we knew was possible but he had to keep running back and asking which was ridiculous and made the dining experience over 3 hours. Also took extremely long to bring drinks and food. Messed up the cheese coarse and a different waiter had to help.
What a fabulous night out with friends. The wait for the table was longer than expected considering we had reservations, but the manager gave our table free drinks as an apology. Our server Jackie was AMAZING! I can't compliment her enough. She was energetic, informative, funny, and made the dining experience a personal touch. When we go back I will be requesting her as our server because she was so fantastic.
Once again you don't disappoint. It was my wife's birthday and she could not have been happier. It is not often that just the two of us get to go out by ourselves, so when we do we like to go someplace that knows how to take care of their customers. Our waiter was on the spot and took care of everything we could ask for. Thank you for a wonderful evening!!!
We started my daughters 18th birthday celebration with the waiter spilling drinks on two out of the 5 of us. He was more concerned about what "cheese we wanted" then moping up the spilled water, it was about 4 glasses full. Two of us were soaked through the entire dinner. The waiter kept pressuring us to pick a cheese and was adamant on us order the "4 course" - we said we needed more time that it seemed like too much food. "No, no, no - you'll be fine!" of course as it was the most expensive choice on the menu. Needless to say there was a ton of food - we didn't even eat half of it, no joke we only ate about 1/3 of the food. When I asked how we would take home the uncooked food he said we could not. At that point, wet and cranky I put the rest of the meat in the pot and cooked it. For the 5 of us we would have been fine with 2-3 meals. After sitting through an entire wet dinner we were never offered any compensation for being spilled upon. Needless to say, we will not be back and if you go don't get suckered into the 4 course - not many people could eat that amount of food. For the price it was not worth it. I forgot to mention the bread was stale, the apples were mealy, and the celery was brown. YUCK!! If it was not my daughters birthday I would have left. Accidents happen, but the manager could have come over to see how things were and I am upset with the pushy waiter and the poor quality of the food. Live and learn, I should have spoke up then!!
This place is in a very quiet area. I was able to get reservations on a Saturday night for 2. When we got there we had to wait about 30 minutes for a table which defeated the purpose of a reservation. Once we were seated, the server was very very nice. BUT it took FOREVER to get anything. The total amount of time we spent here was 3.5 hours. We basically were leaving as the staff was cleaning and getting ready to leave. It literally took so long to get anything from the cheese, to the food, to the dessert. I am not sure if they were overly busy or what was happening but we were sinking in our seats. It took away from the experience because you would eat for 15 min then wait about 30 min for the next course. However on the bright side the dessert was delicious! SO SO SO good! I do not think I will go back for the 4 course meal after the experience but I will go back for dessert!
There for my daughter’s birthday. The first waiter we had was extremely rude and condescending. When we requested the manager change our waiter she did however, they made no offer to compensate for any portion of our meal or drinks.
Once our waiter was changed the service was fine but the experience was not one that would make me want to return.
The Melting Pot is always such a fun experience! While it is quite pricey, the cheese and chocolate fondues are delicious. I did not care much for the entrée fondue, but that might just be me. We went there on a Saturday evening, and made a reservation for 6:30. It was not too busy when we got there though. Towards the end of our meal, I noticed there were a lot more people waiting to be seated. I overheard someone say that they had been waiting for an hour. So, to be safe, I would make a reservation.
The food was amazing. We got the 4 course meal and we (tried) to eat everything. Everything was so delicious that by the time we got to the chocolate fondue we were already so full we couldn’t even enjoy it like we should have.
The manager came to check on us twice which was really nice.
I started coming to The Melting Pot just over 15 years ago & have loved it ever since!!! It is a great place to go for a celebration, romantic date night, girls night out, or just because the kids did great on their report cards! For whatever the reason, or for no reason at all, head on over to The Melting Pot! Just don't forget to wear stretchy clothes & arrive HUNGRY!!!
I’ve been going to Melting Pot for probably 20+ years. The experience is always good, even when we go to the one in Myrtle Beach during our annual trek to the beach. It’s an interesting concept for dinning and that’s what makes it fun for an occasional outing/date/special occasion. The experience can be quaint for two and communal for a larger group. The selections are somewhat limited, but you really dont need anymore than what’s offered (not like Cheesecake Factory encyclopedia menu :-} ). Plan on spending a couple of hours and remember to engage your server. Most have been friendly, interesting and open to dialog. Our server last evening showed up at the desert course with two flutes of champagne; what a nice surprise.
If you haven’t been, give it a try. If you haven’t been lately, put it on your short list of dining experiences for the near future.
We love the Melting Pot. Consistently good food and service. On virtually every visit you see the manager to check in on your experience and they always strive to make things right if something falls out of place. If you love fondue, this place is just great! (Better experiences at Reston vs other locations in the past.
