Like their site says, this is an experience, not somewhere to go for a quick meal. I didn’t realize that we had to cook our own entree, but it was fun. You do need to agree on your fondue choices with your party as there is only one pot. My husband and I have very different tastes, so that was a challenge for us, but everything we ate was delicious! The service was great, too. The meal took 2 1/2 hours, but was such a pleasant experience I would recommend it to all my friends.

Attended for St. Patrick’s Day deal. Unfortunately most of the meal had nuts on it and fish so I could not enjoy. I also let my waiter know of these restrictions and was still served product that had nuts on them. He did give another plate when I noticed but then I only received 5 piece of steak and shrimp when a entree is 3 or 4.

We had a lovely time at the Melting Pot and recommend it highly. My grandson loved the shrimp and the chocolate. The server was attentive but not intrusive and was very helpful to my grandson.

Server was great. Glad they finally placed cooking times on table. Great meal and fun experience. I would suggest being able to order a side not with fondue. The sides aren’t the best in fondue. You should just be able to order a side through the kitchen.

We go once a year, every year, for a special occasion. This time, it was excellent - for the first time. The food was, well, delicious — thanks to a server who really hit everything right with the coq a vin preparation. Dessert was spot-on for fondue (a new selection on the menu), and even the salad and cheese fondue seemed elevated. Not sure if this was a one-off or a new thing, but a consistently fair to good experience unexpectedly became excellent. Maybe up our visits to twice a year?

Went for my birthday, and ordered the 4 course meal. There was too much food for either me or my husband to eat. Comes with choice of Cheese fondue, salad, entrée, and chocolate fondue. Even our daughter (11) seemed to enjoy it. Only issue is that parking is a little ways away, unless you park in handicapped, which is only parking in front of building. Very pelasant experience and we'll go back again.

Wonderful meal, if a bit pricey. The service was terrific and the food was very, very good. I'm not personally big on fondue but my wife is and it was her birthday so some friends and I took her to dinner there. She really enjoyed it and I must say that I was quite pleasantly surprised.

We used to go to The Melting Pot often but then started making fondue at home. We went to celebrate a momentous occasion, and I was more disappointed than ever! The folks at the reservation desk are clueless. Even with an Open Table reservation, we still waited.

Our waitress fake and hurried and really pushed herself to be nice. She asked us the normal courtesy questions (Have you been here before?) but didn't even bother to listen to what we said. She was also VERY hurried and rushed us out the door!! She brought dessert before we were finished with the cheese course and then the check before we asked or were finished with dessert. So rushed!

She also seemed disappointed that we were only having a cheese course and a dessert course (not the full 4-course meal).

The food was fair but soooo expensive for what it is. The chocolate isn't real melted chocolate...it's some sort of gelatinous chocolate-flavored stuff that the waitress brings in the melting pot.

BEWARE!

While the low lighting added to the ambiance, it might it hard to see both the menus and the food! Our server was great and checked in with us frequently to make sure we had enough of everything and see how it was going. She was great talking with our kids too! The food was good but it was a little expensive for the quality and the meat that was pre-seasoned and then cooked in a flavored fondue was a little confusing...although I guess we should have thought about that when we chose flavors. Overall it was a really nice meal for our son's 16th birthday!

I was out of town for Valentine's with my wife and, since the Melting Pot in Charlottesville is where I proposed, I figured it would be the perfect place. I opted for their 'touch of romance' package so they had the table decorated with lovely rose petals and candles. Her chocolate-covered stawberrie were waiting and the rest of the night was just as perfect. Our waitress, Latifah took wonderful care of us from start to finish! Between her, the manager Brian, and the rest of the staff, it felt like we hadn't missed Valentine's at all.

Server did an excellent job and was extremely informative. The lighting was very dim which made it very difficult to read the menus.

Food overall was very good but we were not impressed with the dumplings which were part of the meal package we had.

We’ve been to this location a half dozen times in the past 2 years and unfortunately the service has gotten worse each time. To be clear, our table service in most recent visit was good, but the host/hostess station is simply awful. The last 3 times we’ve gone, even with OpenTable or direct reservations, we’ve had a 30+ minute delay beyond our time. Though that kind of stuff can happen, the lack of cordiality by the hostesses was unprofessional. They showed no sympathy to anyone (we were not the only ones with an extended wait). Instead, they seemed annoyed that we even checked in with them. And when we left after our most recent visit, we said “good night” to the hostess and in response, we got a loud sigh.
Though we like the experience of the fondue-cooking, we will likely not return to this location.

Although we had a 7:45 reservation, we were not seated until almost 8:45. They took several groups who had come in after us, claiming they were waiting for our table to open up. On top of that, the hostesses were incredibly rude and never apologized for the long wait. When we were finally seated we walked past at least 4 larger empty tables while be seated at a smaller table where we had to cram in. When we requested one of the many larger open tables, they acted like it was a hassle to clean it and seat us there. Once we finally sat, we had a lovely server and the food was generally no better or worse than what we expected. However, the hostesses at the front were so rude and the night started off so poorly that it ruined the experience for me. If you plan to go to the melting pot, go to a location other than Reston.

Getting a chance to go to the Melting Pot is a great "date" night any time of the year. The food is always good and plentiful - the servers always ask if you want more dippers. The setting is such that you can have a private conversation without wondering if the table next to you is listening in. The pace is slow enough that you can enjoy the food and the people you are with. You can go big with the 4-course option or trim it down and not include one of the courses. We went around Valentine's day so we had more options - not that we took advantage of that but having other choices is never a bad thing.

So as a Melting Pot virgin I have to say that it was an awesome experience, and I do mean experience as this was way more than your standard dinner fare. The ambiance was perfect for a Valentine’s Day weekend dinner, although I think the ambiance would be perfect for any intimate occasion. Especially if you get a booth in the back where there is no one across the aisle from you. I was pleasantly surprised that the cheese fondue was actually made at the table...not sure why I thought it was pre-made and simply heated up at the table, but it wasn’t. The salads were fresh and delicious. The entree platter was filling to say the least (6 proteins in the VDay special), and maybe a bit too much even for 2 hungry adults. The star of the night was definitely the Flaming Turtle dessert fondue! The chocolate and caramel flambéed with candied pecans was divine even before dipping the rice krispy treats, pound cake, waffles, cookies, brownies, and fruit. It was my 1st time, but it won’t be my last. I highly recommend this experience to everyone.

Definitely come here for the cheese and chocolate fondue experiences. We had the french onion gruyere fondue - so flavorful and good! We had to ask for more bread because it wasn't enough to sop up all that cheesy goodness. We also had the chocolate hazelnut truffle chocolate fondue for dessert - reminded me of a melted Ferrero Rocher ball, sooooo good. I think some of the dippers are too sweet - such as the rice krispies and brownies - but the fruit and belgian waffles were so good.

As for the main course entrees, we DEFINITELY do not recommend the new cast iron grill option. Our pan was almost melting and smoking from the heat, so there was a strong metal/ iron smoke smell coming from the pan. The meats barely cooked on the pan, because the heat wasn't strong enough, and it took much longer than the recommended times. Some of the herbal marinades were too strong and didn't taste good. We didn't like more than half of the provided dipping sauces, either. We wouldn't ever get that again.

We ordered a Mai Thai and Summer Sangria for drinks - pretty good but gets watered down easily from all the ice.

Service was ok but sporadic; it took a very long time for our waitress to check on us in between courses.

Overall, we'll come back just for the cheese/ dessert but nothing else.

We had a party of four with reservations for 8pm. We were not seated until 8:30pm. It took 2 hours to be served our salad. They were over booked. Then when the meant was being delivered the server dropped the tray shattering glass all over the floor and food. Waited another 30 minutes for the new meats to be served.

Our server, in particular, was awesome. Side: No reason to make reservations as they don't honor them. But! It does take a super long time to get food and or drink. Servers are awesome and amazing! Love the servers. Not so much the front desk/greeter staff. They were rude and stressed.

Poor things. I feel badly for them.
