The Melting Pot - Raleigh Ratings and Reviews
I have been to several other melting pots and the one in Raleigh just didn't hold comparison to the others. The set-up and mood needs some attention. Privacy on special occasions is key. Re-train the wait and hostess staff on being better with people skills.
We made reservations to come for dessert. The hostess was friendly but she did not give us the correct menu. Also, it did not seem like the workers were happy we were there. We walked out with no one saying “having a great night” or anything. We were expecting better customer service. Quite a disappointment.
The food and service is excellent. The staff treated us very well. This was our first visit, so we did not know what to expect, but our server patiently walked us through the entire process. Be prepared to dig a little in your wallet. Our lunch for two was about a hundred bucks. Ouch!
Fantastic as usual. We had a reservation and were sat immediately. Our server was fast, friendly and very knowledgeable about the menu. She helped us decide the best way to order for our group so we got everything we wanted for the best price. The classic alpine fondue was fantastic, the meats and veggies fresh and the flaming turtle was the perfect way to cap off a memorable meal. I highly recommend The Melting Pot.
The Melting Pot is not the fine dining experience it used to be. The place feels run-down, with some of the tables having cracked burners, a very poorly-maintained ladies room, and dated decor. The food was good (especially liked the traditional cheese fondue) and our server was nice. It just felt neglected overall .
Spent an extra $5 on an additional dessert plate just for the creme puffs. Was not told until the plate was delivered that they were out of creme puffs (would not habe ordered if they told me). Restaurant was very cold and smelled like pine cleaner. Food was delicious but $175 for 3 people (and No alcohol) should be fabulous! Was given a card for our anniversary celebration but no discount off our meal.
Loved taking my Mom to celebrate her Birthday to Melting Pot on Saturday! Was definitely more expensive than I anticipated but getting the "4-course experience" seemed the best bang for our buck so we went for it! We loved everything! Still think Melting Pot should do something special for Birthdays - free drink, bday cupcake etc. would definitely go back for another special occasion!
Really nice cheese fondue. Confess I was not all that into the entrees... they were good, but the cheese ones were better. next time I will end up doing more cheese fondues rather than doing the 4 dishes. overall I really liked the place! will definitely come back
Food is ok. Cheese fondue was good but you fill up on bread. We got a surf and turf selection fried. The lobster was outstanding. The steak not that good. Be aware. If you want to take your uncooked surf and turf Home, you can’t unless you cook it. So eat the lobster first so if you get full you can leave the meat behind—no loss. Ceaser salad was good but kind of a high price. In fact, everything is expensive and without equivalent value.
Horrible! We were treated so rudely and disrespected the entire time. AND the waitress took it upon herself to keep a $70 tip on a $133 check!!! Obsurd! I would LOVE a partial refund or something! She did NOT deserve a $70 tip!!!! Accusing my boyfriend of being belligerently drunk when all he had to drink was a half of a cocktail because it was made so poorly and two or three beers. We were trying to have fun laughing etc and we were treated like garbage!!! Very disappointed to say the least! I USED to love this restaurant when I lived in NY I'll never go there again or suggest it to anyone!
The AC was on high so it was very cold. Our server was very enthusiastic and attentive. We found the food to be okay but honestly did not like the meat. Chicken ended up being tough and tasteless. It's fun to cook the food but we found it to be very expensive for what you get. Won't go again.
The overall experience was a great one & never disappoints when it comes to the food. Having just moved from NY and constantly going to the one in Farmingdale, my only complaint is when you have 4 people, we are used to getting 2 pots. We had made a reservation and when asked about 2 pots so we can get more then one type of fondue at a time we were told they were all booked up. We too had made a reservation, and yet when we went to the restroom there were several empty tables with 2 pots. It was a bit disappointing being my best friend was in from NY, we were celebrating our anniversary and took our 5 year old for his first experience! Other than that... can’t complain the food is always delicious and the experience is like no other!!
Our server Brian was awesome. He helped us make our selections and when he learned we had concert tickets he was mindful of our time (without rushing us). The food was good. The main attractions are the cheese at the beginning and chocolate at the end. Salad was decent but small for the price. And I'd be just as happy to have someone else cook my entree. But it is a nice "occasion" place and one should definitely consider dinner there the entertainment of the evening.
Melting Pot is always a great option for a night out. This is a traditional fondue meal and is not for anyone in a hurry. Our normal location closed last year and we switched to the Durham NC location, which is being renovated. Took a little longer drive to Raleigh and was not disappointed. Hostess, Wait Staff, Bartender, and Manager were all great. It is pleasant to have a meal with service staff that interact well and contribute to the ambiance of the evening. Would definitely recommend this location and might even make this my new go to, even though it is 120 miles from home.
The worst service of all time! The waitress never came around. Each course took forever! We were there for over three hours and missed our movie. We finished each course and never saw or waitress. So we waited and waited. No water refills. I have food allergies and explained I can't have mushrooms. She came by and dumped mushrooms in our pot. I explained I'm allergic and she scooped them out and made a mess on the table. I explained I needed An entire new pot Bc the mushrooms went in it and we got a HUGE attitude. It was just an awful experience.
This is a good place to visit if you have never experienced a fondue restaurant. Unique and fun! However, the interior of the restaurant is dark and dated. It does not appear anything has changed since the 1970s. We waited at the hostess stand for 5 minutes before we were greeted by or even saw the first employee. Other than that everything was good. Great server named Sam. Overall a very fun experience. They really just need to update the restaurant because it feels like a blast from the past inside.
4 course meal: 1st course (fondue cheese) was excellent. 2nd course (salad) not that great. 3rd course (fondue entree) good but not great. 4th course (fondue desert) was excellent.
