For the Vegetarian whole meal menu very over-priced. As a result would not recommend to fellow vegetarian friends.

Definitely one of the best "romantic dinner for two" packages in town: intimate seating, food to share and to last a multi-hour evening, and roses to take home. Wine list is well-tuned without breaking the bank. And who doesn't love a good fondue?

The food was exceptional and portions were perfect for two. Our server wasn’t as attentive as we would have liked but the staff was friendly.

This is a level of dining I can afford only with a gift card. It was quite fun introducing our teenage son to different cooking and to celebrate the end of a musical he played for. It is a fun once in a couple year experience for us.

As always The Melting Pot doesn't disappoint! Plan to spend some time relaxing in conversation while enjoying wonderful flavors! Cheese and chocolate are 2 things you can never go wrong with! The wait staff is welcoming, helpful and friendly! They are doing funsraising for St. Judes!! Who can't donate to that wonderful cause!? Such a great place to eat and enjoy friends and family. There's never a rush to get out and the staff is always willing to attend to your needs. Check them out!

Slow service, bland cheese, cold fondue. Entree portion sizes are laughably meager and of middling quality for the high prices but you're mainly paying for the experience. If the experience is bad, as ours was this time, there's zero point in dining at the Portland Melting Pot. Especially not worth paying over $50 per person to be ignored while trying to choke down cold fondue and wilted salad. Past visits have always been great, don't know what's changed since the last time but we won't be going back after that sad, overpriced display of incompetence.

Tried this place for the first time for my husbands birthday.

What I liked- service was good, the romance package was cool (table had rose petals, floating candle, take home chocolate wafers and a keepsake photo they take when you sit down) I also added a cute teddy bear. For the dessert just go with strawberries and chocolate. The rest could’ve been left out.

What I disliked- The food (besides dessert) We had the alpine cheese for our starter (don’t get it!) all we could taste was salt and garlic... the cheese consistency was off, it was more like a milky sauce. The broth for the dinner was also super salty. We picked the mojo broth. The meat tasted okay cooked in it, but with the veggies that’s all you could taste was the salt...

Final thoughts- We both agreed it’s not a place we would want to dine at again. We also wouldn’t recommended it to anyone, unless you just want to try something different and don’t mind feeling like you just wasted over $100.

We always enjoy the Melting Pot. It's a lot of fun to have the Big Night Out and do the different courses. We LOVE that it's quiet and you can actually carry on a conversation, unlike so many restaurants. We were surprised this time that the portion sizes had been reduced by so much. Not so much the entrees, but the cheese and dessert course, the fondues and dippers, and the salads, were about half the portions.

This was our first visit to The Melting Pot and what a great experience. Our waiter, Jerry, gave us a nice tour of the menu. We aren't big eaters, so we chose the cheese fondue, salad and chocolate and had more than enough to eat. Everything was delicious, but the white chocolate/dulce de leche dessert was more than we could have imagined. I see a return visit for us.

The place is underground which is pretty darn cool. The fondues were great, little pricey but that was expected. It’s not too bad, just more than I would usually spend on a meal. Definitely recommended.

Our waiter Steve was excellent. The package that they presold us with card, rose petals and pictures was overpriced. The food was great. The table for two was a little cramped with no place to hang coats. They also hid us in a corner which was quite and private but almost closet like. The trip to the bathrooms was a weird maze. Menus are ok.

So, first of all the melting pot is not accessible and having to get special permission from the restaurant to use elevators does not count. Second of all the food was alright but not great for literally $50 a meal and unlike other similar restaurants there was nothing unique about it. Our waiter, whom Im sure was just doing his best, literally disappeared for an hour and because of this we couldn't stay for our final course because well we had to sit around making pointed eyes at other waitstaff for a half hour with the hopes that someone would tell our waiter to come back because we were done with the main course. I'm not the type of person that expects someone to read my mind but it was literally an hour between us getting the main course and him coming back to check on us. Also he was kinda rude but that's whatever.

Over all I enjoyed the melting pot experience and their food. However, when we first got their (we had made a reservation) right at our reservation time they made us wait around to get seated. Several servers had come and gone that could have seated us. Many tables were clean and open. If I make a reservation I expect to be seated at that time especially when the restaurant was less than half full.

Waitress charged us for a soda that we didn't order. When we discussed it with her, she pointed rudely at my water with mio in it and said 'what's that then' and called us liars.
When we spoke to the first manager, Kennedy, she was also very rude and said 'I don't think my staff would say that to you' when I described what the waitress had said.
When I called out the manager, Kennedy, on calling me liar she then said that there must have been miscommunication between the waitress and I. Um, you can't miscommunicate a rude gesture accompanied by a snide remark.
Basically, for the price that you pay here...you shouldn't be called a liar by both the waitress and manager. Very poor customer service skills.

I have been a fan of the Melting Pot for years, but had never been to this location. We went on a Monday night for a dinner between friends that hadn't seen each other in a while. The ambiance was such that we could catch up over conversation and the lower price point options on the Crave menu fit our college budgets (for a splurge dinner that is!). Overall the service was friendly and helpful and the meal was delicious. Would recommend for special occasions or a fun treat-yourself meal.

The dinner was great. Our waitress started to become quite rude after we asked her for some clarification on the desert menu. We were a young couple out for dinner and wasn’t sure on it. She rarely checked in on us. We ordered two salads without nuts and a peanut butter cheesecake was brought to the table with no notice on the menu. My boyfriend ate part of the cheesecake and he is allergic to nuts. The waitress didn’t seem to care that this had happened but brought us a regular cheesecake. Normally enjoy this place. This night I did not.

Our server was awesome, dinner was good, but what was very disappointing was that they started doing a full clean and vacuming other tables around us right as our dessert was being served my wife and I do not get to go out to dinner alone very often having four kiddos and it was her birthday so that was pretty unsettling and even the manager was walking around with a flashlight banging it against stuff and doing inspections on tables around us and for what you pay for dinner and a bottle of wine I would not think this should be acceptable

I've had excellent experiences there in the past but was sooooo disappointed this time. Apparently the burner may not have been working properly. The cheese fondue just gelled and glommed onto the dippers. It wasn't liquid like. Then the chocolate was cold for the longest time and by the time it got hot, we had kept testing it so we weren't that hungry. We didn't ask for a reimbursement for anything but had wished they had moved us. I don't spend that kind of money on a dinner to be disappointed.

Went there for birthday, very hard to find if you don't know the area. Underground which is different.. started with cheese fondue, turned out too runny, attempt to fix made it too thick, I had to add my beer to fix. Broth to cook food was too strong smelled and tasted nasty,( amount of food was good..only good thing I can say)...will never go there again.....oh...price.....$200 all together..would have been happy at Denny's.

The food was not great the service was bad and then we got told the what we ordered did not come with dessert. We were in a time crunch so I did not argue it. But when I got home and I looked and we were suppose to get dessert so I called and they put a free dessert in there whenever we want to use it. For 75.00 dollars I would have gone some where else for the 2us.

Everything in the control of The Melting Pot is first rate. It can be a little expensive but it's worth it for a special occasion. We had the unfortunate luck of sitting next to two consecutive couples that were loud and obnoxious but that's hardly the restaurant's fault. If you can ask for a more secluded booth, you might avoid the only problem we had during an otherwise great dining experience.
