The Melting Pot - Portland Ratings and Reviews
We were seated and quickly forgoton about. Took 10 minutes just to get water to the table. We were starving. I asked about the serving size she said it was per person so I assumed we would all have enough to eat. Wrong. Should not come here hungry. For three people we were served a half an apple, four pieces of celery, four carrot pieces and 3 cherry tomatoes one inedible with mold on it. Two small bowls of bread and nowhere near enough cheese for the three of us. Left very disappointed and hungry. Probably won't ever come back
If you like fondue, you can't beat the Melting Pot. The staff are so nice and very attentive.
The restaurant experience is traditionally a four course experience. Being a vegetarian, I've pretty much stuck with just two courses, cheese and dessert. Just as a helpful hint, Open Table blocks out the time for two hours. If you are doing less than four courses, calling the restaurant to make the reservation, and letting them know, is helpful to the staff. We were only there for an hour enjoying our delicious cheese and chocolate!
We love the melting pot. This time we had a lot of snags in our service. The waiter was very nice but there were so many issues with our order. He brought me a different salad than I ordered. On our entree course he gave us the wrong cooking style broth. He did offer to fix it if we didn’t like it which was nice. I was never brought the 4th wine in my tasting flight. He took 1/4 of the cost of my flight off the bill. Also there was some extra meat on our bill which we didn’t order. They fixed that and gave us a chocolate voucher. The food was delicious but it was unfortunate that there was an issue with almost every course.
This was our very first time visiting The Melting Pot. We absolutely loved the dining experience! The selection of cheeses, main courses, salads, and desserts were amazing! We loved how each fondue course was prepared by ou server right at our table. The pepper crusted beef tenderloin and shrimp was by far our favorite part of the entree. Amazing service and amazing food!
The Melting Pot is always a wonderful place to eat! I love their food, especially the filet mignon. The Green Goddess sauce is the best as well! Can't-miss out on the Flaming Turtle dessert option either! Never had bad food or service at any of the multiple locations I have visited. Be prepared for a long time for dinner though, but well worth it!
The ambiance is nice and our table was secluded from the rest of the customers. However, the booth seats are not comfortable and have zero resistance. You literally sink four inches when you sit down. The restrooms are not in the restaurant either. The wait time between courses is a bit too long. A nice experience, but $157.00 for dinner for two is a bit much for the quality and quantity of food.
First timer at The Melting Pot. It was a nice experience. The waiter was very helpful at explaining how the menu and ordering works. We had the 4 course meal. The food portions were perfect for this. I was even able to make it to the dessert. It was fun to cook our own entrees. The only negative things I would have to say is that it is a little over-priced for what you get and that it gets really hot and stuffy at the table by the end of the meal.
My husband and I love the melting pot and go several times a year. We did notice this last time that they bring you the cooking style broth and the chocolate pre mixed now instead of mixing it at the table. We did go a little later in the evening than usual so we weren't sure if this was because of how busy they were. Like always our experience was amazing. Our waiter was very nice and the food was beyond delicious! We can never finish it all.
We have dined at the Melting Pot several times over the past several years and have enjoyed our experience. This time was much different and had us contemplating walking out.
We had reservations for 745pm and did not get seated until after 8pm. It took a long before we even saw our server for the 1st time. He was obviously frazzled and his attitude was not pleasant. When we ordered our food, he told us there would not be enough food for the both of us and we needed to both order a 4 course meal. Even after we explained we frequented the restaurant and knew the portion sizes, he shook his head at us. We had to literally beg for our waters to be refilled through the meal. The amount of time between courses was un-excusable and he mentioned to us numerous times he was way to busy. We were disappointed and question returning again.
Our waiter was wonderful, offering wine suggestions that were exactly what we wanted to drink. Food was delicious, of course, tweaked again by the waiter to optimize our visit and accommodate a vegetarian with our group.
Tacky laminated placemat- style menus not really in sync with the rest of the restaurant.
Amazing food, fun experience and good service. We liked being tucked away in the corner. The ONLY thing we were displeased with were the very dirty walls, for a restaurant you're going to spend $50+ per person the restaurant should be clean . Other than that, everything was perfect. It's a 2 hour drive for us, but we will be back!
Even though it’s a chain, it’s still got the feel of a unique restaurant. Waiters are great at recommending appropriate wine pairings for your meal selections, their hand crafted cocktails are well made and not overly priced, and the ambiance is perfect for any special occasion, but not too fancy to just drop in as a last minute dinner choice. The menu has many options to choose from without being so large that you can’t decide what you want to eat. The wait staff was friendly and welcoming and was ready to answer any questions you might have as well as make any recommendations for your dinner choices. Totally recommend this place.
It wasn't horrible but we do notice we can go to other restaurants for the same cost or lower with the same type of service. The only difference I noticed is the ambiance was so quiet so amazing I love quiet places to eat. At the point we walked in there were birthday groups but over all it quieted down through out the night. The cost is the only thing that is sort of a bummer in some ways because my boyfriend mentioned its mediocre food. We had too much for two people and some steak or lobster went to waste. The salads were on point. The desserts were on points. I'm not a fan of bread overall the cheese part was great as well. I didn't mind it because it was so quiet I enjoyed being in there and there was privacy but the place really needs to be cleaned, first thing I noticed was dust. My parents would have had a heart attack and our silverware wasn't cleaned that well either.
