We celebrated our anniversary and it was exactly what we were expecting. We were seated in a small room just off of the main dining area, so it felt somewhat private - just our table and one other in there. It was a little odd since there was another couple at the other table in the room, but they finished up and left while we were in our first cheese course, and another couple wasn't seated there until we were in our dessert course, so it worked out well - it felt very private. Food was as expected - very delicious, and spaced out well. The service was timely - even the manager stopped by to say "hi" as she delivered our salads. Overall, we enjoyed our experience!

Fun place for a different food experience. Lots of incredible choices. Go hungry and don't be in a hurry. We were there for three hours. The service was great and the food was exceptional. Enjoyed the flavors, company and the wonderful atmosphere. The drinks were refreshing also. A fun place for a special occasion such as family birthday and anniversary or just because you want good food in a quiet place with a creative menu. The cheese fondues were rich and filling. The choice of salads were many and it was hard to choose. The serving size was perfect. We liked the entrée with Coq Au Vin and the Mojo cooking broths for the different meats and vegetables. To finish it off we gorged on chocolate fondue with various fruits and treats to dip. Overall it was amazing. Hope you have as much fun as we did.

My wife & I went to Melting Pot for our 25th Anniversary. We had a great time! The food was excellent, the "tour guide" (Brooke) was very friendly & helped us make some great food choices. Everything from the cheese fondu to the chocolate desert was wonderful. Thanks for some awesome memories for our special day.

I am pretty disappointed. We were there for my fiancés 40th Birthday. We were placed in a back tiny corner. We were so cramped and felt like we had no room. The menu was not what we expected either. It was hard to read and decide. We assumed we would be able to just have chicken or just steak but there was no option for that. When the restaurant called to confirm our reservations they knew we were coming for my fiancés birthday, they asked if I would like a bottle of champagne on the table waiting for us. I thought wow that would be special so I said yes thinking it was complimentary. When I got the bill not only was I charged for the champagne and the champagne flutes which we don't need. We both ended up ordering cocktails because we weren't going to drink champagne through our entire meal. I ordered the melting pot mule. It didn't come in a copper glass like the picture showed and it tasted so bad like cleaner that I didn't even drink it. The food was good but I don't feel worth the price. The only thing good was our server Brooke was amazing! She was so helpful and super sweet.

Great service and a delicious meal. We spent a long time dining there during our 4 course meal. The salad is tiny but tasty. That's OK as the main course has plenty to fill you up. Make room for dessert as it's so good you don't want to leave much chocolate behind. The staff is very friendly if you're unfamiliar with eating fondue.

Very disappointing. The salads were obviously bagged lettuce. Dressings they called "like curry" were essentially just mustard. They only allow for one pot on the table of 2 (one was a vegetarian with a vegetarian dish, while the other diner was dining on a meat heavy option) Having one pot caused the issue of the meat eater having to wait to dip their food until the vegetarian was done so the vegetarian wasn't essentially cooking in beef broth thus defeating the purpose of eating "together".

we were first timers and we let the restaurant know as much but still received little to no instruction which resulted in poorly cooked and poorly tasting food. Especially when you only have 2 or 3 pieces of each meat, getting it right is pretty crucial or else you waste a large portion of your meal, which we did.

For a $160 we ate a 1/3rd of the food, went home hungry and disappointed while trying to remain upbeat and laughing at the ridiculousness of how much money we spent for how awful of a meal it was (had to laugh so we didn't get upset or mad)

Our server was friendly and nice. However, these fancy restaurants don't like their servers to write things down on a tablet, so of course he got the wrong sauce and my wife's bar drink never arrived because he had lots of things to remember while not writing it down and never ordered it. By the time he came back and we had a chance to mention it, the food was en route and the drink was too sweet to eat DURING dinner, but would have been nice while we waited.

we determined no one who actually lives in Portland probably goes here, or at least not twice. Very much a gimmick and something I can say I've tried but have no intentions of trying again. The only redeeming factor was the desert, so potentially I could see myself going there to order desert only (if they even offer that) but I can think of far better ways, meals, etc to drop almost $200 on...

I made a reservation. The girl called to confirm reservation and left VM and addressed me by my full name (which is fine - stand by). I called back within 10 minutes to confirm. I gave her my name, date, and time and she said, "I dont have a reservation for you!" I asked if she was so and so (name withheld) she said, yes. I told her that she just called 10 minutes ago, called me by name, to confirm my reservation. About 3 minutes later she finds me. I was taking my wife out for her birthday, this is a favorite place of hers with her friends, I have only been here 2xs. (We frequent a high end establishment in the area and we are VIP's - whenever you call they ask if it is a special occasion. I was not asked if it was a special event so I didnt offer.

Upon arrival, one of the staff hostesses was wearing a cashmere sweater to the waist with skin tight yoga pants - not my idea of professional dress. We waited and were sat and we had a very nice waiter. About 10 minutes in, while he was making a fondue, he asked us if it was a special occasion. I said yes. He said, they did not tell him when we came in..i told him they never asked and told him my story. He told me that it was highly unusual and that it is standard. He said the owner is very big on the events and that they would normally make a plate with "happy birthday" on it. I told him the name of the person I spoke with over the phone and he laughed and told me that it was a child of the owner. I told him it was no big deal - later, I walked through the place to noticed people had balloons, flowers, and such on the tables that i know they didnt bring because i was seated by the door.
I asked and was told you can order those things - I would have done it for sure. Long and the short - nice waiter, ---but he would have gotten a larger tip if he had brought ANYTHING to my wife for her birthday - apparently they need two weeks notice for "Happy Birthday" to be written on a plate per the waiters statement.

I asked my husband to take me for my birthday. I ordered the coq co vin. It was a mistake. The taste of red wine ruined everything I put in it. I didn’t realize the wine flavor would be so strong. I should have known when I saw how much wine went in. It was my fault. I couldn’t remember what I’d ordered before. They did ask how everything was. I could have asked them to change it, but I didn’t want to start over. Also the people on the other side of the wall were loud and vulgar. But the expletives weren’t abundant. Just once in awhile so we didn’t say anything. Nothing anyone could have done about that. My husband won’t be back. But I’ll still do girls nights out like I have before in the bar. Jodi

Served raw chicken on the same plate as the raw beef and shellfish. To start the meal wondering if your group was all going to get sick was not a great way to start. The food was poor quality and astronomical in price. The idea is fun, which is why I wanted to go there for the kids, but food was really bad. Our waiter did a fantastic job and he got 20% from me. He really was the only positive thing about the place I’m sorry to say. For the kind of $ I spent we could of gone to Ruth Chris down the street for incredible steak and not of left with a stomach ache afterwords.

Well, we love a good fondue, this was not a great fondue. We ordered a traditional cheese fondue, comes with bread and some fruit and vegetables. You need only order one. Everything on the menu is 'per person' which makes you think you must order multiples...not so. Order one if you are wanting to taste a dish. YOU MUST TELL THEM...ONLY ONE ORDER PLEASE.
The menu says "$$ per person" for every entry on the menu. NO. NO. NO. You do not have to pay double for everything if there are two of you. Simply say you only want an order for one.

The cheese was runny, not creamy, not cheesy. Runny. Not what you want when you think of a real cheese fondue. Runny. When I want cheese I want a thick melty cheese, not a runny tasteless cheese diluted with cheap white wine.

We ordered two dishes, the cheese fondue and a traditional meat fondue with a french style cooking broth. The cooking broth was great, however...The cheese fondue came about 45 minutes into our visit, fine, no problem...a little long on time but... I figured the meat fondue would be coming out soon after but no...it came 2 HOURS INTO OUR VISIT! 2 HOURS! SERIOUSLY. The meat fondue showed up just as my parking meter ran out so I had to run two blocks to re-up my meter. Awesome. I was not happy. 2 hours for our second dish.
All in all, not a great place. Nice bar. Interesting young clientel. I will not be going back.

I wanted to say, the hostess was lovey, it was the service, food quality and it was a birthday celebration that left a bad taste in all our mouths , let down.

My daughter and I visited The Melting Pot in Downtown Portland Saturday, 3/24/2018 at 5:00 pm prior to seeing "Hamilton". We each ordered a drink that was fabulous (Portland's Strawberry Seduction), then the Classic Alpine fondue (which I seriously disliked and my daughter said my fondue recipe was much better). I also ordered the Bacon & Bleu Spinach salad and my daughter the Caesar. I have to say, for $7 each, the salads we received were unbelievably skimpy. I may have had 8 baby spinach leaves. With the fondue, we received endless bread, but maybe 1/4 of an apple, and 3-4 one-inch pieces of celery and 3-4 grape tomatoes. For the price (including tip it was $75, it was not worth it. The server was great and very personable. I think they should have refilled the fruit and veggie dish, and made the salad worth the $7. They couldn't have anticipated my dislike for the fondue choice.

Everything was great except when asked what the occasion I said Birthday. Then I was asked if I would like balloons out on the table. I said yes that would be awesome. Little did I know that those balloons cost $20. Had I not looked at the bill and noticed I was charged for them I probably would have left them on the table and I’m sure they would have reused them. We took our $20 balloons home (not worth $20). If you’re going to offer people things like that you should make sure they know they will be charged ahead of time.

The service was terrible. The waiter explained the options but neglected to explain the pricing. He never came back to the table except to bring another course. Waited 20-30 minutes between courses. Did not refill water or iced tea. When asked to refill he waited until the course was finished to bring the refill. He dropped the lobster shells on my wife's seat, changed out the chair with the chair that my coat was on, dropping my coat in my lap. Terrible experience. Waiter told us "they have me all over the place". That was not our problem and we did not want to listen to complaints about the running of the restaurant. Would not suggest this establishment to anyone.

Our waiter, Dante, in the bar, was very attentive and super nice. The service was very fast, when sat down for our reservation. The waitress, was nice and clear when given our instructions. However, she wasn't seen for the rest of our evening, even when we wanted the check. Michael, one of the evening managers introduced himself and was professional. We waited 20+ minutes for our check and noticed the other waiter at the other tables were more attentive than our waitress. No explanation or even apologies. It was a great time spent with my friend, the birthday girl. It is VERY spendy. It was an expensive first and only time experience. I don't think I will be going again, even for the ambiance.
