Had a great time learning about the way things works. Everything tasted amazing except for pineapple and chocolate. That’s a no go.
It is a perfect place for date and special occasion. Everyone is nice and food is really good.
What an incredible experience! The food was delicious, the service was great, and the overall experience was superb. I would definitely recommend!
Took my lady friend to dinner for her birthday. The service was wonderful Brooke our server was a pleasant helpful person.
The food was fabulous. It was a nice evening out.
Had dinner before seeing a show at Arlene Schnitzer Theater. First time there, reservation at 5:15pm show was at 8pm; we let waiter know both of these things. He didn’t explain the menu very much(especially when we later heard many of the other waitstaff with customers), so we just ordered the most popular “Best if Portland”, waiter was helpful in letting us change the cheese sauce and letting us know we could order for 1, essentially splitting the meal. The salad and cheese fondue were good. We had selected the oil to fry our meats; also potatoes, broccoli and mushrooms that we didn’t know were coming with meats. We were given quick instructions and times for cooking items, then waiter disappeared. We got out our phones to use timer since there was no other way to time them. After we had cooked several items we noticed that everything seemed to be overcooking, a manager came by and adjusted something at end of our table but didn’t say anything and wasn’t there long enough for us to even ask a question. Still no waiter, no offer of 2nd drink that I had requested a menu back to look at drinks... another guy whisked by and made another adjustment to burner. Flagged down a different guy to ask about one of the sauces that came with meats, but he was new and didn’t know the answer. Finally, waiter showed up again, we asked for fresh ice water and mentioned that we had overcooked several of our items. He stated the oil was hard to regulate. He came back with dessert menu, but no water. We hadn’t finished going over dessert menu, but companion had to use the bathroom(since we had now been there 2+ hours)and while she was away, he came back for our dessert choice...still no water, but I didn’t know what we wanted. We were scarfing down our dessert, new kid took our credit card to give to manager since we were now panicking to get out of there and to the show, which thank goodness was just a block away. Left at 7:50pm, still no fresh ice water!!!
Loved it. Will be back.
The service was exceptional! In previous visits years ago I remember there being more variety in the foods to dip into the cheese and chocolate fondue, so I was a little disappointed there. But our server was wonderful, making great recommendations and bringing everything very quickly. He made it a very pleasant experience.
It was a really nice experience. We went with another couple and having to all decide the same fondues, I really didn’t like. There should be maybe a couple choose the same, but having to choose the same in the whole party. Not everyone has the same tastes.
We had a grest experience here. We had a great server named Drew. He was wonderful and didnt rush us.
Truly enjoyed it will be back with friends. The four entrees was more than we could eat. Enjoy
The fondue, salad and protein was great. The dessert I rate mediocre. Service was outstanding. Make sure you keep the entrance stairwell swept out.
We love the Melting Pot restaurant in Portland. We go a lot but tonight was one of the best. Bridgette was out waitress and she was awesome. Best waitress at the Portland Melting Pot. Salads were better than normal. Just overall excellence.
Excellent service, good food, a bit overpriced.
Birthday dinner for mother in law. They have her a card. Everyone was very nice and the food was delicious. Something for everyone
We arrived early and asked if we could be seated early. We were told yes, about 10min. We were not seated early we had to wait until our reservation time. Being our first time here for our 15th Anniversary we were disappointed with the ambiance, very dark and had a weird smell. After being seated our waiter was very nice and explained everything to us. Shout out to Ryan. We got the 4course meal. The cheddar cheese dip has a weird after taste. We thought the bread was blah and very stale. The side of carrots, celery and tomatoes was very odd combination to dip in hot cheese. The salad was okay. Then the meat course. The waiter had told us 2-3 min per piece. Well that was not true, the chunks of chicken and pork took 5-6 minutes to cook all the way through. Doing that 15 times took forever. I feel like there should be a side of something to snack on while you cook you’re own dinner. This was truly not what I had expected. I thought they were small strips that would cook quickly. I did during our dinner use the restroom and found that very odd. Didn’t feel super great in that hallway. Just seemed cold and not in cohesive with the restaurant theme.
Dessert was very delicious and would come back for that. But all in all a huge miss for $111. I could of cooked all of that at home for way less. The 4 course meal should include a drink. Not alcohol just maybe a coke or coffee and tea. And you should validate parking. Your yelp reviews say you do but once there we were told the new owners do not do this. Huge disappointment.
The melting pot was an amazing experience! Our server Jerry was the best server my boyfriend and i have had i long, long time. I definitely recommend going here!
The entrance made us a little nervous as it is underground. The wait staff were all super friendly and the restaurant was beautiful. We were there for my wife's birthday. They put us back in a little cubby corner that was very private. I had ordered the rose petals, balloons, photo, and chocolates, and it was all waiting at the table for us when we arrived. We arrived early and they got us back to our table about 20 minutes before our reservation.
I confess, I did not enjoy the cheese fondue or the salad, but those are not my favorite kinds of food. We had to leave suddenly when the meats arrived because my wife suddenly started feeling ill. She didn't eat much and started feeling better once we got into our air conditioned car, so we think she just got overheated. It was a very warm day, and being back in that small area with stoves all around, it was pretty warm.
The food really isn't my sort of fare. I am sure most people would enjoy it, but the first two courses were not food I enjoy.
I won't be coming back for a while, because it is VERY expensive. I don't spend that much on four nice dinners out most of the time.
However, for a once-every-few-years thing to do, it is quite nice.
We LOVE the Melting Pot! The new earlybird promo for $59 makes it easy for us to come in more often.
Really enjoyed our meal, and our server (Brooke) was very friendly and attentive. This was a celebration of my parent's 45th anniversary, and we all enjoyed the experience. The fondues (cheese at the beginning, chocolate at the end) were all delicious, and the main course meats were very well-seasoned and tasty. Great place for a special occasion.
This was my first time to the melting pot and the server was very nice and explained everything.
Amazing experience.. The food, price and ambiance was fantastic!!
Thank-you to all who made this evening SO special for my guests and I. <3
It was nice and decent
Good for a one-time dinner; maybe for future drinks and cheese course only. Too expensive to enjoy except on special occasions or just for drinks/cheese.
Love Melting Pot. We don't have one in my state (Arkansas). So, I have it every chance I get.
Very fun experience. Cost was a bit high at $140/ tip for two adults.
Had an amazing night with my wife to celebrate 8 years of marriage. JD our server was so great! He went above and beyond to make our night special! I recommend The Melting Pot to everyone!
The experience was excellent. The team at the Portland OR location webt out of their way to kake the evening special and romantic for my girlfriend and I. Thank you for great experience, we will be back.
We enjoyed our evening and dining experience, our server was very knowledge able and the food was good!
It was a great date night!
Yes it is pricey & honestly was worth it took my family out for a family night! It was our first time being there our waiter was very nice and would come check up on us making sure everything was okay ! We took our 6 year old & she had a blast! She loved the factor she was able to cook her own food! Super worth the price & food & The desert was phenomenal thank you again! Will definitely be going back!
Wonderful meal with friends from out of town. This is our 2nd time at the Melting Pot. It was a Tuesday evening so much quieter than our first visit because it wasn't busy. But the Saturday night we were there last Fall was great too - just busier. HIGHLY recommend Ophelia, our server! She was funny, helpful, gracious and attentive. Food is great - PACE yourself. There's a lot of it and it's all delicious. We'll be back!
We enjoy the melting pot whenever our travels take us to one. This location was nice and we enjoyed our visit. We got the prix fix menu with cheese fondue, salads, main and chocolate fondue. I do think the meat is not super high grade (not angus beef for example). I would be willing to pay a bit more for higher quality meat.
Wonderful as usual
Expensive but a very nice meal! The server was helpful to us newbies, and not a bit snobbish. Glad we had reservations!!
The lack of stars is mainly due to the hostess situation. When we walked in a gaggle of girls were having a giggling fest and couldn’t be bothered to stop discussing their personal lives, just because of our presence. The girl I assumed was the lead hostess (Tori) was the worst and a disgrace to the professional restaurant industry. Once we were finally acknowledge I indicated there were 4 of us, but was so put off by their behavior when we walked in, I forgot to tell them we had a reservation. When they told us they could not seat us until 8:15 I promptly spoke and said we had a reservation. While one girl was looking at the computer another said 6:30, I said no 6. Tori then very rudely said , “well, how many are thee, 4 or 6!”. I told them no our reservation should be for 6pm. She began to argue with me and when I showed her the reservation confirmation on my phone, she said “oh, well that app makes mistakes all the time, I don’t know what to tell you.”. I’m getting a little more than annoyed at this point. I have 2 children with me and I would have come at 6:30 had that been our reservation , BUT IT WASNT. I asked why does the restaurant use an app that doesn’t work? She just shrugged and said you’ll have to ask the manager. I asked if they could please try to get us seated sooner and she said it would be after everyone else that had a reservation was seated. I DO HAVE A RESERVATION. One of the FIVE girls up front FINALLY went and got the manager. When he came up he said he would be getting us seated in just a few minutes. At this point I just want what just happened with the hostesses addressed. He didn’t seem to really care. Once we were seated everything was great. When leaving a tip I asked the waiter if he tips out the hostesses. He smiled knowingly and said no, but they do get a cut of the total sales. We spent over $300 that night. I don’t think the girls should see a dime. I would have walked out, had my kids not been so excited.
Always enjoy the fondue. We had cheese and chocolate.
Me and my boyfriend decided to try it for the first time for date night and we were more than happy! I usually hate a lot of things and am very particular in what I eat, but I went in wanting to try something new so I tried the spinach and artichoke fondue, something I never dreamed of liking and I was blown away by how amazing it was! Now I can't stop craving it! We also had the smores fondue for dessert and I couldn't believe how delicious it was! The brownies the fondue came with were so good it felt like I was floating. I can not wait to come back soon and try more of what they have to offer! The server was very good as well and patient with us being first time guests! He was fun and didn't overwhelm us which was very appreciated, but also was attentive when needed! I would give this place way more than 5 stars if I could!
